Re: Question about thread????????
Hi Lois,
I use Mettler Silk Finished Cotton thread. (It has had purplewriting on the end of the spool). It is 50 weight. Last week QIAD had it on sale.

Re: Question about thread????????
Just finished day one at my machine quilting retreat. They said that you can use any thread that pleases you. What works best in your machine and the look you want. Heavier thread will show off you quilting stitches and the finer threads will disappear in your quilt. The one suggestion was to use the same color on the front as well as the back. No matter how careful you set the tensions on your machine, using two different colors runs the risk of "polka dots" from one of the thread loops popping through.

Re: Question about thread????????
I, too, use Mettler on my Bernina. I have only done a couple small projects on my Handi Quilter Sweet 16, and used thread by Superior Thread Co.

Re: Question about thread????????
Mostly Superior, Gutterman and now Aurifil. I like that they don't have as much lint as other threads. The Aurifil 50 "sinks" into the seam and has less bulk--I need all the help with accuracy that I can get now that I'm doing a lot of 6" blocks. My quilt shop has Gutterman, and I order Superior and Aurifil.
You said "quilt"... I use Aurifil as often as possible, but I have limited colors. So... Gutterman, Aurifil, YLI...
