SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Feb 17th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Feb 17, 2015 3:57 am

Good Morning!

Well, my day went down an unexpected path yesterday. I suddenly remembered I wanted to make my SIL a sour cream raisin pie for her birthday. It's her favorite and she never makes it because no one else in our part of the world really cares much for raisin pie. Since she's the pie-baking queen, and I really struggle with mine, I'm not sure that it was such a wonderful gift, but I did add a $25 gift card to Joann's to sweeten the pot. Then we ended up going out to lunch with that SIL and my DB and were gone for almost 3 hours, catching up. We left here Nov 2 for the Texas. They left mid-Dec. for Las Vegas (Their DD lives there) We did connect for a few days of camping in mid-January, but they finally just got home 2 days ago. Lots to yak about!

JANA - sounds like you have cooking without a kitchen all worked out! One thing I don't have is an electric fry pan. Sometimes I wish I did, but it would be one more appliance to store. But if I were in your situation, I might get one!

IRISH - I don't suppose Jim shared where he hid those chocolates, did he??

CHICKIE - how were the tamales?? I have a Mexican friend who would come and teach me if I really wanted to know. She's done it for other folks.

BECCA - hugs and thanks to your DGS! And a finger-waggle for not telling his family of his injuries!! But it would be worriesome for you with him half a world away.

JOANNE - are you hungry?? We miss you! I hope you didn't get snowed out of any restaurants! Better to be snowed into them! lol!

Does anyone have any good ideas of what to do with ricotta cheese? I have quite a bit leftover from making my lasagna.

Our pea soup was good last night. We didn't have crackers so DH put tortilla chips in his. Wasn't bad! Tonite, we'll have reruns of the soup. Tomorrow it will be on to new food.

Bon Appetit`!

Good morning,

Mary - with leftover ricotta cheese, make lemon ricotta cookies - they are yummy and I will type in thecrecipe a little later. Easy peasy to make too. You don't even know the ricotta isthere. It Iis a recipe from Lidia Bastianich's cook book - may even be online. They are Sarah's new fa orite cookie.

Well the cabinets will be here this morning - the contractor just called - granite was put off because of Gracie.

Dinner last night was taco bell - we will see what tonight.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from a very sunny but very cold, SW. Pa...It really does look warm outside, if you're looking out the window...But, right now the temp is hovering around 20 and that's kind of a heat wave....Tonight, it's to be -2 and we don't even want to talk about tomorrow....

Mary, next to the oatmeal/raisin cookies, raisin pie would be my next favorite...My Mom loved raisin pie and so many times, she and I would get in the car and go for pie....Our Kevin isn't a sweet eater but does like raisin pie and for his birthday, I often make him one...And speaking of Kevin, he stopped down yesterday...He decided it was too cold and told his men to take the week off....And that was the 1st he had seen the quilt and just loved it, especially the shamrocks.....

Jana, an electric skillet would come in handy right now...I had one years ago and did use it a lot but then along came the crock pot....Those cookies sound delish!

Becca, I guess in a way, it's good we don't always know when the kids are hurting or get hurt, especially if there's nothing we can do...But, I just feel so darn bad for Kathy....Veggie soup is my all time favorite, I could have it every day.....

As far as our dinner, it might be a scramble...I have a couple of baked potatoes I'd like to cut up and throw them in with eggs and anything else I can find.....Tomorrow, will be new food.....And with Lent starting, might have to resort to some banned food.........

Happy eating.............

Geeze...time flies lately! We had bunches of snow yesterday...about 4-5 inches...and woke up this morning to -7 deg! YUK! No restaurants since Saturday night...and it was steaks at Mama's Grill for Valentines Day..which we don't really celebrate, but I think Earl just wanted an excuse to have steaks! lol!

Tonight was supposed to be Dinner with the Pringles..at Mama's Grill, but it's too cold and snowy for everyone. So we're having burgers on the Foreman grill, mac and cheese and a veggie.

Joanne
