SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, July 7th
Good Cooler Morning!
We're still going to be warm today, but for now, it's overcast and cooler.. Aaaahhhhh..... We are smelling smoke from the fires in B.C. Makes one nervous when you wake up at night and smell smoke!
We slept in our trailer last night just to check out our new mattress. It slept fine, but the new sheets - a "sateen" finished - are so slippery! The blankets are nearly off the bed! The fur pets seemed a little confused, but they found us, slept with us, and demanded their breakfast in the trailer. lol! So they, of course, got it! We are well trained if nothing else.
ABITA - I thought we saw in the news, about 4 weeks ago, that Blue Belle was up and running again. Might want to check your store's freezer case again.
VEL - we like turkey burgers, too, but they are so big we have to split one.
IRISH - You might have to put on some shorts and heels to get that Schwann's man to stop at your house! Ice cream would go great with that apple tartlet . . . . just sayin' .. . . .
JANA - I hope you used lots of Tillamook cheddar in the Mac & Cheese, last night!!
I made some Rice Pilaf last night - OK, it was Rice-a-Roni, but who's going to tell? Besides me, I mean? - so tonite, I think I'll brown some burger and onions to add to it along with some veggie for a one-pot meal. We're very low on fresh anything right now and I don't want to buy more because anything that's left, we might not be able to get over the Canadian border on Saturday. So we are eating mainly from the freezer this week. We'll buy fruit and veggies in Canada later.
How creative are you getting with your summer meals? I'm running out of ideas here.

Good morning!
Mary - I use the rice a roni pilaf all the time - easy to doctor - good base for a jumping off point to experiment with new dishes. Glad the mattress worked out. We had problems bringing fresh produce - snacks home from Utah, across the California border.
Dinner last turned out not to be the PNW treat I thought of. Tonight will be a stir fry of lemony chicken with asparagus.
Today is my youngest's birthday. Aaron, he is 28. We will celebrate on Sunday with all the family.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from a very sunny, warm, gorgeous, SW. Pa....Going into the high 80s today but calling for bad storms later today and tonight...Just what we need, more rain but that's Mother Nature for ya!
WELL, guess who darkened my door yesterday afternoon and I didn't need those shorts and high heels.....Yep, Mr. Schwann, in his shorts, purrfect tan and as nice as ever....I had given him my list and kept saying, I know there's something else and he said, what about the pizza????And that's what I had forgotten....He said, it's been awhile, but I still remember what you guys like....AND, then he found, he didn't have the pizza so he'll be back tomorrow morning....2 times in 1 week, be still my heart!
I just had a long, long call from Kathy...They had been away for the weekend and we had to catch up...They had been to (and I know I'm messing this up), Modock National Park. She said, it's near the Oregon border...They love that area and often go for a weekend....Said they went to a lava bed and also toured some caves...I keep saying, in my next life, I want to be just like her....Oh, and she did tell me, when they get here for my birthday, we are going to the zoo....Now, I know, you are all turning green with envy, right????
Mary, good to give the mattress a try before leaving...Not sure if I could get used to those new sheets but then I'm so used to having flannel and they're like using Velcro...Those fur babies do have you well trained....
Our dinner last night was to be left overs but with new food in the freezer, we had Chicken Kiev and stuffed baked potatoes...And because it was such a good dinner, Jim didn't need his apple thingie....
So, tonight will be the left over roast with all the fixings and those apple thingies...And, you're right Mary, they will be good with a scoop of ice cream......(my hips are in agreement)....
Happy eating...................

MaryZ—“The Kids” will have to be used to their new digs in a few days when they hit the road with you. Those sheets are different. I like your creative meals.
Jana—your dinners always sound delicious. I need to come visit or clone you for my chef! I remember in the 40s and 50s when they inspected cars at the CA borders and confiscated any produce or plants. They didn’t want any insects or diseases coming into the state.
Irish—Mr. Schwann knows what you like and makes special trips for you… hummmmm!!! I enjoy going to the zoo—yes, I’m turning green!
Becca—here we are looking for rain again. We missed everything that went east in the last several days. We got some nice showers last night, and it’s wonderfully cooler today.
Tina—I hope they fix your mom! HUGS to you!!! I know your dad is concerned big time. How is your cough? Did you get an appointment to check it out?
Abita—hope Blue Bell gets back in business. They definitely have good ice cream. Sometimes something like that can totally bankrupt them monetarily as well as customer loyalty and the company never recovers.
I need to get busy here… Oh! Dinner! Well, all the re-runs have run and the fridge is bare. Guess I’ll thaw some chicken. I’m thinking maybe chicken taco salad…We have apple pie for afters… no ice cream… sigh!
