SUPPER CLUB - Wed, March 25th
Happy Today!
How is your spring shaping up so far? While we are having a lot of rain, it's still soft, gentle rain with temps in mid 50's, much better than our usual lion-like March weather. So no complaints here. But I would like to get out in the yard some day!
TINA - those tostadas sound dee-lish! I can see sliced black olives, too . . . Glad you like my dancing salmon. I know some folks think I'm crazy. But really, it was CHICKIE'S idea!!!
JANA - let's see: prom dress, blessing dress, activity day, meeting, kitchen project. No wonder you're eating out!
CHICKIE - I am but your obedient servant! lol! Gizzards! Once, when Autumn was about 8, she spent the night at her BFF's house (the mom is also my BFF) and they served gizzards. But Mom put an attractive spin on it. When Autie got home, I asked her what she's had for supper and with her gap-toothed grin, she happily reported, "Chicken parts!"
BECCA - you are so right! I had to close my eyes to sew a fish! lol! But it made it better that she was a dancing fish and not an eating fish! lol!
IRISH - way to make lemonade out of Jim having to go to the doc! I wish we could gather up all the stories those "young" fellas have to tell about the old days and put them in a Big Book of Old Stories.
LADY CAROL - you were a very good girl and your reward was the delivery of your FQ's. But pass up the quilt shop? I don't think so! And yes, most of the 'veils' swathing my salmon were tulle studded with various shimmery embellishments. A couple were nylony fabrics. The funny thing, and Chickie didn't know this when she offered her clever suggestion, is that back in my dancing days, I actually performed a Dance of the Seven Veils!
JOANNE - yay for your quilts! Happy to think of you covered in thread!
Today, a few more UGH-lies. Yesterday - upstairs. Today - downstairs. Fortunately for me, I'm not too picky a housekeeper! This leaves me more sewing time. lol!
Homemade pizza is on the menu for tonite. I promised my Beloved. He even went out yesterday and bought a jar of pizza sauce! pepperoni, black olives, American bacon, mushrooms, green onions, a few grinds of black pepper, mozzarella, and parmesan. I'm already salivating!
What's waking up your salivary glands for tonite?

Good morning from wet, wet, wet, SW. Pa....Yep, it's damp in my little part of the country.....But, it's not too cold, going up in the 50s today with a hint of sun later, but sadly, back to winter for the weekend.....
Mary, I like you, wish those "youngsters" would write down or record all their stories....The fellow yesterday was 94, just had lost his wife after being married 70 years but together forever he said..Another fellow was telling us about the "ice man" coming to his house...What a day, plus they had the best donuts....By the way, Jim had a semi restful night (after I made him take his pain pills)...For sure, he's "recliner bound" today....
Mary, Dance of the Seven Veils?????.A side of you we didn't know....I did like your dancing salmon..And funny about those "chicken parts"...
Chickie, have you ever seen anything so darn cute as a brand new eaglet? And that's just 1 egg from that nest, so far...Here in Pgh. we're still on hatching watch...So exciting.....The eaglet in Florida is acting like a big boy/girl...Started taking little flying trips and spent all night perched on an upper limb beside his mother...They are still looking for Ozzie, the male to come back...So sad but it will work out, I'm sure.....
Carol, My heavens, what will power....Even if I don't plan on buying, I just have to stop in and "feel the fabric"....
So far today, I've not accomplished too much...Managed to do both cross word puzzles in the paper so that's my omen for a good day....Might have to play in the sewing room since I can't be outside mowing grass or spading the garden (that would be the day).....
For dinner, I'm thinking something with chicken and treat Jim to mashed potatoes and gravy...Not going to bake, don't want to spoil him too much......
Happy eating..............

What a beautiful day! Almost 70 already and the sun is shining!!
But, like Irish, this weekend is back to cold...maybe flurries on Friday..go figure!
I guess I will bake the chicken that is marinating in Teriaki..and fix some vegetable fried rice from Market Day...
I tested the sashing fabric (red) and it bled, so threw it in the washer..ugh. All the blocks are squared up and ironed, so they are ready to go..cutting is not my favorite job! What I really hate to do is sandwich!
Off to get the load out of the dryer!
Joanne

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, March 25th
I totally forgot about supper today… DH came in earlier and had a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches, so dinner might be pretty light… popcorn or something. Depends on if he is still hungry.
Mary—so funny about the chicken parts! Remember there was a commercial… “parts is parts”. Can’t remember now what it was about… just remember the line.
Irish—the eaglet is really cute! Did I tell you that one of DH’s friends saw an eagle nest next door to here on the lake? He was using a spotting scope. Actually, it was on the other side of the lake from us. Hope Ozzie makes it back… The “ice man” used to come to our house in San Francisco. So did the milk man. We had a stove that used kindling wood on one side but had gas for the oven and some of the top burners—dual fuel in the 40s! Mom got her first refrigerator not ice box in 1950 or maybe a little later… 1952 or 1953.
Becca—I never wanted any “parts” other than the wishbone! Now I eat livers and DH eats gizzards. “Givers and lizards” when I bring home an order. The other evening I brought a mixed piece dinner of “regular” parts for me and gizzards for DH. Gizzards are like calamari—too rubbery for my taste!
Thanks, Mary for blaming me with the Salmone’… we all know I’m somewhat warped, so I’ll take the credit or blame…
We are about to have a thunderstorm, so I’m unplugging…
