SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Sept 19th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Sep 19, 2015 3:04 am

Happy weekend!! We are going to have a nice crisp day, going to about 70*, I think.

BECCA - Pork roast sounds great! and I have one in our freezer . . .

CHICKIE - You mean Doyal didn't eat up all those lemon bars yet?? I could have gotten in there! I love lemon anything!

IRISH - I'll take that kitty!! We'll be in Tinley Park, just south of Chicago, the morning of Sept 24th. How far away is that?? Maybe we can work something out . .

JANA - well, was Michael surprised at your supper plans last night? lol!

I need to quilt a table runner I made as a thank-you gift for some friends. Then start in on my CHORES-TO-DO-BEFORE-WE-LEAVE list. It keeps growing and growing.

We have one chicken breast, cooked. I need to make something out of that. I might just slice it and have sandwiches. Or chicken tacos? or a small pot of chix noodle veggie soup? I'm leaning towards the soup. What direction are you leaning? Toward the kitchen? Subway? Or maybe Cracker Barrel??

Good morning,

Yes, he was surprised. I told him that we could eat chicken and trains - he laughed and wanted Mexican and trains. So we grabbed take out and headed for a train watching spot. It was good, but the restaurant forgot part of my dinner - uggh - I really wanted that tostada! Need to check better.

No idea for dinner - something to warm up the insides. It is getting cold here - low 40's at night and barely 65 for our high. I have re-packed the car for winter already - coats, hats, blankets and gloves. Later I will add the shovel for snow.

Enjoy!
Jana

JANA - don't forget the kitty litter to toss under the tires! Or I guess you could use floor mats. Sorry about the tostada. Bet they noticed it 2 minutes after you drove way and ate the evidence of their mistake!

IRISH - guess we won't be coming for the kitty. Bill didn't mind a third cat, but he blanched at the thought of a kitty litter box in his new truck! lol!!!

And I decided on supper - soup it is! I even had broth in the freezer from our turkey last week.

Good early afternoon from a very sunny, very warm, purrrfect, SW. Pa....Sitting here in shorts and barefeet, it's kind of hard to visualize Jana winterizing the car...BUT, we all know it's coming, hopefully later, much later.......

Mary, oh how I wish we were closer and for sure you would have that kitten...Chicago just isn't "right down the road" as my Mother would say.....But, you know, you could just make a wrong turn and end up in SW. Pa....Just a minor oops, right? We'd get to get together and you'd have yourself a new fur baby, win/win.......

Jana, I love those kind of surprises but unfortunately, we don't have them much any more...Of course there are times, when Jim isn't sure what he's eating, does that count??? We gave a few beat "train watcher" spots around here that you would love.....

Today would have been my oldest DS and wife's 40th anniversary...She passed away unexpectedly 10 years ago after surgery for a broken ankle...And on that same day 40 years ago, we got the results that Chris had Hodgkins...DS had just left on his honeymoon when the doctor called with that terrible news...So many years ago, so much has happened, but it seems like it was yesterday...But, this is also a happy day, that DS' son (our oldest DGS) chose his parents day to be married and they are celebrating their 5th today.....

Doing a few uglies and then on to the sewing room...Jim will be glued in front of the TV (with eyes closed part of the time)....Notre Dame is on at 3:30 (our time) and then the Pirates are on late tonight....

As for dinner, probably left over casserole....Jim liked it last night, will love it tonight....Mary, don't want you to think I've turned "turn coat"...Instead of that banned stuff, I ate buttered noodles and fresh broccoli......

Happy eating.................

Hello all,
Mary' z I too love anything lemon or tart.Do not care for real rich or sweet.Know Bill wants to keep that truck shining.I know how men are about their trucks.

Jana You must get an early Winter.Sorry they left out part of your Dinner.

We have pork roast left so it will be on menu. And since Chickie mentioned apples I will make some. And we have sweet potatoes too.Plenty here to eat.
Today is my youngest DBs Birthday. This is the one that lost his wife Aug 23.But I just called him & he is visiting my other DBs .They were headed up to a Mtn Town there close to them.Glad he is doing something.........Becca

Good Evening All.....started as a definite chilly and misty day....but warmed up as it morphed into afternoon.....

sorry I am late again......about 6 days late I believe.....and no....the Beer Fest didn't take us over....although a good time was had by all......its the cutting....sewing....and ripping out....that has overtaken my time.....kept sewing my tumblers together.....the rows were growing slowly....more cutting.....more rows sewn.....thought something was wrong.....tried it out on the bed.....it would have been good on a double sized king bed.....width ways......I appear to have a brain that doesn't kick in when it should.....at the right time.......hence the ripping......
however....I shall blame it all on my audio book......it was a really good one this time.....

what luck that my freezers still holds a few of the meals from my bulk cooking/baking days.....and didn't have to stop and think....just whatever fell out that day.....

today we went out for breakfast.....and guess what......4 friends that were caravanning about 15 miles away.....surprised us with their company.....now that was great.....and even better.....no cooking supper tonight.....just coffee and a slice of Coffee and Walnut cake...later on......

so as there is no menu tonight.......I bid you all goodnight....take care.....and will TRY not to be late tomorrow

Ha, ha! You know my DH!!! Actually we still have a couple of lemon bars left. I keep them in the fridge… out of sight, out of mind!!! They would all be gone if I didn’t parse them out sparingly!

Our day is beautiful here! Sunny and 70s as well. We had a thunderstorm last evening, and in came the cool front. Tomorrow will be warmer again. I had a nice visit with Mom, but Odie was with me and didn’t want to spend time inside—little pill!

Lady Carol—I have the same problem with my sewing… As ye sew, sew shall ye rip… Sigh!

Jana—we haven’t had fall here yet. I can’t imagine getting ready for winter. DH is mowing the yard.

Irish—glad you are focusing on all the good things today, including happy memories!

Becca—we really enjoy the fried apples with anything pork. I try to make them not too sweet or too buttery… just a bit of both along with cinnamon. YUM!!! I like potato cakes with applesauce (or fried apples)… is that German, or what!

Dinner here… those delightful little pink Gulf delicacies… along with broccoli, rice and red beans and salad.

Enjoy!

Irish I vote for that win win situation :-) Come on Mary, you know you want to ;-)
I think we're having chicken, not sure in what form yet. Soup does sound yummy! It's cool, drizzling, breezy here today too :-) I love this kind of weather, I'm even a little chilly :-) way better than being hot though. Frankie is working on our walkway in the backyard and I'm washing fabric and coming outside to watch a little but I'm sitting under the gazebo so I don't melt LOL ;-)
