SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Valentine's Day!
Good Morning and Happy Valentine's Day to you all - and to your Special Somebody's!
Yesterday we went for a 2-mile walk that made Scottie very happy, fertilized our 2 dozen rhodies and other woody shrubs, and visited Jim. We played a game of cards until he tired. It was a struggle but he did a transfer to/from wheelchair - 3 times while we were there! He is making good progress! Last night was an early dinner at a nearby Italian restaurant to celebrate our anniversary (which is today). The steakhouse we wanted to go to was closed, as in forever. And today we're going to Seattle to the RV show. Just to enjoy looking. In 14 years we haven't seen any new RV's we like better than our "Rover" but it's always fun to look.
JANA - so happy you had a great birthday. Even if you had to eat lobster. The gift in blue flannel I was referring to was Baden. We were hoping to make it a triple birthday, weren't we? Sounds like he didn't make it to the party. The soup sounds delish and I printed off your recipe. We are big Rotel lovers here, though 2 cans does seem overly spicey. I think I'll take it down a notch, too.
IRISH - glad we have you to report on the babies! Happy to hear #2 has been returned to the nest. And Mom and Dad were happy about it, I assume. Do the babies have names? And congratulations on your own new egg! (can you imagine the size of a 3-egg omelet made of eagle eggs!) (well, this IS a foody thread!)
BECCA - 6-9 more inches of snow!? Oh dear! Gather in the groceries and the cotton. It sounds like a wintery siege! When I drive with Bill, I guess I'm lucky. He falls asleep almost immediately - even when I was behind the wheel of his brand new 1-Ton Ram while driving it home from Chicago last September. Even when he knew he'd probably be waking up in a quilt shop parking lot!
GQ - those breakfast tacos sound yummy! I make something like that sometimes, but roll it all up in a large tortilla and call it a wrap.
TINA - I'm happy that you are cutting back on the babysitting. How did you choose what days you'd have off? That's too bad that your dad quit playing music. Music can soothe the soul.
BECKY - too bad the kids didn't want pancakes for supper. Mmm, with a scrambled egg on the side. Like Gardenquilter, my mom also added bacon to the batter or just poured the batter over a cooked piece of bacon. What a comforting supper! But beef stew is good, too. Many years ago, an elderly lady taught me to add a bottle of beer to my beef stew. Gives it a good flavor.
HELEN - nice of you to stop by the table! I've never seen that command from QIAD before.
Since we're going to Seattle today I'll put some chili in the crockpot and let it simmer while we are gone. That would be nice to have waiting for us when we get home. I think I'll also mix up the dry ingredients for cornbread so I only need too add the egg, milk, and butter when we get home. Voila`! Supper will be served!
What are you serving tonite?

Hum....pizza sounds good too...LOL...I need to stop reading here...
We had a lot of applesauce in our pancakes....my grandma was a great cook....she did all sorts of things....I never liked the chokecherries, but I did like her jelly on pancakes too....I guess I will just have to make some and eat them by myself....LOL
Tonight, DH asked for a pot of beans, so they are simmering...of course the kids don't eat that either, so they are getting the fried potatoes and hotdogs...may fry some cabbage too....and Cornbread.....You all have a great day.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Valentine's Day!
Good Evening!
Just returned from the quilt show. I will post a picture tomorrow of my quilt.
Tonight's dinner is salad, steak, baked potato and broccoli. We decided to go out tomorrow, but tonight we are also celebrating.
Maryz - Glad to hear Jim is making good progress. Sorry the steakhouse has closed.
Jana - Happy Birthday! Hope the baby makes his appearance soon.
Irish - Thanks for reporting on the eagles!
Becca - Your dinner sounds very good! Glad the sun is out for you.
Favorite Grandma - I understand the English ate pancakes on Fat Tuesday to use up the milk and eggs and sweets.
Good Night!
Carol
