SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 21st

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jan 20, 2015 5:12 pm

Hi there!

I have a bit of power now, ala` our Honda generator so I'm posting a bit early. Thanks, Irish, for rounding up our gourmet gang! Your dinner sounded rather delish! I love hearing about your purr-guest. Did you tell us what color he is? He is going to be really spoiled! It took our Foxy exactly one day to get addicted to a spoon of wet food twice a day.

My brother and his wife, Jim & Terry (Terry is actually a member of our forum but generally stays silent.) unexpectedly joined us here in the desert. They'd been staying with their DD in Las Vegas, about 280 miles north. So we'll probably stay here an extra couple of days just to hang with them. We were going to leave tomorrow, but now I guess it's Friday.

However we had a previous date with friends to meet this afternoon for pizza at the local watering hole called Silly Al's. Yum! I had a mini-BLT pizza. I think the word is scrumpdillyicious. My friend had a mini reuben pizza. That's doesn't sound so good. The men split a large traditional pepperoni/sausage/etc. Everyone was happy!

For supper tonite (Wed), I think we'll have baked potatoes (might cook them in the coals of the campfire) with fried onion and sausage. And there might be enough veggies for a salad. If not, we have frozen veggies. I can already smell those onions cooking!

Do you have an idea to share for supper tonite?

Good morning, Mary! I love spoiling furbabies… well, babies of any type… you know how I spoil my Timi cow. I had an apple that I cut in quarters the other day thinking I’d give it to her… she only got a quarter as three other cows were at the gate with her begging for treats. They really miss apple season.

Becca—what are hully beans? I don’t think I’ve ever heard that term.

Irish—enjoy spoiling your guest! Hope you get all your electronics sorted out when your son returns. Will your kitty guest want to go home with him? Grandmas are special!

I’ve got to think of something for dinner… hummmm… I could do brats with fried onions, broccoli and a sweet potato… Guess I’ll head for the freezer. I’m having lunch with Mom and DD today, so I’ll have a huge salad then.

Enjoy!

Good morning from wintery, snowy, cold, SW. Pa....

Mary, sounds like your day is going to be lots of fun...What a nice surprise to have family with you....
Actually, it's Kathy's DS, Dan, who is on the cruise and owner (or previous owner) of "Kitty"...He is a sweetie (the cat) and loves to give kisses...He's big, mostly white with some spots of black and the softest little voice you've ever heard...Just love him although "Baby Girl" is very jealous...I guess along with dropping off pies or goodies for Dan, I'll be taking cans of cat food...

Becca, glad to hear you're having sun...It sure would be nice if you'd share....

Chickie, it is so easy to spoil our furry critters, isn't it? They give so much love in return.....So the other cows discovered Timi's secret....I can just picture you standing at the fence with a line up waiting for their goodies.....

Well, our last night dinner (stuffed chicken breast etc.) did turn out pretty good so we'll try it again tonight...That is if Jim's doesn't get into it for lunch....Gotta watch him all the time, lol....He just asked if there was any more zucchini bread...In less than 2 days, he ate both loaves...Shame he has to settle for graham crackers......

Happy eating and safe travels, Mary.......

CHICKIE Hulley beans are green beans with shelled beans mixed with them.Green beans that had to be shelled.Hope that makes it clear.
I can picture you at the fence with all the cows begging for treats.

IRISH I used to keep my DSs lab.I spoiled him so much when DS come to pick him up he would hide behind me.DS finally give him to me as he got no attention at Home. They were gone most of time. She had a good life until her hip gave out.I still miss him.

Have a great day...Becca

Becca--i imagined something like that. I always put the beans that had to be shelled in with the others. Never thought about a name for them.

Tina--I love my cows! They make me happy just to sit and watch them. Of course, I love it when they come for treats and pets. Next time you have an apple that gets too soft for you to want to eat it... you will have a special friend!

Irish--it's so funny when Timi sees me or hears me and she comes running... A BIG red cow running!!! Then the others see her and join in the stampede--black, yellow and white cows running. I'm always cracked up watching them.

We had a nice lunch with Mom today. I still have some salad left to go with my dinner this evening. Those chopped salads at Subway are big! I like them with "everything". Mom really enjoyed her sandwich. I always get a 12" one "deconstructed" so she can add ingredients and save part of her bread to toast later and have with soup or the rest of her sandwich makings.

On tonight's menu will be chicken breast with a mustard sauce. I found this really wonderful mustard at a Christmas Boutique a couple months ago. It has some citrus mixed with a whole grain mustard. It makes a really wonderful sauce.
