SUPPER CLUB - Mon, Dec 29th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Dec 29, 2014 1:14 am

Can you believe that it's almost 2015?? I remember thinking that high school graduation (1969) would NEVER get here!

CHICKIE - your mac & cheese with ham sounds delish. And I know where you live!

BECCA - glad your neighbor is doing well and so nice of you to take food over. I KNOW she'll appreciate it.

JO - your day was much like ours - parked in front of football all day long (3 games!) We had to watch the 'Hawks on the computer though. Had it propped up on a big box in front of our couch and the Green Bay game on the TV in the background. I think the Steelers 'steeled' your game, didn't they?

ABITA - I don't know where you are going, but Hiway 59 goes through Victoria and there's a great quilt shop there that Lyn, Cindy, Honey, and I went to.

JANA - Didn't your 'Niners win yesterday?

VELDA - sorry you are feeling punk. That's exactly how I feel sometimes with the "cedar fever" that is so prevalent in the Austin area at this time of year - and the locals say it's worse than in years past. It's also how I feel when sewing with unwashed fabric. The fabric dust and/or sizing makes me junky in my lungs for several days. Hence I ALWAYS wash my fabrics!

Either today or tomorrow we are going to the kids' house again. We brought our "chainsaw on a stick" from home to limb some of their trees and we'll haul brush to a yard recycle place in our pick-up for them. Also, DH will put a light in Autumn's pantry for her. But we're not sure which day yet. They aren't early risers on their days off.

You know, I forgot to make supper last night! I guess that bad is on me. In my defense, though, DH didn't make any hungry noises. We ended up with PB&J's at 7:30! I'm not sure about tonite's menu since we're not sure if we're going to the kids. Maybe grilled ham & cheese with tomato bisque soup . . .

Hope your supper plan comes together better than ours seem to be doing!

:-) PB&J is always a good backup. Frankie likes to take it for lunch quite often. We still have leftovers here but tonight all those end. I froze a few leftovers before Christmas so I might start thawing for tomorrow night :-) it works for me LOL no cooking for as long as I can get away with it! Hehehe.

Mary, I forgot to ask, what's a chainsaw on a stick? I'm sure it's not what I have in mind LOL

The mac 'n cheese with ham and broccoli was delicious! It just didn't turn out to be a casserole but a rich, creamy soup. I didn't drain the pasta well and went with the flow and made a soup (no pun intended). I have more tonight, but by the time it sits, it could be a creamy casserole.

I saw where the Chiefs and Niners both won yesterday.

MaryZ--you could almost write the quilter's road directory or at least update it. I got Mom one a few years ago. She loves to look at it and armchair travel. Whenever my sister or I go somewhere, she tells us where the quilt shops are located.

Tina--I don't care what I fix as long as it doesn't involve "heavy" cooking. I do like "heat and eat". Better yet is going out.

DH worked on firewood all day yesterday, and from time to time when I saw him with a trailer load, I'd go out and help him unload and stack. He was hungry as a bear and didn't care what he ate last evening. He had two bowls of the soup and pronounced it "good". We had the last of the pumpkin pie for dessert. I think there are some cookies for dessert tonight.

Enjoy!

Good morning,

Mary - yes my 9ers won last night, but lost our good head coach. Harbaugh is leaving the team to coach The University of Michigan, his alma mater. We will see what happens now.

Dinner was good last night, Matt and family stopped by after dinner and he snitched gravy, he just could not stop eating it. He thought I had a new recipe - lol - he has had it many times. Leftovers will grace the table tonight - tacos or pot roast.

Enjoy,
Jana

Yep, our Bengals lost to the "Steelers"..not a surprise.

Tonight is Dinner with the Pringles at Cracker Barrel...Earl picked it. I always like going there, too.

Time for lunch....leftover ham from Christmas.

Good early afternoon from sunny but cold, Sw. Pa...The sun sure does help but just don't go outside......The doors and windows are closed tight and the neighbor is drying clothes in the dryer today.....

Mary, you are a "walking quilt atlas" aren't you? There are days when I'd love to forget dinner but that fellow in this house does like to eat, even if it's a bowl of cereal...And I often think, it's not because either of us are hungry, it's "oh well, it's that time of day"! Your house sounded like our house with all the football games....Cari's boyfriend likes Atlanta but they lost so that was sad...I had made him a Falcon throw and pillow and I'm hoping that wasn't a bad omen.....

Joanne, I really have decided, I'm going to be a Pringle in my next life....I love, love Cracker Barrel but our's is kind of far...Of course, along with the food, I really do like their gift shop...So many good ideas.....Hey, your Bengals gave my Steelers a run for their money, almost right down to the wire....

I was so bad last night...Cari brought me my favorite BBQ chips, Middleswarth from Central Pa., so for my dinner, I had a bowl of chips (or 2), a cup of tea and a bag of black licorice (she also brought from Hershey)...I know, weird but I did it! Jim on the other hand had left over chili....

Now tonight, maybe some chips but I'm thinking ham, ham and more ham....That ham didn't look that big when I bought it! Good guess what I'll make with it.......Cari also brought lots and lots of cookies so we all know Jim is happy......

Happy eating.....
