SUPPER CLUB - Mon, June 15th
Good Morning!
We are halfway through June already! In five more sleeps, the days will start getting shorter. Better get ready!
The grad party yesterday was nice, but long and hot. They did have an umbrella and a canopy. I was SOO ready to come home to our cool, quiet deck. These family 'do's' are always just a little strange as the other gramma is my LDH#2's ex-wife. I married the dad (Roy) and my DD married his son. All years ago and much water has passed under that bridge now, but still just a little bit strange to party with my late husband's ex-wife. We had our picture taken together with Alec at graduation and then yesterday we talked and found out we were both thinking the same thing - what would Roy have thought of THAT picture! lol!
Today and tomorrow will be a long list of things to do and errands to run to get ready for our trip to OR. Feed roses, buy bug spray, bake cookies, mend shorts, finish packing, clean frdge, wash clothes, vacuum, hunt up the vet records, etc. I also have to take my Bernie to Tacoma to the spa and drop off my salmon quilt contest entry at the LQS. Scottie goes to the groomer today and everyone goes to the vet tomorrow. I'm the chicken with no head!
Thank goodness no cooking! We're meeting friends at a Mexican restaurant tonite.
IRISH - Hugs from me to you, sweet friend! This year of "firsts" can really hit you hard, especially with a child. But I know your beloved Chris is now your family's special angel and he's watching over you. And he won't ever leave you. (((HUG))) Your flag story was great! Though he wasn't far off - Flag Day is also Childrens' Day. I used to ask my folks why we didn't celebrate like we did for Mothers day and Fathers Day. Their answer was always a grumbly "Every day is Childrens Day!"
CHICKIE - you and your DGD are having so much fun! I want one, too! The blog story on your mom was heartwarming to read. Thank you for sharing it with us!
JANA - congrats to Stu!! Every time that boy turns around, he does something to make you all very proud! We need more Stus in the world! Now down to business - what kind of cookies??
BECCA - what a terrific family you have! We are just 10. At least for now. But if I count my siblings and their offspring, we probably have around 75 or 80 now. There have been lots of babies born in the Alaskan branch in the last 5 years - and I have brand new twin Gr Gr Nephews up there! - Riley and Alex (I think).
TINA - I hope it's just you and Frankie today so you can sew to your heart's content! I've never heard of Watergate Salad until my sister mentioned it to me last week. now you all seem to know about it! I've never had pistachio pudding, so maybe that's where I've gone wrong.
I've been wondering about Lady Carol, too, but I saw her post on FB yesterday - something about fabric. So she's OK. maybe she's dieting. And where's our Joanne?? Maybe she lingered too long at Mama's and got locked in!
So I'm off to tackle that list now! And know I'll enjoy some tasty enchiladas tonite!
What's your plan for the day and for your supper?

Good morning,
Dinner - have no idea - just finished breakfast!
Cookies last night - turtle brownies, lemon cookies - an original recipe by my niece Sandee, peanut butter, killer chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal coconut butterscotch cookies and frosted fleur di lis shaped sugar cookies, done in red, white and blue. Punch was seven up mixed with country time raspberry lemonade. All had lots of fun. My killer chocolate chip cookies are loaded with chocolate chips, white chocolate chunks, and lots of pecans. The guys love them.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good late morning from a very dreary, but warm, SW. Pa...We have had terrible storms, late yesterday and on into the night...Lots of boomers, lightening and water in the basement.....But, we're luckier that most, no real damage just more work cleaning it up....
Mary, My heavens, talk about that headless chicken! Wow, you really do have a full day...I knew you were leaving soon but didn't realize it was this week..I was just thinking, last year at this time I was enjoying Reno and surrounding area...That was an unforgettable trip and I'm hoping I can get Jim out there later this year....
So far today, I've had a nice young fellow (our financial guy) visiting and giving me hugs and then another nice young fellow in shorts, working on the TV in the bedroom...Now all I need is for Mr. Schwann to show up and the day will be complete....lol....Sometimes it's good to be me.....
Yesterday, after the game (Pirates won) and during the storm, I organized my bins of fabric..And in doing so, found half finished projects that need dealt with..Not sure when that might happen but one of these days...................
As for our dinner, with so many things to choose from, I'm not sure....If Mr. Schwann man gets here, it will be chicken kiev with a veggie and some sort of potato...Or we might have some Omaha burgers on the grill with roasted veggies.....It's hard to think when I haven't even had lunch.............
Happy eating..................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Mon, June 15th
I was hoping to get some ideas for supper. No hamburgers and hot dogs for sure. Family reunion Sat and the oldest son and his wife and brat kid were here for the weekend. Yes, he is a brat by the easiest of standards. They leave and I spend the next several days trying to figure out if the lack of discipline is his biggest issue or if there's more. I'm not a drill sergeant but I do expect a 7 year old to do what he's told.
Mary - I'm glad our family isn't the only one mixed up. Weddings can be a challenge to endure at times when ex's are invited and they don't have the decency to decline.
Jana - that punch sounds good and easy. Is that a 50/50 mix? I'm always looking for a good punch recipe that's also easy and doesn't have sherbet in it.
Irish - Go Pirates! Only DH here with me today but I can use the quiet after this weekend. The nice young fellas must all be over your way.
I should get a chance to check back in later this evening. Have a good afternoon ladies.

I will ask my niece, she assembled it - it was the concentrate liquid that we used with ice in it too. She told me she did it to taste last night. 50/50 would be a good starting point.

Mary, wow, lots to do!
Irish, you so cute
)
Jana, I love punches!
Lori, my 7 yr old DGD has huge mood swings, but she wants to live with us and is mostly just fine with us, she hates going home and gets really crabby when they're fixin to leave.
I'm trying to sew and keep an eye out back every now and again to make sure a Blue Heron hasn't landed again and is eating my fish! It's too expensive to replace my Koi!
I'm doing chicken on the grill tonight, guacamole, and salad. I'll probably mow the front yard this evening too

I am late visiting again. I guess I was in too much of a hurry this morning to get off to the laundry. Got a few groceries, too. Don't feel much like cooking today, but think I will fix up a can of corned beef hash, which my DH loves, and some eggs and English Muffins.
I am not very crazy about hash, but sometimes, you just have to cook to please others.
I got some old quilting magazines today for 10 cents each. I am anxious to browse through them and look at ideas.
Have a great evening.
