SUPPER CLUB - Sat - Mothers Day Eve

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat May 09, 2015 3:17 am

Good Morning! Happy Mothers Day Eve! My DD#2 mailed me a package from Texas and told me I could open it on Mothers Day Eve. So later today, I'll be ripping that tape. DD#1 sent flowers yesterday and a handmade card. Next weekend I'll be with my son and we'll be celebrating M.D. and his 40th birthday. 40!! It's a shocker! He was just 2!!

GEN. LADY CAROL - what good are rules if no one obeys them!! You be careful with those menus or you may be in for a demotion . . . But making sweaters for your Willow would boost you back up there again.

JOANNE - You got the neighbor to pull your weeds? Way to whitewash that fence!! Maybe you can get her to go visit Irish, too. Or ME!!

IRISH - I've given up on tomatoes. Every year I buy 3 or 4 plants and every year they mold or shrivel and die. No tomatoes. And I LOVE tomatoes! Enjoy yours or me!

BECCA - Mother Nature really puts on a show for you! Yesterday we saw two bald eagles overhead, chasing each other and playing.

JANA - good luck with your talk! What is the subject?

Yesterday I ended up goofing off for the most part. It's good to have a day like that sometimes. I probably needed it as I fell asleep at 8pm and slept until 5:30 this morning! Today, some yard work, but not a marathon. It's supposed to be 80* and I think a good part of the afternoon will be spent in the porch swing with a book and a cold drink!

But for supper - Polenta parmesan with a salad on the side and maybe some green beans. Unless DH manhandles my menu again.

Hope something tasty shows up in front of you tonite!

Good morning,

Maryz - I am not patient in waiting to open a package - that tape would have been ripped off at 12:01 a.m. this morning! LOL

The subject of my talk is Motherhood - how it goes through the generations - and that even when our kids are grown, we are still parents - once a parent always a parent. There are many examples in the scriptures that I used. I also put in a disclaimer that I am not the perfect mom. Even that my kids aren't perfect either. Now it is done - I can relax

Oh yes, dinner - chicken something!

Enjoy,
Jana

LOL Mary! My neighbor was only good for 5 weeds..and those were the big obvious ones! But it was nice of her to do it!

Tonight might be burgers and veggies on the grill if Earl gets the gas..if not then the chili that I thawed out from the freezer. Tomorrow we will go to Mama's for MD...my choice. I don't feel like going anywhere that I have to stand in line.

We don't have much luck with tomatoes either, Mary. Earl started about 10 plants from seed in November in the little greenhouse and they are already producing small green tomatoes! We'll see what happens...I'm not touching them so maybe they will live..lol!

HOT and sticky today....cooling off next week, thank goodness...

Everyone have a great Mother's Day!

Joanne EDIT: I knew I should wait to talk to Earl! We're going to the Feed Mill Restaurant for dinner...!

Good morning all,

Happy Mother's Day to all of you.MY DS is in KA visiting his DS that in service so he will not be visiting.
DD always comes a wk late.

Today my DS turns 56 .Wow hard to believe.

Jana Your subject is perfect and we may strive for perfection but we cannot get there.Just getting them raised is a feat.

JOanne Send the neighbor to my house.I can give her work.lol

I hit the jackpot this morn.Found 2 pair of shoes & I am hard to fit & find what I like. And they were on sale.
Mary' z There is always nature abounding here. This morn I saw the bunny first then the 2 brown thrush were feeding the babies. I hit the window accidentally & the bird flew out of bush with a worm in its mouth. And the squirrels and chipmunk was chasing again..I love watching them.
It is going to be a kick back day for me too.
We are going to have an easy find what you want kind of day.Not cooking.
Have a great one. Becca to

Good afternoon from hot, sunny, wonderful, SW. Pa....Just a few days ago, everyone was complaining about still running the furnace, but now, the AC covers are coming off, lol....We haven't even checked, I guess the AC is still outside...We really don't use it much until the end of summer......I like to have the windows open and run the ceiling fans if we need cooled off.....

Oh Mary, how can you wait to open that package??? I'd be like Jana...Patience, I want it now! The idea of sitting on the swing, cold drink and book in hand sounds like a purrrrfect way to spend the afternoon...Don't get much better than that, except maybe a nap in there somewhere.....
Mary, you actually saw some eagles? Wow, that must have been a sight....The nest in Ft. Myers is now empty...The eaglet has flown to join up with juvies and hopefully, not get into too much trouble...Young eagles will usually stay together and learn from each other until they mature at about 4-5...That's when they get their white head, take a life time mate and build a nest...And if healthy, could live a very long life producing and hatching eggs for years....So interesting, my world of eagles, lol.....In watching the eagles take care of their young, it's a shame more human parents don't follow suit......

Darn, Joanne, I was all ready to put that neighbor to work....But, I have more than 5 weeds to pull...

Jim has the garden ready for the tomatoes but I'm just a bit leery about sticking them in the ground...Normally, we don't plant until closer to Memorial Day and then there have been years, we've had to cover the plants...This year, Mother Nature is playing games with all of us.....

Well, my break is just about over...More laundry on the line, scrubbed the garage, did all my inside uglies and just need to clean up the dishes that have accumulated in the sink.....

As far as dinner, that might be "dial a pizza"...I have Pizza Hut on speed dial and we've gotten to be on 1st name basis..........

Happy eating..............

Oh My, How could I forge to wish you all a Very Happy Mother's Day.....Hope it's the "bestest"......

Do I HAVE to make supper tonight??? I am going to be in the middle of prepping for my brunch here tomorrow for at least 23 people. I tell the girls not to bring anything because it's my gift to them. I'm making the cinnamon rolls tonight, cooking the bacon and sausages, making the gravy roux, mixing the biscuits (up to adding the milk--tomorrow), breaking the eggs, and setting up the buffet. Tomorrow I'll re-heat the sausage and bacon, scramble the eggs, make the biscuits and bake them, make the hash browns, and make the fruit salad, orange juice and coffee... Hope that's all... I have a notebook that tells me everything to do...

I may give DH a BLT using some of my bacon. He will be lucky to get that!!!

HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY to each of you, My Friends!!! I'll be LATE to the table tomorrow, for sure!!!
