SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Feb 28th
Good Morning!
Looks like today will be, for us, another day just like the last few - which is great with me! Sewing and trailer remodel. I did finally slip in four loads of laundry yesterday though.
CHICKIE - how's the storm front coming along? Glad you went to town yesterday.
IRISH - I love your sister's attitude towards life! It does go on - though there are days now and then when you wonder if that's such a blessing . . . But it really is.
JANA - Well, the good news is that your contractor is a man who puts family before job and is willing to care for his children when his wife is sick. The bad news is that she's sick while he's on your job!! But a phone call would have really gone a long way towards soothing the situation for you. And would have been common courtesy.
LUCIE - so sorry to hear about your MIL's dx. Will remember her and your FIL in a prayer.
LYN - hope your DH dodged his cold. (for your sake, if nothing else! lol!)
BECCA - I usualy don't feed the birds much because for one - food is plentiful here and I don't want them to get dependent on us because we travel so much. Two - the squirrels (big fat gray ones) get into the feeders and dump all the food out!
Now on to supper plans. Maybe that meatloaf I mentioned the other day. It's all made and in the freezer. Baked potatoes, veggie, and a salad will make a great supper.
Let's all have great suppers!

Good morning! SNOW!!! It’s very fine, and we aren’t expecting much. Still, it’s beautiful! I’ve been out and fed the birds and am looking forward to a day inside watching birds and doing a little sewing as I watch the Saturday quilting shows that I tape. I know I can drive in snow, but it’s much more fun to sit inside and sip hot beverages and not worry about the other drivers.
Last evening we took Mom some gingerbread (still warm), then ate Chinese before we went for groceries. DH and the dogs waited in the car and gave me curb service. That was sweet! I know everyone in the county and maybe two counties was doing the same thing as I was—took me longer to stand in line to check out than it did to shop.
Lucie-- This is the gingerbread from a church cookbook that Judi (grammiequilts) sent me a few years ago. It’s not too sweet—whipped cream would have been ice with it or Mary’s lemon sauce. I enjoyed it immensely:
Grease and flour 9” square pan; heat oven to 325 degrees F.
2 C flour
1 C molasses
¾ C buttermilk
½ C sugar
½ C butter
1 egg
1 tsp soda
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
Place all ingredients in a large bowl and beat at low speed until blended. Increase to medium and mix 3 minutes. Pour into pan and bake one hour.
The baking time was correct. ENJOY!!!
Our table will hold “pond fruit” or tamale pie along with a salad and a veggie… possibly some gingerbread, but there probably won’t be any left by dinnertime.
Enjoy!

Chickie - the gingerbread sounds really yummy. Probably a good thing that I don't have molasses on board or I would try it.
DH is sick. Should I have sympathy when the man sits out at happy hour without a coat on? And the rest of us are in jackets or heavier coats. Oh, well, too late now. He slept all afternoon yesterday. Don't know how he slept last night, he isn't up yet. Minnie and I slept on the sofa. I have the Lysol spray out and making good use of it. I'm taking Airborne and other stuff, so hope it's confined to only one of us.
Chicken and dumplings will be dinner again today.
We bought a Vitamix recently. I was just looking at recipe book and found 'Dutch Apple Baby' pancake with apples. I have everything, might try it for brunch.
Prayers for those in need. Stay warm.

Good early afternoon from sunny, Sw. Pa...It's sunny and that's all I'm saying.....
Mary, meat loaf and baked potatoes is a favorite of mine and then meat loaf sandwiches the next day is my 2nd favorite...(Of course, they have to be topped with my home made relish)...Mary, you would love my DS, well sometimes, she's a PITA but basically, she's a super gal...She was going to get a new car but with hubby laid up, she told him, if weather got too bad, she'd just start driving his truck...It's only a few months old, 4 wheel drive with all the bells and whistles...She said the look he gave her was priceless and was glad the news didn't give him a stroke....
Chickie, you recipe is similar to mine and for sure, I will be baking today....We don't feed the birds just because at one time, we did have 3 feral cats and didn't want them to think they had a buffet...But, we try to feed the deer and right now, our snow covered yard is full of deer tracks....
Lyn, take care of yourself...Sure hope DH doesn't share...And I'm not sure if I'd be giving him any sympathy either....But, you know men!
It's already afternoon and I'm really just getting started...Do have laundry going but most of the morning, I've had to sit in front of the computer, wataching the Robotic competitions from Mrytle Beach...Youngest DS is a mentor for DGS's team in N.C, and they were in the competition but didn't make the finalist...But, it was exciting and now I can get something done....
Tonight's dinner might be hot ham and cheese sandwiches and soup...AND that gingerbread that I'm determined to make.....
Happy eating..............

Good afternoon -
I have no idea what will show up on the table tonight - soup and a sandwich sounds good with our weather. It is snowing across the valley and moving towards us.
Matt and Michael are figuring out the electrical for my island. By code we must have electrical outlets in the island and they are working hard to make it not show, totally hidden. 2 engineers - I am staying waaaay clear! LOL
Tomorrow, Matt and family are bringing dinner out here - corned beef and trimmings.
Enjoy!

Lyn--can you post the Dutch Apple Baby pancake recipe? I have been wanting to make one and couldn't find a recipe in any of my cookbooks. Guess I could look online. DH came home from coffee and requested waffles for brunch, so... pecan waffles. They were sure good! He is certainly spoiled. Hang on to your Lysol. I wouldn't have too much sympathy, but that's a total man... "I'm not cold." Ha! Just can't give in and not be macho man.
Irish--know what you mean about the cats having bird buffet. All my pretty birds got run off by a flock of starlings with a few blackbirds. They need to eat, too, but they are ugly, greedy, bully birds and the small birds don't have a chance.
It's still snowing and prettier by the minute! I think we have close to two inches now.

Hi again.
Miriam - I'm going to make this easy for me, since one hand is holding a sleeping Minnie. Here's the recipe from Vitamix. Obviously you don't have to use a blender, but they have to give ya a reason to use it. Lol

Lyn--thank you! OMG! That looks divine!!! I could eat the whole thing I'm sure. I had one without the apples but fresh fruit at a bed and breakfast years ago. Wasn't sure what it was called. Thanks!!!
