SUPPER CLUB Sunday, Oct 18th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Oct 18, 2015 4:34 am

Good Morning!

First and foremost -

JOANNE - Happy Birthday!! We miss you here in Supper Club and on the forum in general. Sending you birthday hugs and hope you are doing OK! You are missed!!

IRISH - oh no! Not you, too!! Good that you have a skin doc in your family. Don't tick him off!! Keep him on your good side at all times!

CHICKIE - so just what kind of meat is this you have that's so tough?? Glad you got to meet Lyn. She is just as sweet as you! Loved your photo of the two of you. Did you cut your hair? It was really cute!

JANA - glad all went so purrfectly in your class! How often do you have a class? Once a month? You teach all kinds of things! Fun to be you! And also to be the girls learning from you!

BECCA - funny, isn't it, that dishes that were staples when our families were young, we've completely forgotten about! I have several of those dishes! Every now and then once comes to mind. Like cheese fondue.

CAROL7 - yes, we did enjoy the wine-tasting. We hit three wineries, which is just about enough for one day. Today we plan to go to a brewery with a big screen TV to watch the Seahawks play. We can't get ESPN in our campground.

As for supper tonite - I have no clue. I brought along chicken in the freezer. I could make an Italian chicken casserole with it, or ?? We have a grill with us, too. But we may eat at the brewery/pub place we plan to go to for the game. In that case, then supper will probably be cheese and crackers and carrot sticks!

Do you have a plan in place yet? Feel free to steal my carrot sticks idea! lol!

Mary, sounds like you're having fun :-)
Irish, so sorry about your skin cancer, hopefully it's just there and no more. Hugs

We're going to the Klobase today and depending on how many of Frankie's brothers and sisters come down for it will depend on what and where we eat. Sometimes we all meet at a restaurant after for supper and chit chat for hours, always fun :-)

Good afternoon from dreary, sometimes a few tears from above, cold, SW. Pa....Yep, it's darn right cold but not that I would ever complain........

Joanne, a very Happy Birthday, hoping it's the best of days....I do miss seeing you at the table and often wonder how you're doing....

Mary, All your running around and wine tasting has made me tired...I can't keep up...How is Scottie doing?

Tina, been meaning to ask but what is a Klobase? I've seen you mention it and must have missed if you said what it was....But, it sounds like a good family get together....Does sound like fun.....

Becca, we often have left over pizza and thank goodness Jim doesn't mind left overs....It's been years since the kids were all home and I still haven't learned to cook for 2....

We went to early Mass and then onto breakfast that lasted until well after noon...We really did have a lot to catch up on....My bandage was a hit and try as I did, no one would believe me when I tired to blame it on Jim.....
Thank you all for the hope full wishes...We've been very lucky, having a doc in the family and what all he's been able to do, especially for Jim...Mine is very minor..

Jim is watching the Steeler game but I'm joining Mary in watching the Seahawks....No black arm bancs in our house, Notre Dame won again last night....Next week is an off week so we get a rest.....
For dinner, my left overs are all gone but I'm feeling lazy (again) so it might be soup and sandwiches.......

Happy eating................

Good afternoon,

Just walked in the door from Church.

I teach my girls twice a month. Once a month the Relief Society meets together for what used to call Homemaking meeting. There we can learn crafts, child rearing, cooking, or whatever else strikes their fancy. Word is getting around that I might know how to do a few things, so once in awhile, they ask to teach them. Oh, Relief Society is the women's organization of the church.

Dinner - ribs, baked potatoes and a salad.

Enjoy!
Jana

Are the 9ners playing the Seahawks? If they are, Maryz, you are assured of a win. My 9ners are terrible!

Klobase is a Czechoslovakia sausage or Bohemian, Frankie can't remember for sure, his grandparents and that generation started it 87 years ago and Frankie's family always cooks every year, Frankie has never missed a shin dig :-) they also have BBQ beef, potato salad, coleslaw, pinto beans, drinks and desserts

Good afternoon! The dogs and I just returned from a walk. It seems to be somewhat warmer than I thought it was to be. We had fun traipsing through the pastures and over the trails. I took my walking stick with me this time and stayed upright. Mom gave me her hiking stick that she used when she went with the Audubon club to Talamena (?) ARK and on other bird watching treks. It’s very sturdy and kept me from getting up close and personal with the stones and grasses.

Joanne—Happy birthday! We really miss you! HUGS!!!

Mary—that was a calf we butchered that couldn’t walk. DH can’t bear to throw anything away and salvaged the meat. We didn’t have a grinder handy, so it’s just in packages. I did get some of it ground later but missed the ones hiding in back of the corn, apples and pecans. I have no idea why it is so tough other than it didn’t get to use its muscles much. Even DH says it’s tough, and he usually won’t admit to anything. Yes, I cut my hair. It was really hot, and I was on my second shower of the day and fixing my hair to go in public… out came the little scissors, and CHOP!!! I’m trying to decide to go back to bangs. After seeking the between brow furrows in the photo (inherited), I’m thinking I better go back to bangtox and get out the scissors again.

Irish—so sorry to hear about the skin cancer. I’m waiting my turn… I was/am a sun worshiper with fair hair/skin. Sigh! I have trouble cooking for two as well, so there are lots of leftovers around here. I never mind (no cooking!), but I’m sure DH gets tired of it. I got cold last night and flipped on the heater before I would get up this morning. I should have waited… hot the rest of the week. I’ll just turn it off… but 61 is too cool for me!

Tina—your festival sounds like loads of fun and fabulous food! Enjoy and have some for me!!!

Jana—your Relief Society sounds like the K-State Extension Office’s Home Demonstration units that were popular around here in the 50s. There are still a couple around, but they are nothing like they used to be with their classes and lessons.

Becca—thanks for the hair compliment! I do like it shorter. The ponytail was the first time I had long hair in 50 years. I usually don’t wear it around my face. I’m looking forward to the cookie recipe!

I have leftovers from last evening, but now that Becca has mentioned pizza… I think one is calling from the freezer. (It’s one of the Little Caesar kits from fundraising.) I have salad makings to go with it.

Hope your teams win! (How’s that for neutral?!)
