SUPER CLUB - Thurs, April 16th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Apr 16, 2015 3:33 am

Good Morning!

We're going into the 60's with sunshine today and by Sunday, 73*! Can't get more better for April!

Our house is all company clean except for the last few finishing touches. The irony is, of all our friends, this couple is probably the least likely to bother looking at the house, but is truly more interested in US and our dog! But who can have overnight company and not at least swipe down last year's cobwebs before they arrive!?

I can't wait to try all y'all's cabbage/ham/potatoes recipe! I really think DH is going to like it. Is this a New England Boiled Dinner? (and if not, then what is that??) Though, CHICKIE - that ham and bean supper you had sounded pretty tasty, too.

IRISH - SeaTac Airport is south of Seattle so it's a little closer to us than Seattle proper. A 45-min drive. Want me to come pick you up??

JO - I think I'd add some onions, too, and maybe a touch of garlic, too, to the C/P/H. Green beans would be pretty. Limas would be better!! Sorry you have to go to a 'layout'. So sad to lose a sibling. Is a layout the same thing as a 'viewing'?

BECCA - thanks! The Cipro is working great! I think it's what, in the biz, we called a "big gun abx". I can still feel I have something going on but I'm SOO much better! My friend, who has diabetes, also felt a kidney infx coming on a couple of weeks ago but she was traveling and tried 2 Urgent Cares and a pharmacy to get somthing and coudn't get in, so she just kept on driving until they got home 4 days later. She was REALLY sick by then. Kidney infx's are so bad for diabetics. I'm glad I got in early!

JANA - the news said you were getting more snow yesterday than in Jan/Feb/Mar combined! I bet it won't last long though. I wonder what's going on, weatherwise, on the Piaute Trail. We were coming to UT in June to ride the trail but our DGS's graduation, 18th birthday and subsequent party put the kibosh on that plan. Would have loved to swing by your place to check out your remodeled kitchen! And sewing space!

VELDA - have a great little 'vacation' at your son's house. Most people, when they go on vacation, take their RV. You leave yours! lol!

Tonite we will have a crowd in honor of Bob & Betsy being in town. Supper will be BBQ'd burgers on the grill, and I'm making a pot of baked beans. Others are bringing appetizers, salads, and dessert. Oh, and there just might be a little bit of wine flowing, too. Just a little bit . . . . .

What's flowing at your house tonite?

Good morning!

Mary - rats! Would love to have you and Bill again - I would love to show off the kitchen and we could play Killer Bunnies with you and the kids - it is a hoot! Maybe later, after the BD's you will get to ride the trails. We got about a foot of snow up here - the valley floor snow has already melted off. Snowed here for about 30 hours straight.

Dinner here will be late, I am heading up a service project making hygene kits for girls in African nations at Relief Society - church - so it may be just fend for yourself. We won't starve.

Sarah has hit a hiccup with the mortgage for the new house - 5 points under what they will lend on - she was ready to throw in the towel - lots of tears - but the owner of the mortgage company is starting to pull strings and we have 8 months - so it will be a nail biting time.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from a very soggy, dreary, Sw. Pa...The sun that we had this morning didn't last very long and now we're getting some of that rain that is visiting the east coast.....

Mary, What a good feeling to have the house nice and clean, even if no one else checks it out...I believe, Jana has a saying, If you're coming to see the house, make an appointment, if coming to see me, welcome any time....I did have a chuckle about you being short and not noticing the things up high....I've been going through that for years and any more, I don't care what's way up there....And as far as spider webs, being Irish, I thought you knew they are called Irish curtains.....
AND, if and when I get the chance, yes, I do want you to pick me up at the airport....

This is Jim's day with the "bingo gals" and I took advantage and did some running...Tonight is the 1st of the card parties and I'll be out and about, so, no cooking for me.....
But, I'm sure we can scrounge up something for Jim, even if it's grilled cheese and soup...And I did break down and baked 3 loaves of banana/nut bread, so he'll be a happy camper......

Happy eating.............

Good Evening All.....had a nice day.....but.....it is now raining with a vengeance.........its absolutely piddling down......but thank goodness its rain and not Janas snow.....had a mild winter really.....don't want to start that white stuff here now......

Well....I must say.....if I have what "they" call faster Broadband.....I am not impressed.......my screen still keeps freezing......and even appears to be slower than before......I can feel a "dust up" with BT coming on.......

Today was my afternoon club.....we had a lovely lady speaker......has had a rather interesting life......an accomplished horse rider.....worked for Christian Dior in Paris....flew Helicopters.....married an airline captain......and now lives in a large country house with a magnificent garden.....she does these talks to spend her fees on the garden......and seeing her slideshow....that garden is worth every word she speaks.....

now I must tell you.....those Tissue Holders I have become addicted to making......I put one in todays Raffle......and promptly sold 11.....took me quite by surprise.......

todays menu......Egg Chips and Tomatoes.....Rice Pudding for afters...
