SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Jan 29th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jan 29, 2016 3:41 am

Good Morning!

Today will be a few UGH-lies and a little bit of sewing - finishing up my Patriotic Swap blocks - and then waiting for my oldest brother's plane to land at 10:30 pm. Do you know the six of us 'kids' haven't been together in 21 years? I see everyone at least every few years, usually, but not all together. So while we may not be happy that one of us has to be so sick for us all to get together, we will celebrate our reunion!

JANA - that little Ethan is a quick study! He'll be teaching you before you know it! For the record - I love coconut . . Just in case you ever need to know that . . .

BECCA - the cost of groceries can be staggering! We shop Costco for a lot of things and I keep a large pantry stocked. But still, food is expensive and so are all the other things that we get from food stores - cleaners, paper products, etc.

CHICKIE - you are right about coconut, I think. Most people I know really like it, but a few HATE it. No in-between. Maybe it's like cilantro - it tastes different to different people on the tongue receptors. And what a cute kid idea with those scraps!

LADY CAROL - glad you are feeling up to going on your weekend outing. Enjoy seeing all those friends! I think I'd really like leek and potato soup.

TINA - where is your mom right now if their house is all locked up? Many folks, as they get older, their personalities seem to change. But sometimes, there is a physical reason for it. A chemical imbalance, a brain tumor, etc. Does her doctor realize she is a different person now? I feel for you, girlfriend!

CAROL - oranges fresh from the tree!! What a treat! They just HAVE to be better than the ones in the store that come from cold storage. count me in! Glad you are able to fill in for the pg teacher.

Last night I cut up the leftover meatloaf and put it into marinara sauce and we had spaghetti. Great "meatballs"! But now we have sauce leftover and we need to eat it before my oldest brother gets here. He can't eat spaghetti sauce. He WILL eat it if that's what you give him, but you'll be seeing it again before long. And I don't want a repeat of THAT experience! So, the spaghetti sauce has to be gone by tonite!

I hope you have a - ahem - less picturesque reason for your supper choices tonite!

Good morning! Dinner here will be the dregs of the fridge... tomorrow is shopping day. I'd go for the marinara, but DH isn't happy with tomato-based anything. I would certainly hate to see a "return"...

Best wishes to you and your family as you gather for support. I know there will be lots of fun stories and laughing together in the midst of the prayers for a successful surgery.

I want to work on some projects today--we're going for 65 degrees!, so this is kind of short... Enjoy today!

Good morning!

Mary - all the fun stories that wil be told. Get someone to write them down!

Chickie - enjoy the warm spell, Mary sent me her storm and I am passing it in to you, only fair! LOL

Dinner tonight is a rerun of the pot roast - probably open faced hot sandwich.

Enjoy,

Good morning from dreary, sometimes snowy, cold, Sw. Pa...Not a nice day but a good day to stay inside and I have lots of inside stuff to do....

Mary, You will be having a reunion of sorts, won't you? Not a good reason, but to have everyone there, showing support, that's great...I'm sure your DB gets so much comfort, knowing everyone will be close....As Jana posted, make sure someone makes note of all those "special" memories....Good idea for your left over meatloaf...But, how come, when using left overs that way, you seem to end up with something else left over? Just 1 vicious leftover circle....

Chickie, 65 degrees????This is January....But, how about sending it east, after you've enjoyed it, of course....We might be in the mid 30 today and cold, cold tonight...With those temps, you'll probably have clothes hanging on the outside line....Of course, I don't want the storm that Jana is passing on to you......

Yesterday I got together with the gals for lunch and we went to a new place...It's called Double Wide and had taken over a very well known restaurant (one of very few in the area)...We have all kinds of drive thru joints but not 1 good sit down restaurant unless we drive into the next town or go to Pgh...But, for lunch, we've got it all...This place is good but it was so noisy, we had a hard time hearing each other....Food and the company were excellent but we probably won't be going back unless the do something about the noise level..After lunch, I stopped at Walmart to look for new towels, rugs etc. for the bathroom and still can't decide...

Today is odds and ends and hopefully actually get something accomplished...Might do some laundry and give the kitchen a good cleaning, MIGHT...But, for sure, this afternoon, I'm going to be playing with the sewing machine....

For dinner, it might be a "mustgo" day...And if that's not enough, there's always grilled cheese and soup...One thing, we'll never go hungry in this house.....Oh, and I need to bake something, Jim has gone a day without fresh baked and he'll be having withdrawal before long......

Happy eating...........

Eagle report: It finally stopped raining in Florida and the nest is drying out... The 2 "bobbleheads" are fully hatched and are quite feisty...Mary, there are only 2, you might have seen the part of the shell..The parents will have their talons full with these 2, the fun is just beginning....

Nothing happening in our nests up here...we have another week or so before they start laying their eggs....
