SUPPER CLUB - Thurs, July 9th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Jul 09, 2015 3:26 am

Good Morning!

In another 48 hours and we'll be just about ready to pull out for our long trip to Alaska. If the cats don't decide to take a powder! They seem to know and despite our best efforts to keep them corralled, they often disappear at the last minute. On-lookers would get a side-ache, laughing at us trying to round them up! It's almost like - well, herding cats!

LADY CAROL - so happy to have you back! But what an UGHO hospital appointment! Most everyone I know with a chronic cough has acid reflux. They start taking meds for it and the cough clears up. But there are those with more serious problems. Guess they shouldn't be overlooked. But poor you!

IRISH - congrats on finishing another quilt! What are the embroidered blocks like? Well, of course, Cari's dad can't afford to contribute to her wedding - it sounds like he's got quite a few bills of his own to pay!

TINA - no matter how bad the grilled cheese was, they were still better than mine, I'll lay you odds! I can't seem to not burn them. Looks like you'll be eating squash for a while. Hope Frankie knows how to cook it! I have to admit, after I had major surgery in 1997, came home, and ate a few of Bill's meals, I got well enough to cook pretty gosh darn fast!!

BECCA - up where your kids live it probably did feel chilly a few days ago after the extreme heat we've been having. But a relief to have to wear a sweater while sitting outside! Today, we'll have 87*. They will probably be 5-10 deg cooler.

JANA - so how was the ravioli casserole? It sounds truly delish!!

CHICKIE, Chickie, chickie - tsk tsk. Such a blatant disregard of rules. I bet you were in trouble a lot as a kid!

Well, I never cooked last night after all. some friends dropped by at our invitation for wine, cheese, and crackers. It was our little bon voyage party with them. We leave for AK on Sat in our RV and they are leaving for AK on Monday via a 2-week cruise. By the time they left, I wasn't up for starting supper so we just had ice cream. worked for me!

Tonite we are having supper with Warren and the couple, Tex & Annette, who are going to Alaska with us. So no cooking for me - again!

Can you figure out a way to dodge the cooking detail tonite?

Mary, Frankie brought home take out last night, it was really yummy, he even said he was glad it was his turn to cook :-)
I'm going to lay something out of the freezer, most likely hamburger, he makes very good tacos. When I was working and had to work OT, that was his go to meal :-) the kids loved it, they got to help chop everything else up! Enjoy your evening out! It sounded like supper last night was every kids dream :-)

Good morning!

Yes, Mary, I WAS always in trouble as a kid. I couldn’t help it. “No!” to me was just a word that meant “Oh, yes I will!” I was awful. But… my transgression last night was delicious!!! It wasn’t my fault… Really! DH made me do it!!! I like grilled cheese with a really DEEP toast—maybe it’s just that I’ve developed a taste for burnt. (My smoke alarm sounds frequently when I cook.) You can make my grilled cheese any day!!! I need to figure out how I don’t have to cook as often as you don’t… Enjoy!!!

Lady Carol—that was an awful ordeal! I found some CUTE novelty fabrics the other day when I went to Severy KS—exactly what you would be looking for—sunglasses, high heels and dresses (all different pieces of fabric) and got them for my 12-year-old granddaughter. I wonder if you could order something like that…

I will play by the “rules” tonight for dinner… it will probably be that chicken taco salad that hasn’t happened yet. Hopefully there is a piece of that apple pie left as well.

Enjoy!

Good morning from sometimes sunny, sometimes overcast, SW. Pa...Mother Nature must have had a late night, it's taking her a little longer to wake up and decide what our day will be....As long as she doesn't throw snow in the mix, we'll be OK....

Mary, now I have visions of you and Bill "rounding" up the fur kids...They do seem to sense when something is in the works, I know our's always do...No matter what little tricks I'd try to pull, they would seem to catch on...We've had to cancel a few vet appointments because of elusive furkids....I also have visions of the "caravan" headed northward....This last quilt is all flowers in shades of lilac/purple and is quite pretty....Not sure who might get this one although it is DIL from NC's favorite colors but......

Tina, I'm with Mary in the grilled cheese department...Mine sure don't look like the ones they show on TV..But, with a little doctoring up, they're OK...You need to take it easy and be pampered....I planted some squash and will probably have way more than I want...I have 1 casserole recipe that I like and that's it....

Jana, that ravioli does sound good..Would be a good one for when the guys come from N. Carolina...How about sharing your recipe?

Chickie, I don't know why Mary would think you were a hand full when you were growing up, lol......

Finally made our reservations for Reno and knowing Jim like I do, we will let Jim think this is a gift from Kathy and Tim...If it were up to Jim, he'd be content to sit in his recliner but every once in awhile, he needs that little push, so he's being pushed, big time...We'll be going over Labor Day and only for a week...Can't be away from the fur kids any longer, lol....

Last night's pizza was delish...Now tonight's is a different story...I have an appointment this afternoon so, knowing my car like we all do, who knows what or where we might stop on the way home....But, if nothing else, always a good burger on the grill.....

Happy eating...................

Good afternoon, hot here so I got work outside finished.Did more weed whacking around my flowers & cut lots of ferns down. They were out of hand.Love them but they get too thick.

Carol That sounds like the medical world today.Shuffle Shuffle you from one place to another. And you wind up knowing nothing at the end.I wish I never had to go to Dr.Hope you find your fabric.

Chickie I would never think you would be a rebel.lol

Irish Glad you are going to visit DD.

Mary z Guess you are counting the hrs.Lucky you no cooking.DH eats ice cream a lot for his supper as we have our big meal if you can call it that.in mid day.

Tina My DH coughs with his asthma & COPD all the time. And if you have bronchitis you really cough.Hope you get better soon.Just let DH pamper you.

I made a meat loaf,enough for 2 days,Will add baked potato,& salad.DH has his s'mores. Becca

Good morning -

First - here is the recipe for the Baked Ravioli Cassarole

Ingredients

1 bag (25 Oz. Bag) Frozen Ravioli
1 jar (26 Oz. Jar) Marinara Sauce
2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Parmesan Cheese, For Sprinkling

Preparation

Heat oven to 400°F. Spray bottom and sides of a 9×13 rectangular baking dish with cooking spray.

Spread 3/4 cup of the pasta sauce in baking dish. Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce; top with half of the remaining pasta sauce and half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers once, starting with ravioli. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil; bake uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes longer or until bubbly and hot in the center. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

I used a mix of beef and cheese ravioli - good and simple!

I also did a Lemony chicken asparagus stir fry - it came out pretty good - too much lemon juice - so when I make it again - DH asked for it, I will reduce the amount of lemon.

Dinner tonight is in the crock pot - pot roast - love that recipe!

I am in the Batt Cave starting a wall hanging for August - it is watermelons. Seeing what scraps that I have to make it. From the looks, I will have to just get something for the back.

Enjoy!
Jana
