SUPPER CLUB - Thurs, April 7th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Apr 07, 2016 4:13 am

Good Morning!

Busy day here yesterday! I finished my football blocks and then moved out to the yard. It was gorgeous weather and I got a lot done. Met a new neighbor that is moving into the rental next door at the end of the month. and she's our favorite waitress at one of the places we go for Sunday breakfasts with my DB and SIL! It will be nice to have someone we know - and like - as a neighbor.

CHICKIE - I'm hoping for rain for you. In fact, we are scheduled for rain's arrival by the weekend so I'm going to re-route it to you if I can.

IRISH - That cinnamon swirl cake sounded pretty yummy! I've had a yen for something like that for the last three days. maybe I'll have to actually bake one, too. Your Jim attacks dandelions? Send him my way! Bill could care less! He won't even weed/feed the lawn because he'll have to mow more often! lol!

BECCA - I know you are busy right now preparing the fatted calf for all your beloved family! Are the baskets for the kids belated Easter baskets or something Gramma always has around for when they visit? What a great idea!

JANA - I'm glad you got the BIL in the divorce! he sounds like a keeper. That's how we feel about my BIL, too.

LADY CAROL - I'm with you on electronics. They are no friends of mine! lol! I do know how to post photos on the forum, but my Photobucket account is full, so I can't add any more to it and I don't know how to empty it. Wedding planning can be so much fun, but can also cost so much $$. I'm glad all my kids are long married!

CAROL - When I applied for SS they suggested, because of my complicated work and marital history, that I come in person. So I went to a smaller town north of us where the wait time was minimal. I was in and out in 30 minutes! I do very little on-line. I wind up in trouble every time I try. I wish you good luck!

Today is supposed to be 80*. I can dig it! I hope to get more yard work done. Some parts of my yard still have fall leaves covering the ground so it's going to be slow going there. At least it's a shady area - hence all the leaves!

As for tonite, we have cooked chicken and au gratin potatoes left over from last night so I'll invent some kind of dish for tonite - maybe put it all together with some peas and pop it into the oven. Add a salad and voila`! We will call it supper!

Any idea yet what you will be calling supper tonite?

Good morning!

I’ll take the rain! I spent much of yesterday outside… just too pretty. The dogs and I walked down to Ava’s, then I came back and appliquéd my Bloom blocks and picked out the borders. Before I could stitch them, the sun and outdoors called so the Hooligans and I walked out to the back of the farm to the ponds and timber and hunted mushrooms. I think I found 5 sorry little ones. But, I found the greatest tool for holding back branches and raking leaves to hunt for the ‘shrooms… an antler!!! DH hunts for the deer sheds and has spent hours looking this year without success. Boy, when I showed him my new tool for ‘shrooming, he was green!!! I presented it to him, and he returned to his normal, good-natured color. So funny! I’ll return today and see if I can be lucky enough to find the other, matching antler. It was a fun afternoon.

Irish—cinnamon swirl cake… YUM!!! Sounds like something I need to make, too! I froze part of the carrot cake, but there is enough for dinner tonight.

Becca—Know your home will be bursting with happiness as well as delicious food!!!

Carol—good luck with the SS! Thankfully the office wasn’t too far from us, so we applied in person… so far, so good!

Dinner plans changed last evening. DH wasn’t much in the mood for more (tough) ribs… think I’ll figure out something else (ground) with them, so I suggested going to the local bar and grill. We walked in, and there was DS1 and DDIL along with Ava’s parents (DGS and DGDIL) who had just arrived a few minutes earlier. We had a great meal together. My mushroom-Swiss burger was wonderful, and I have half of it left! So… just something for DH tonight. It will happen, but I need to think some more about it… maybe while I’m out walking this afternoon…

Enjoy!

Good early afternoon from chilly but sunny, SW. Pa...We're not lucky like Mary to have anything near 80 but we do have some sun, (for awhile)....

Mary, you sure have been busy, with both the quilt and the yard..I should take a page from your book, well maybe just a paragraph...As I had said, our yard is nothing to look at, most of the green is weeds but Jim does get rid of the pretty yellow flowers...A neighbor next to buddy Ted's, always had someone come and treat his lawn and it was just like a golf course..And then you'd have Ted's, which would be full of yellow blooms and then the wind would blow and all those seeds would go next door...Finally, the neighbor just gave up and his yard looks like the rest of our's, lol....

Chickie, I love to hear about your walks with the hooligans...I wonder, if I had a dog, maybe that would push me to get out and walk..Some how, don't think the cats would approve...The cake from yesterday turned out pretty darn good, even had it for breakfast...Wow, what a nice dinner surprise, always fun to meet up with family....

Becca, and speaking of family I think your house is where it's happening...I've noticed a big happy glow in the sky coming from the south...I can imagine it will take you months and months to get that smile off your face....Enjoy every minute, my friend.....

Lady Carol, a wedding, how exciting! And expensive, darn...Our DGD's wedding is the 1st of October...I had a message from her yesterday about a date for the shower in August, then today she wrote back and changed the date...Her attendants are having this for her and they keep adding more people and need to change the venue...Thank goodness I just need to show up....
And your Shephard's pie reminded me, I have some in the freezer, which might find it's way to the table tonight.....

Our visit with Jim's cousin was great...She was here for 4 hours and I hated to see her leave but we did promise we'll do it again soon..Of course, being related, she's also Irish skinned and the talk always gets around to skin cancer which she has also had...AND would you believe, she wasn't gone 15 minutes and the doc called and all 3 of Jim's biopsies need the MOHs treatment, so here we go again....We really should be used to this by now but I feel so sorry for him, having to go through it......

Well, since I can't be outside, I guess I'll have to find something to do in the sewing room...I do need to get busy or at least think about the quilt for Cari...Gee, that might mean a trip to JoAnn's, darn.......

Dinner might be the Shephard's pie or it might be omelets....I can't decide this early in the day............

Happy eating......

Eagle update:
Just a funny from yesterday...All eagles vie for their food and normally the older eaglet will "bonk" the younger one to keep it from eating..This is normal but sometimes hard to watch...Well, yesterday, Mom was feeding and the older one gave the sib a good "bonk" and the Mom actually got one of the sticks along the nest and separated the 2 eagles...Then she covered the older eaglet with grass...It was like, she had had enough and put it in "time out"..That little bugger kept poking his head out as to say, "I'm sorry or can I come out now?" but she made him/her stay there...They are just like typical human kids and so darn funny......

Good morning,

Dinner is wavering between two meals -pot roast or banned chowder. The chowder makings are upstairs and the pot roast is in the freezer - depends on if I can get DH to go and get it for me. My hip is giving me fits and two many trips up and down the stairs is a pain - literally!

Irish - what a great visit! Sorry Jim has more to go through at the doctor's office. Those wonderful yellow flowers are the declared city flower here! Everyone grows them and shares too! Like zucchinis from your garden! LOL We had our lawn sprayed to prevent them, so far, so good. The biggest problem is all the little kids in the neighborhood, they love to blow the seed pods!

Chickie - we have lots of deer, but I guess they don't shed their antlers - no one seems to know about that here and we haven't seen any.

Becca - I too am always forgetting something at the store. Good for me that my niece and Sarah are so close - we borrow back and forth all the time.

Mary - OK, don't steal, all the heat - I need some! Prayers for your brother. It is so nice to have good neighbors. I just made a batch of donuts for my neighbor, she is pregnant and craved a donut. No donut shops in Herriman, so you have to drive a distance and that ine isn't all that good.

Well, need to se which dinner will be,
Enjoy,
Jana
