SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, April 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Apr 02, 2015 4:07 am

Good Morning! They have been predicting a lot of 'weather' this week, but other than a bit of wind and rain in the middle of Monday night, we've only had a few showers during the day. I count on my rainy days for guilt free sewing! I need my rain!

It's been a quiet week here with not too much going on. Ugh-lies, sewing, and eating is about it.

IRISH - I'm trying the waiting game with my kids, too, in regards to Easter. So far, not a peep from either of them. I'm thinking DH and I will have our usual Sunday morning breakfast with my DB and SIL and call it a day.

JOANNE - are the 200 eggs for your family or for a group? I wouldn't mind getting in on some of that action!

CHICKIE - you could make those mashed potatoes blue, top the meatloaf with red BBQ sauce, and serve it on a white platter for Memorial Day and JULY 4th, too!

JANA - What a big job at your house! Is your BIG pantry downstairs? If so, I hope you have a ''runner for when you rotate your stock! lol! Our big pantry is a cabinet in the sewing room, down the hall from the kitchen.

TINA - haha! SMOTHERED makes more sense than smoothed. But maybe we invented a new recipe . .

BECCA - I love challenges, and I guess inviting someone to stay for supper with no supper plan is a real challenge! When all else fails, I always have spaghetti with a jar of sauce in my pantry.

Last night, I studied my little stack of leftovers with DH standing beside me, eyeing his choices. He knew what I was thinking and merely said, "Go for it"! So I tossed it all together with a can of Cr. of Mushroom soup and some seasonings. I topped it all with buttered bread crumbs. Then I saw him down to the crumbs in the bag of pretzels he was eating, so I tossed them on, too! It was actually very good! We were both surprised! So there's enough left of that for tonite. I'll make a salad and add a dollop of cottage cheese. We are SUCH gourmets here! lol!

What's going on your plate tonite?

Good morning from sunny, but chilly but getting warmer, SW. Pa...It's days like this that I actually like to crawl out of bed....Of course so far, I haven't done anything but read the paper and give "BabyGirl" her daily brushing and cuddles and then "follow me to the cupboard Mom, I need more treats........" No way is she spoiled!

Mary, I thought I came up with "gourmet" meals but you have me beat....There have been times I've felt sorry for Jim because he really had no idea what he was eating but he doesn't complain...
And I'm thinking, I'm just going to tell everyone to come here...Haven't had them all here since Christmas but who cares if I have to clean, it will be fun....I think!

Joanne, My brain would be reeling if I needed to fill that many eggs...We just do little baskets for the 3 great grandsons....

Well, being bingo day, I think I'm going to run some errands (maybe)...We finished the 1st painting job and I need to get everything put back and then dig out the fabric for the curtains....Maybe I should just stay home.........

For dinner, I haven't a clue....Hopefully something will fall out of the freezer...But, I will break down and bake...Jim has been kind of hinting for apple pie so guess I'd better get er done...Gotta keep him happy......

Happy eating..............

Irish--I'm having Easter breakfast/brunch here on Sunday after mass. It should be a full house. Unfortunately, a cold front is on its way, so we may not be out on the porch.

MaryZ--Yikes! BLUE potatoes??? Well, maaaaybe... However, I think I'd leave them white and serve them on one of my blue plates instead. But, where's the fun in that? My mom always hated blue food and blue cake frosting. I have colored food for St. Pat's Day.

Becca--dinner sounds delicious!

Last night wasn't whatever I said it would be, so tonight will be lasagna.

Enjoy!

Yikes, Mary! BLUE potatoes! And GREEN potatoes! Yucky...

Yep, the 200 eggs are for the family hunt...Earl and Ryan filled them all! He puts in 20 pieces of wood with a number..and that number is for money..don't ever put money in the egg...squirrels LOVE those eggs and they can eat right through the plastic!!

Tonight is leftover pork loin...and baked potato..maybe a salad and a veggie, too.

Good Evening All......a grey day today.....but at least the wind is now calmer......it moved our garden bench about 3 feet and ruined the umberella.....but we were going to get a new tilting one this "summer" anyway.....

Do you remember.....we were put on a different power supply back in September because we were the end of the line and got lots of power cuts.....well.....we have had 4 cuts this week.....but at least we have had lots of other homes out to keep us company.....we don't feel like Billy No Mates anymore......

It was our "Thursday Afternoon Club" today.....we did a Ploughmans lunch......but there was only 10 of us today and loads of food over....there must be quite a lot of illness about still.....but our coach driver probably thought it was his birthday.......we always save some "eats" for him.....he went off with a carrier bag full......

So todays menu was for one.....Egg Chips and Grilled Tomatoes.....and Rasberry Cheesecake for afters.......
