SUPPER CLUB - Sun, NOVEMBER 1st
Where has this year gone?? Zooom!!! it's zipped right by me! At this rate, I figure we'll be opening Christmas gifts tomorrow morning! Oh, and CHICKIE - 54 sewing days left. Just sayin' . . . .
We've had a LOT of hard rain and some light winds last few days. I think some more is forecast for today. it better not take out our TV as it's Seahawk Sunday! Lots of flooding rivers but none are near us.
CHICKIE - the party sounds like a blast! And I can picture it!! Lots of creative costumes, too. Autumn is OK on her hill and safe from flooding, but thanks for asking. She says it's been really dramatic, weatherwise, though! I'll tell Bill about the Bible therapy. But we have a BIG bible! lol!
TINA - so sorry about your niece's attitude. but don't let her suck the joy out of what you did for her kids, though.
CAROL7 - I hope you get some rain - if you want it. We've had plenty, thank you very much.
IRISH - Dust bunnies, pumpkin pie, and Halloween costumes. you day has been FILLED! Did you get any TOTers last night? Thank you for the recipe! ;o)
BECCA - new neighbors! They may be really nice! We will probably be getting lots of new neighbors in the next year with all the new houses being built around us.
Supper tonite will be chicken, I think. I'm not sure yet how it's going to be fixed. But some noodles will be on the menu, with asparagus and salad. for afters, there is always the dwindling bag of Halloween treats that we bought just in case we actually had the first TOTer in 28 years. lol!! We are always prepared!
What are you preparing for tonite's Sunday feast?

Good morning--Mary, I swear when DH went to the doctor about his ganglion cyst, the doc said that's what old country doctors did to treat the cysts, and they used the BIG old family Bible to perform the treatment. I haven't had a problem with mine in nearly 20 years! Just sayin'... 54 days--YIKES!!! Sew much to do...
Tina--I know exactly how you feel. I am careful who I sew for. I remember my grandma going to my cousin's house and finding her (Grandma's) quilts she had loaned my cousin in the yard in mud with the dogs chewing on them. These were antique, hand-made quilts! I know my Grandma was sick, sick, sick. I used my best Diawabo Japanese fabrics one year for a table runner for my SIL only to find the colors didn't go with her decor, so she used it for a cat bed in the downstairs. I make things for her still, but I'm pretty careful with color and not too fancy or expensive. I have another SIL who loves anything I make and hangs table runners and potholders on the wall as art--that definitely makes me feel special! Some people just don't care--I know it hurts you... those bags aren't whipped out in an hour or so. I love them!!!
I forgot... dinner here... More taco soup! It was delicious last night. Of course, there are left-over ToT goodies. We only had Ava in her little doggy dinosaur costume that Meagan had made. Meagan and Briar got treats (human kind), and Ava got doggy treats. We didn't have any little kids. DH is happy with all the goodies left in the basket.
Enjoy!

We had fun at the church last night watching Jaz play and Easton just loves kids so he was running around hugging them and looking around from their back at their faces LOL he's a goofy little boy
Jazmyne won stuffed animals, 2 cakes, a dozen cookies and a sack full of candy! She really had a blast
she gave one of the cakes to my DSIL for her birthday
It was a fun 2 hours then we took the cake to my DSIL for Jaz and stayed there till 10
My great nieces' mother isn't my niece, she's my nephews girlfriend. And they were at my brother house when we got there with the cake and sure enough Jayda didn't have her bag, she was using a blue plastic pumpkin, she didn't look very happy but probably because she was tired, she turned 2 July 28th, cool thing, her and Jazmyne have the same birthday
and on the 7th of November is Holly and Easton's birthday
she gave herself a birthday present LOL
I think we'll be cleaning the frige of all leftovers today so our supper will be a smorgasbord
Tina

Hello everyone,
Rainy & a good day for sewing reading watching ball games.Anything inside.
Chickie the ganglion cyst story made me cring.I cannot imagine smashing a BIG book on it.
The story on quilts bought back a memory of my Mother. She gave all my brothers each 5 quilts when they got married. They were used more to keep you warm then. She went to visit one of my DBs & the quilts were out in garage to be put in garage sale.Made her sick.As all were hand quilted .I have give mine to my DGDs & DD to be saved.
Mary z That would be a lot of new neighbors at one time.
Tina I felt your pain about the tote bag.I have given hand made quilts & never got any acknowledgement. So I am selective now who gets them. Some people have no clue the work that goes into hand work.
I am going to have banned salad today.DH has one of his dinners he likes.Fetticiotti with chicken & brocolli. He found him a big donut in the bakery this AM.lol...Becca

Good morning,
We went for 36 years and never a TOTer - moving here certainly changed that! Over 200 last night.
There are a few leftovers and maybe I will make a small batch of my good chili and cornbread.
Goofing off here in Primary, better behave myself and be a example! LOL
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sun, NOVEMBER 1st
Good afternoon from a, now, very sunny but chilly, SW. Pa....We had rain this morning but during breakfast, the sun came out and it's gorgeous out there.....Inside I'm nice and toasty, sweat shirt and socks, and the furnace doing it's job.....
We remembered to turn the clocks back although, during the night, Jim kept asking what time was it...I think he was extra pumped because of the Notre Dame win...Next week they come to town and play Pitt and even though, Chris got a degree there and we have a few grand kids that have graduated or there now, we're still rooting for ND, that's given!
We did go to early Mass and then onto breakfast...I've often wondered, how come, when a person gets older, they feel they have the right to complain.....So, we didn't get our regular waitress (the other Jim complained), we had to sit at another booth, (Jim's lady friend complained), the pancakes weren't to his liking (the other Jim complained), one thing after the other...I feel sorry for the servers when they get people like these 2 but we love them and put up with it almost every week, lol.....Oh well, maybe it makes me think when I start to complain.....
Jim is in front of the TV, watching the Steelers and Big Ben is back...I'm happy to see him back but still upset with the Steeler organization....GO SEAHAWKS!
Mary, I also had heard about the "Big Book method" and quite a few years ago, an elderly doctor took care of Jim's sister's that way...Now if a doctor would try that, he'd be sued.....Well, Jim is a happy "left over candy" camper....I had fixed a whopping 7 bags and we have 4 left over plus all the extra candy in the cupboard...
Tina, I really feel bad about the bags but then, consider the source...What a shame not to realize the love and time that went into making something like that...I think, we've all been through it, in 1 way or another.....
Well, the dress (costume) is gone! Dan came yesterday to pick up the dress and also needed a couple Velcro strips put on his jacket...While he was waiting I was telling him other stories of how Jim and I used to dress up...Jim dressed as a woman and went to the firehall and everyone wanted to buy him drinks...Guess he looked pretty hot...And the 1st time we met Kevin's future inlaws, Jim and I dressed in ratty old night clothes..I wore red/white stripped 1 piece PJ, stuffed with a pillow to make me look pregnant, a robe that should have been thrown away years ago and a ratty wig..Jim wore PJs and a robe and we actually drove about 20 miles, looking like that, to get to their house....It's a wonder they allowed Cindy to marry into our family...But, we do have some darn good memories, weird, but good......
As for our dinner, that is really up in the air...It might end up being hot dogs and beans or that scrambler we didn't have the other night....And there is 1 little piece of pumpkin pie for Jim's afters, unless Jim ate it when I wasn't watching.....
Happy eating...................
