SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Jan 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jan 02, 2015 12:59 am

Good Morning!

37* and rainy again this morning. I know most of you are colder than that, but you're SUPPOSED to be cold! I'm supposed to be wearing shorts and shades and sipping maragritas!

TINA - thank you for posting that photo yesterday. That Cindy is a wicked one, is she not?? Those shrimp LOOKED good, but that's as far as they went. They still taste like shrimp! Double ick!

JANA - lol!! I doubt Bill has even heard of Pinterest! He saw this recipe on Facebook. We tried it last night and it was pretty good.

IRISH - you're tough to stay up until midnight. Of course, midnight comes sooner on the east coast so you don't have to stay awake as long. ;o]

That recipe for cube steak was simple: I used four cube steaks but the recipe called for a "family pack". I seared mine first because I prefer meat already browned before putting it in the crockpot, but that's not necessary. I also seasoned them with S&P. the sauce was 2 cans of Cream of Mushroom soup, 1 envelope onion soup mix, and 3/4 water. poured that over the steaks, wiggled them around a bit to get them all juicy and I cooked them for four hours. you might want to cook them longer if you cook more. They were very tender and it was a good gravy. We had mashed potatoes and black=eyed peas with it.

Tonite's supper will be more of the same. Though Cindy and I will probably drag our DH's on a F.A.R.T. to the two LQS's within 10 miles of here and finish off with a late lunch at Souper Salad, a great buffet place, so that may fill us up for supper. And there are outlet stores here, too, Where I need to pick up a birthday present for Autumn. So if we haven't killed off poor Cindy and her hip/knee by then I will stop and pick that up, too. And if she wants to swing by Hobby Lobby, we can do that, too. So we'll have a full day and there'll be no time for cooking!

Hope your day is so full of great things that you won't be cooking either!

Good morning,

Mary - glad that you straightened me out on Pinterest. By the way - shrimp are , as Ethan says, "yuuuummme".

Dinner is lasagna, salad and garlic bread. Followed with birthday cake for Ethan, 3rd, and Daniel, 34th. Next week we will celebrate Stu's 18th and Emma's 2nd.

My garlic bread is really simple - cream cheese mixed with butter, add garlic powder, lather on to french bread, bake until bubbly and hot. Equal parts butter and cream cheese. If you are not allergic to paprika, sprinkle on top before baking. Sarah is allergic tompaprika, so we make sure not to use it.

Enjoy,
Jana

Hi y'all, Our visit to Texas included some good food, but my gang is ready for some "Mama Food". Not sure what that will be yet. I'll visit later with menu. Enjoy your day, Abita

Good late morning from sunny but still darn cold, Sw. Pa...The sun does help but bring on the 80s......

Mary, that recipe does sound good and if there is mashed potatoes involved, Jim will love it....Gee, I feel bad for Cindy having to do all that "running" today...Loved the picture but I do have to agree with those who like shrimp, (yummy)...Enjoy your day, as I know you will......

Last night's dinner was good and left overs were on the menu for tonight but, had a call to pick up Jim's glasses so that means a trip out and that means I have to change into "decent looking" clothes, and that alone deserves a dinner out...

Happy eating................

Hi, All! We came home from two days at Grand Lake with friends as we rang in the new year to freezing rain and sleet. What a yucky SLICK mess. The dogs stayed by their selves and were so happy to see us when we returned. They are sure sticking close to us since we got home. We took them to town to the bank today for their treat and an outing for being good while we were gone. DH said it would have been fun to have a nanny cam on them while we were out. It didn’t look like they had any parties or friends over while we were gone. I think they spent quite a bit of time on the bed.

By the way—we stayed up until almost 3 a.m. New Year’s eve. I learned how to play Golf the card game, plus we played dominoes. Oh, and we ate pretty much the whole time we were at the lake.

Jana—your garlic bread sounds delicious! I’ll have to remember that one. I still like it made with fresh garlic, but powder works just as well.

I got a kick out of the shrimp picture and wished I were there—no fight on my part if there’s shrimp!

Irish—I hate having to put on “decent looking” clothes to leave the farm, too! So funny!!!

Mary and Cindy—have a blast today! Souper Salad sounds yummy! I haven’t been to an outlet mall in 15 years. I’m so stuck in the middle of nowhere.

As for dinner… I think I can scrounge up some leftovers. I know I have a bag of veggies and some dips. I might open some soup. It’s definitely a gloomy, chilly, damp soup kind of day.

If you are looking for me, I’ll be cutting out the green and white blocks… I'd rather be hibernating with my head under the covers until the sun is out permanently and warmly.
