SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Feb 7th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Feb 07, 2015 4:13 am

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring . .. . . Man, we are SOGGY here. And look out because it's moving eastward and I think almost everyone here is east of me.

JO - you can never have too much leftover roast - BBQ'd beef sandwiches, shepherd's pie, hash, pasties. veggie beef soup, hot or cold sandwiches. So many yummy things!

JANA - I want to go to the shower for the food if nothing else! I'm excited for you for your kitchen. It will kind of be like camping out, only no sleeping on the ground! Bet you'll be using your crockpot a lot in the coming weeks.

VELDA - happy hopping! Is potato stroganof like regular only using potatoes instead of noodles? I like chicken stroganof myself.

IRISH - my mom never used recipes either. Though she sure copied a lot of them out of books and magazines! And she boiled ham slices - never fried it. I've never seen anyone else do that before. But oh, she was a good cook! Maybe I should boil my ham . . .

BECCA - so happy that your DGS's house is OK. The worst of the flooding is in Brinnon, a tiny town not far from Hoodsport. Today we're going to be just north of there ourselves.

Today we're going to a wine and chocolate tasting event on the Olympic Peninsula along the Straits of Jaun de Fuca. If it's raining here (and it is), it's pouring there. Add wind and you've got the purrfect day for hopping in and out of the car several times as you go from winery to winery. (NOT!) But oh well. No one's ever accused me of melting when wet! We'll be doing lunch out, too, and who knows what else. Perhaps there's a quilt shop? Our kids are buying the tickets to this event as a way of celebrating my birthday early and our anniversary. So if it's about me - there should be an LQS, don't you think?

As for supper - if we're still hungry by day's end, we have frozen soup in the freezer. We'll build a crackling fire and let it thaw slowly on top of the wood stove while we sip one of the new wines we'll could be buying today.

Hope you stay dry today and have a no fuss, no muss supper tonite!

Good morning,

Hit the floor running today - Sarah enlisted her Dad helps with the ballons - it is so windy that they could float away - watch out Chickie - we may be there in a few minutes!

I am slicing up the pineapples and have the rice krispies already dipped - we flavored the white chocolate with just a touch of raspberry.

Most of the kitchen is packed up - but again the elusive corned beef didn't get cooked - today it will! The only thing I need to go to the Batt Cave for is cleaning up the Gracie fabric explosion.

There was a theme involved with the layette - elephants - so Sarah purchased a digital scrapbooking page that had a darling elephant and we used him on everything - the crib mobile, invitations, quilt - anything he could appear on. Even the diaper cake has a elephant - stuffed - on the top. We created the elephant in a appliqué for what we sewed. The fabrics were several shades of pinks and several shades of grays. We found the perfect pink dot blackout curtains and used up the leftover fabrics together to make a valance for the top of the curtains. So at the shower I will get pics of my DDIL opening everything and share with you.

Enjoy,
Jana

Our dinner will be easy peasy! Earl needs to go the the Mall to Hobby Lobby so it will be dinner out!

Mary, I'd never make it through a wine tasting...the last time I had wine (20 yrs. ago) I was "fuzzy" after 1/4 glass! lol!!

Good afternoon from sunny but still cold, SW. Pa...It's a gorgeous day if you aren't outside too long, lol....

Mary, wine AND chocolate????Doesn't get much better than that...When I was visiting Kathy, we went to Napa and of course the 2 eastern "winos" (my sister and I)had no idea what to expect or what a flight was...Little did we know that we would be tasting wines instead of flying over the vineyard...We had more fun watching the expressions on my sister's face and it got funnier with more wine...We have decided, the wine out there is the real stuff and what we have here is what Jim would call, Soda pop....but, if I practice enough, maybe I'll be able to take that "flight" again.....
Have fun and enjoy every minute.....

Jana, I can imagine how excited you must be...A shower, a new baby AND a new kitchen....It is good to be you....Just remember, pictures, pictures and more pictures....

Becca, glad to hear your DGS weathered the buckets of rain...When I saw that on the news, I thought of all the people out there and said quite a few prayers....Mother Nature can be difficult sometimes...

Well, guess what's going to be on our table tonight...Yep, the last of the lasagna that didn't make it to the freezer....I have extra sauce, salad and will make some garlic bread...Jim will think he's at Olive Garden, almost......

Happy eating..................

Good afternoon! I had a fun time at the birthday party for the quilt shop today. The dogs went with me and patiently waited. I rewarded each of them with a little bite of cookie when I returned. Mary—they had a great crowd. It’s pretty amazing for being in the middle of nowhere. I’m so glad they are doing well.

Jana—your shower sounds cute and yummy! Your rice krispy treats dipped in raspberry chocolate sound divine. I’m sure it will be so much fun. Do you have lots of pictures to post??? I hope so!!! Oh, you may be here, but I’ll be in Nebraska! Our wind is wicked here, too. I know I got good gas mileage coming from the quilt shop.

Becca—leftover stew is always better the second day. When it’s left after that, it can be thinned and made into soup. YUM!

Joanne—it’s not me that’s fuzzy… it’s everything I try to look at that’s fuzzy! Enjoy your dinner out!

Irish—You need a bottle of vino to go with your Italian dinner tonight. Add a candle in a bottle, and you’re transported to Italy… why stop at Olive Gardens?

Mary—the wine and chocolate sound fun, even in the rain! I don’t melt when I get wet. I just swell up like a sponge and add another 10 pounds. You can see I’ve been out in the rain a lot in the last few years.

After my trip today, I need to treat DH special for dinner. It will be stuffed pork chops, fried apples and salad. If I don’t do salad, it will be broccoli for the “green”.

Enjoy!
