SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Sept 16th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Sep 16, 2015 3:19 am

Good Morning!

We are now on the downhill side of September! Yikes! Time is going so quickly! Better get those Valentines ready to mail! lol!

TINA - I do back stretching exercises that my PT gave me when my back hurts. If I keep up with them, it's almost like an anesthesia. It's too bad Holly can't see the flaws in her boyfriend. But sometimes, people just have to take the rough road to learn.

IRISH - you son, Terry, sounds like a real stand-up guy who has his life priorities in order. Wonder where he got that . . . . . Your poor Jim probably needs some cinnamon rolls to soothe his wounds...

JANA - I'm seeing a lot of flooding in Utah! I hope my sister and BIL don't get caught up in that! They will be at the KOA in Richfield. And what's with all this banned food suddenly??? Has anyone here actually looked up the word BANNED in the dictionary lately??

Last night we had another impromptu party! They just happen! We had steak, sweet potatoes, and salad. My DB and SIL stopped by and we played the Golf card game, then feasted. It's so nice that our friends and my family grew to like each other so quickly!

Last night as I was loading the dishwasher, Scottie, in a supreme effort to perform his duties in the "pre-wash cycle" had himself propped up on the door of the dishwasher trying to lick those yummy steak-tasty plates. I tried to remove him, he got his paw caught in the rack, it scared him, and he started to run, dragging the filled rack right out of the dishwasher where it bounced once on the floor and skidded halfway across the kitchen! He got loose, ran into the dining room where he turned and barked at the rack sitting in the middle of the floor. After my first gape, I couldn't stop laughing! But what a terrible crash!! And do you know - not a single dish was broken! But it did take DH 20 minutes to get the dishwasher back together. Then I had to reload it all. Scottie slunk off to find a quiet corner in which to sulk, and soon he was sound asleep - probably resting up for his next misadventure!

Our friends are leaving this morning, so Bill and I will have the last of the chili from two nights ago for supper tonite. And some crackers - or maybe cornbread.

I hope your supper is less eventful than ours was!!

Good morning! Guess I’ve been AWOL… just get busy and forget to get here… We’re definitely eating well, however. The last two evenings, we have feasted on smoked ribs… fall-off-the-bones larruping good! They were sent from our house contractor via #3 son. Zack gets his cherry and hickory wood from DH for his smoker and remembers us when he makes a batch of ribs. A delightful trade!!!

Tonight it will be back to my cooking… pork chops, fried apples, broccoli and salad with lemon bars for dessert. I baked the lemon bars yesterday.

I’ve really been wanting pond fruit, but the trips have been unsuccessful… They all got away the other day…

Irish—I have a feeling your son and grandson will be MUCH happier and so much better off with the new changes… it’s not always fair to “stick it out for the kids”—they know what’s going on and are relieved when it’s over… Best wishes to them!!!

Mary—those are some good dishes!!! I’m sure you all had good laughs over that… poor Scottie!!! Our dogs are like sharks circling the table when we eat things they like… They were rewarded with the rib bones the last two evenings. One time Tinker Bell helped herself from the counter… We know better now… well, some of us… where to leave edibles…

Enjoy!

Good morning from sunny, getting warmer, SW. Pa. We are back to summer temps and it's great...

Oh Mary, You sure do have the excitement going on in your house. Poor Scottie, that must have been tramatic, but so darn funny...
And as the saying goes about great minds, I got up this morning thinking about mixing up a batch of cinnamon rolls. Jim will be thrilled. And you're also right about Terry...

Chickie, boy those ribs sound so good...A very good trade!

Jana, I just read about the terrible flooding in your state...Boy, you never know!

Not sure what's on the schedule for today but it is a stay at home day, I hope. We do have yard work waiting and I do want to visit with the sewing machine...

For dinner, something on the grill, maybe chicken..Also have some fresh cauliflower and of course those cinnamon rolls for after.....

Happy eating....

Good morning,

Mary - Richfield is north of most of the flooding. They do need to pay careful attention to the weather forecasts, staying out of dry washes and slot canyons. These flash floods were just that, came up very suddenly and caused terrible loss of life and property.

Chickie- good to see you. I was beginning to worry something had happened.

I had a big old tomcat who decided that my meatloaf I had put on the table for dinner, was his. I had gone back in the kitchen to get the rest of dinner and came back and the entire meatloaf was gone and the kitty had a very fat tummy! Nothing left for us, either!

Dinner tonight - I have no idea - it is too early in the morning to plan dinner! Hopefully something will come to mind before dinner time, or we may just pull a Irish and let the xar decide.

Enjoy,
Jana

LOL Mary, what a vision I had of that LOL poor Scottie ;o)
Yummy Chickie, sounds so good!
Well my banned food had to be substituted for burritos, Frankie was out of everything for lunch and we were out of bread so I made burritos so he could have some for lunches. So tonight will be my banned food and salad and maybe half of a baked sweet potato. :o)

Me and Easton are off to Walmart for milk and bread and then to the LQS to see if she carries embroidery thread and the colors I need.

I am behaving when it comes to banned food - tonight we are having sausage tortellini soup. See I can cook beyond banned!

We are not where the flooding is - it is on the Arizona border - I an near the Idaho border, way north. We do have localized flooding on some streets, but that is about it. The not so good, but good thing is, we have snow on the high peaks of the mountains across the valley. It is too early for my liking of snow!
