SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 8th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jul 08, 2015 3:53 am

Good Morning!

We had a much cooler day yesterday - "only" 81*. Felt almost chilly! lol! Today will go to 85*. We even have chance of rain in our forecast! Though not for another 5 days. we'll be gone on our trip by then.

JANA - I know your DS had a happy birthday if he was with you! My youngest will be 39 on her next birthday. I'm not sure how our kids seem to be getting 'so old'!

IRISH - Kathy must be happy in her new life because I can see her smiles clear through your posts and her phone calls to you! So happy Mr. Schwann's finally found you! and he remembered all about your prefernces, right down to the shorts! And did he have a good excuse for passing you by for so long?

BECCA - I'm with you and Irish on the sheets - I like flannel! Everything stays put! But when it's 90*+, I pull the flannels. I got these sateen sheets by accident - I purposely steered clear of other sateens on the shelf, but on this brand, it was printed so tiny that I didn't see it. Sneaky Costco!

JOANNE - I figured you had gotten locked in at Mama's and were happily glued to your favorite table!

CHICKIE - chix tacos and apple pie sound pretty tasty! I can't let Bill see that! He'll expect more!

We're having hamburger stroganoff here. I cheat and 'make' my sauce with Cream of Mushroom Soup and adding sour cream to it. I think I have a package of broccoli in the freezer for a veggie. If not, it's going to be peas.

Bon Appetit`!

Good morning! Mary, your weather is warmer than we are! Yesterday was your kind of weather all the time I drove to Severy (an hour west of here). I ran into rain about 3 miles from our house and ran my wipers all the way—intermittent, low and sometimes high—and all the way back! It was in the upper 60s temperaturewise.

Well, dinner here last night… those sneaky little pink crustaceans from the ocean found their way from the freezer to our plates along with some rice pilaf (you inspired me there!). I still want some tacos!!! But, I arrived late from Severy, so it was a quick supper.

As for tonight… DH was left alone yesterday without the dogs (they rode shotgun with me since it was cool), and he found himself down at the pond. We’ll be having an eclectic mix of pond fruits this evening… bass, crappie and even a small bullhead—one of those whiskered f**h. I think scalloped potatoes will accompany as well as sliced tomatoes and/or a salad. There is still some apple pie…

Sorry, Mary! Not my fault, or is it… I left him alone for several hours… Oh, I like hamburger stroganoff that way, too. I also like the purchased meatballs with that soup/sour cream sauce over the meatballs and noodles.

We're going for upper 70s today, 80s tomorrow and back to the 90s and no rain for the rest of the week... back to summer here! We have watermelons growing like crazy!!! The rain will be good for them and then the sun!

Enjoy!

Good morning from a cooler, rainy, dreary, SW. Pa...It's only going to be in the 70s today with more rain...We have some really hard rains and sadly, I think, too much for the garden...My tomatoes are not looking too good....
Last night we were watching the Pirate game and all of sudden, they called the game and the ground crew ran out to cover the field...The wind came so fast, they had a terrible time getting the tarp from blowing away and at one point, one of the crew actually got blown inside as it rolled...Some of the ball players ran out to help untangle...Kind of scary for a while....But, finally after a long delay, Pirates prevailed.....

Mr. Schwann was here already this morning and once again, looking pretty darn good...Nice way to start the day...Kind of made up for the lack of sunshine.......And now our freezer is full......

Mary, Kathy is happy in her new life and we couldn't be happier for her...Cari's wedding plans are really falling into place and she and Kathy will shop for dresses when she's comes east...
One thing that really got my BP spiking....Cari had a text from her father (Kathy's ex) and he told her he'd not be able to help her with the wedding! He's never helped with her schooling or anything so I guess this was expected...But, on the other hand, here's a guy, who Kathy felt, in the last 5 years of their marriage, had spent over $250,000 on drink, drugs and cigarettes...You just wonder sometimes!

Joanne, sorry to hear you'll not be eating Market Day goodies...But, you've had Schwann and you always have Mama's....

Chickie, see what happens when you leave a man alone, lol....Home grown watermelons, that would be wonderful....

Not sure what's on the schedule for today....I've finished another embroidered quilt and need to get it quilted...Once again, it's too big to use the machine, so I guess I need to get with it..This just might be a good day....

I should be good for quite a while, menu wise...Just open the freezer and I'm sure something will fall out.... And tonight will be Pizza!

Happy eating...............

Good morning,

Cold, rainy, thundering and windy -who's complaining - not me! We so need the rain and yesterday my pest control guy was out and sprayed for creepy crawlys and fed the lawn, so the rain is good.

Need a quick run to Costco, to return the set of suitcases we didn't need for Stu.

Dinner - I have a baked ravioli cassarole recipe I am wanting to try. I will add a salad and some bread as well. The cassarole has sauce, raviolis and lots of cheese - all layered together.

Irish - so fun to hear of Kathy's trips. Reno is about a three hour drive from San Franciso and there is so many things to see along the way.

Enjoy!

You all are making me hungry. Frankie made grilled cheese and soup last night, which was nice of him but I just don't understand how his grilled cheese come out blah LOL I ate it and was happy to have something. Sadly he's a messy cook though plus there was other dishes and I really gotta get at least that done today. I'm falling behind with the squash from the garden, there's a pile of them now on the countertop. I really hope for supper tonight that he'll bring something from town.....I know I'm bad.

Good Evening All.....weather has dipped a bit....chilly and a blowy wind.....and that weatherman promised us a heatwave......going to make him wash his mouth out with soap......

had my hospital appointment about my cough and my "falling over" thyroid......it was a different consultant....the old one had retired.....have to say firstly....I was not impressed.....she seemed to need reassurance from the nurse each time she made a statement...then there was the needle in the throat.....and a camera up my nose.....and down the throat.....absolutely awful.....so I decided.....I will keep my cough for ever and ever.....am not going near that camera again.....quite disgusting.....strangely.....all the time we were in Spain.....I didn't cough once.....just big blisters....methinks we should move to sunnier climes.......

on a nicer note.....I have been keeping busy in the sewing room.....made another skirt for our Willow....a double layer one this time....white b/g with black scottie dogs with red leads and red collars(I think)I am so chuffed with it.....now its more shopping for fabric.....I know....I know....but nothing suitable for a 10 yo.....don't think our Lilly wants owls or blowsy flowers.....more like Shoes/Bags/Girly stuff......
after this week.....I am hoping to learn all about putting photos on here or on FB at least.....just hoping I can be fitted into a course....

and so to todays menu.....Pork and Egg Pie Salad.....(yes still on the salads) New Potatoes....from the garden......Lemon Cheesecake for afters.......

will try to get back to being a daily girl instead of a now and again girl......but don't hold me to that statement.....did say I would try

Carol
