Every Sunday since I was 13yrs. Lawrence Welk show, wait for it Marlyne Florence and his accordion, then I'm off to my room pulling out the accordion, dreaming I'd be the nxt Marilyn Florence.. I'm now 55yrs still waiting the call from Lawrence Welk to invite me on his show.. Of course now he would have to pay my passport, and plane ticket.

Leah, My parents danced to the Lawrence Welk band before they were married back in 1942. He was in South Dakota but came down across the border into northern Nebr for dances. I loved the Lawrence Welk show too only I wanted to be Diana Lennon, the youngest of the Lennon sisters. I don't think Lawrence Welk is even alive but he certainly knew how to entertain folks.

Storm just moved into area so gotta get off computer. Tornado sirens, high winds and 4-6" rain so guess I better go prepared for something, anything headed our way. Will discuss Lawrence Welk later. OK. But thanks for the memory. My Grampa played the accordion too. I tried as a child.

Hugs, Shirley Mae

I have fond memories of Lawrence Welk too, with my grandparents. Once a month my DH and I would go visit my Granny and Grampa Ted. She would make her special meatloaf, and after dinner we would play Canasta until Lawrence Welk came on, then we would watch it together. That show built many memories for us Baby Boomers!

I just learnt something here, Lawrence was originally in South Dakota prior to Nebraska.. Interesting.
