SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Dec 21st
Today is the shortest day of the year! Tomorrow - more sunshine for us all!! Yay!!
Yesterday we were pretty quiet around here. We had breakfast with my DB, watched the Seahawks (insert big smile here!), and I sewed a little bit on a wallhanging for Autumn's library. I went to bed at 8pm and fell asleep instantly for 9-1/2 hours. Maybe I was tired . .
JANA - I've never had matzo ball soup. you'll have to give us a report.
IRISH - What a nice thing to hear about Harriet! I hope that egg has a little brother or sister egg soon!
CAROL - so nice to have you join us at the table! and with one of our group favorites - meatloaf!
I received a Christmas card from Joanne wishing us all a merry Christmas. But no real news in it. I'm thinking she isn't feeling very well these days, as her penmanship wasn't quite as lovely as it always has been in the past.
Today will be more work on that wallhanging, possibly start to plan a thanksgiving quilt for my DD#1, and a dance or two with Mr. Maytag. In other words - not much cookin' here! And as for REAL cooking, we're still nibbling away at those turkey leftovers.
Does everyone have their Christmas food events planned?

Good morning from overcast, chilly, but getting warmer, SW. Pa...Yep, going to have record breaking temps over the next couple of days and short sleeve temps for Christmas...No sledding or snow shoes this year, thank goodness......
Mary, it sure sounds like you had a good day and also, you must have been tired...I was happy to see "our" team win...The Steelers squeaked by but other than Jim watching it, I didn't care...I'm getting to be a terrible Pgh. fan, I'm also mad at the Pirates...They traded 1 of everyone's favorite players, Neil Walker...This follower is a born Pittsburgher, excellent 2nd base player and should have stayed and gone on to retire with the Pirates...Don't know what the "higher up" are thinking......
Oh well, onto a cheerier subject, eagles, and sure hoping for another addition to the nest but just so happy there has been an egg...I had been missing a lot of sleep worrying about this family, lol....It's tough being granny to an eagle....
I think I slept about 9 hours last night, too...Should be bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning but so far, it hasn't hit, lol...But, I will be joining you in the "washer waltz"..Still can't figure out how 2 people have so much laundry...And, have a couple of cards to get in the mail, finish the last throw and hopefully start those elusive cookies......Did make another table topper to give away but liked it so much, it's now on my table...
As for dinner, we too will be nibbling on leftovers...Always tastes better that second night..........
Happy eating..............
Just had a call from Cari and her wedding dress is ready...She's going to pick it up and lock it in the spare bedroom..She was so funny, besides being excited, told Matt, this makes it official, he can't back out now..........October will sneak up on us before we know it......

I can't believe I didn't make it here yesterday. Mary, yes everyone is coming here to eat Christmas Eve and Christmas
My Dad is having a catscan today in his kidneys and his parts, he's having problems, any extra prayers would be appreciated.
I'm busy baking so haven't put much thought into our suppers, last night it was soup I had in the freezer

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Dec 21st
Good afternoon!
With the shortest day of the year, I think we are all in hibernation mode. Just wake me when it’s 70 degrees outside and the days are longer!
I think I may have been AWOL here… Saturday was a day of culinary debauchery that lasted most of the night when the party moved from the community center to DS1’s house. We laughed and had the best time! Yesterday was gloomy, and I just kind of napped and caught up on some Saturday quilt shows I’d taped as well as feeding the washer and dryer. We had wind warnings, so no hanging laundry outside.
Today the dogs and I walked down the road to play with Ava, then I came back and made some apple turnovers with a box of puff pastry. We didn’t wait for afters but sampled this afternoon—yummy!
Tonight will be some leftovers… chicken, ham and beans… whatever… plus probably a second round of the turnovers.
Irish—I usually have to make extra runners to keep for me. I didn’t do that this year and I’m sorry. Lucky you that you got to keep one! Hope the eagle family has a good year!
Tina—everyone will be here Christmas afternoon… something over 25 with all the families and some boyfriends and girlfriends accompanying the grands.
Becca—I have ham and beans for leftovers and some cornbread. I never tire of beans!
MaryZ—Good to hear from Joanne… sorry her RA seems to be giving her more difficulty.
Enjoy your evening!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Dec 21st
Thank you all for the words of welcome.
Tonight was pork chop skillet dinner, everything in one pan! Kind of like that when I have been baking and making candy. Today I made a loaf of Banana Nut Bread, baked chocolate chip cookies, made rocky road candy and peanut brittle.
Maryz - Sorry about your brother. Prayers said for him. That get together the other day sounds like you put your time in the kitchen.
Tina - I will include your Dad in my prayers.
Becca - Sounds like a good visit. It is raining here tonight too.
FarmChick - I went to the gym and did an hour on the eliptical. I must burn off the calories from the cookie testing! lol
Irish - Sounds like you have Christmas well under control. I have a few packages to wrap, once they get here Christmas Eve! Baking is happening these days. I plan to have a very full freezer!
Have a great day everyone!
Carol
