SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, March 15th
Good Morning,
My sister comes to visit today. They do say, "Beware the Ides of March!" . . . .
IRISH - so sorry to hear about the loss of your little eaglet. And I have to ask - what is hulushki? I'm sure you told us about a year ago. It sounds familiar. It's not one of those special Pennsylvania Dutch things like scrapple, is it?
JOANNE - how special to get to go to one of your favorite restaurants. Like you, we usually eat at places close to home, but sometimes, a special place or event is worth the drive.
I'm still under the weather but it's looking like I might live. My sis comes this morning for 3 days. Her kids are dropping her at Joann's and we'll pick her up, along with a bolt of fusible. One of my Alaskan nepheews is in town suddenly, too, so there's a campfire this afternoon at my brother's. Not sure I'll go, but Bill and my sis will.
As for supper - I think tomato basil soup and grilled cheese sandwiches will do just fine. I could go all crazy and make celery sticks to go with, too!
What are you crazy for tonite?

MaryZ—Oh, the Ides of March… I’m going to ignore it and enjoy the arrival of my DGD this evening. I hope you feel up to the campfire this evening. If not, your soup and sandwich sound just delicious.
Joanne—dinner out is always fun!
Irish—that was just the saddest thing with the baby eagle! I had no idea they were so emotional. I know that some birds mate for life like Canada Geese and Guineas and they will mourn a mate and stand by a deceased one until they starve themselves. Last week, one of DH’s coffee friends took his spotting scope over to the lookout at the lake next to us and spotted an eagle nest with the sitting eagle. We have just had them come in our area within the last five years. It’s really awesome to see them!
I think dinner tonight will be ravioli with Alfredo, ravioli with marinara, and some fried ravioli. No, I didn’t make them myself… they jumped into my cart at the grocery store. I have salad makings too.
By the time dinner time arrives, I’m crazy for about anything that doesn’t devour me first… and especially if it doesn’t take a lot of prep time. The outdoors is calling… 70+ degrees!!! Spring has sprung… at least for awhile.
Enjoy!

Good afternoon from over cast, cold, Sw. Pa...Boy, was it cold this morning...We went to early Mass, then breakfast and then onto Aldi's and walking through the parking lot, I thought I was going to freeze and/or blow away...Spring????
Oh Mary, so glad to hear there is light at the end of your "puny" tunnel....I was really thinking, I'd have to don my whites and pay you a visit..Now sure what I'd do but I'd figure out something....But, just because you're feeling better, don't over due...Remember talking about canned soups the other day? Well, I have found Aldi has a chicken and rice or stars, that is really, really good...Much better and easier than making my own...
And, hulushki, very hard to make, lol....All it is, is cabbage fried in lots and lots of butter until soft and then add cooked noodles, salt and pepper....Mix it up and you're good to go...Some put onion and I imagine there are others variations but I keep mine simple...Oh So Good! Not too good for the arteries...........
Becca, well I know where I'm going for dinner...Strawberries AND red velvet cake????? You really are spoiling that hubby, aren't you?
Chickie, how can it be 70 in your area when we're cold???The only thing that will help is for you to send us some of that warmth...Oh my, how lucky, if you have an eagle nest close by...They really are coming back after DDT was banned....And eagle pairs do mate for life and can live a long, long life...I laugh at the ones in Florida...The nest is in a tall pine tree on a horse ranch, not too far from the river for food source, nice big pond on the property for bathing and the weather is great...It's a wonder they can get the eaglets to leave home when they're grown......
Well, dinner will be slim at this house...We had an extra big breakfast..Mine came with potato pancakes which I brought home, so that's 1 thing on the menu...Other than that, it might be soup, it might be burgers, heck it might be a bag of popcorn.....
Happy eating............
Did You Know.....The way to tell a true Irish man, is his ability to tell someone to go to the devil(didn't want to use h+++)...And that person actually looking forward to the trip......

Good afternoon,
Home from church - it is such a long way - about a block from the house! Lol
Dinner - chicken - it is what is thawed and needing to be cooked - a salad will appear as well - Sarah went to Costco and shared lettuce and tomatoes with us.
Mary - get better!
Becca - oh the yummies!
Chickie - love raviolis! Any way - yummie!
Irish - DH's old boss and friend could do that - the gift of blarney!
Enjoy!
Jana

before I forget....Chickie, Earl just bought a scope that sits on a tripod on the ground, which looks like the thing they use for surveying, he bought it to see the targets they use when they shoot their guns. Is that the same as a "spotting scope"???
Mary, sounds like you are on the mend...stay rested!
Becca, that red velvet cake sounds yummy.
Irish, today here is 50's with SUN! Tomorrow is maybe 70!!! Hope it comes your way!
Dinner...hummmmm. We went to Mama's after church today, so we won't be hungry for a little bit. Either pizza delivery or the sweet potato casserole and leftover parm chicken.
Joanne
