SUPPER CLUB - Friday - Sept 26th
Happy Rainy Day!!
We've got a gully-washer going on. Guess we can turn off the sprinklers! I call days like this sewing days.
JO - what a novel idea - take raw meatloaf and shape it into patties for the grill. Here, we'd call that hamburgers! lol!! (but I bet they tasted good!)
IRISH - I thought of you yesterday as I did errands and saw lower gas prices at most of the stations in Gig Harbor. (not the one by us. He's hanging in there at $4.09 for regular!) From now on, gas will always bring on thoughts of you! lol! And does Chris know that all of us quilting ladies are cheering each little tinkle from him? Sending him hugs!
BECCA - I hope your DH gets some relief soon. Life is no fun when you constantly hurt. Sorry, I forgot to wish you a happy 1/2 birthday, too! We're almost twins!
CHICKIE - you can make ALMOST anything better with a can of creamed soup! lol!!
JANA - aarrgghhh!!! F--H soup???!! Is that even a thing?? And I know how it feels to have one of your chicks so far away with little hope of them ever moving home again (though from his perspective I suppose YOU'RE the one who moved away.)
Last night we had a spur of the moment dinner out with my brother and SIL. DH and I split a reuben sandwich. I've never had one and he enjoys them so I thought, "how bad can it be?" Well, let me tell you, PRETTY BAD!! It wasn't the kraut, it was the corned beef on it. I did eat most of it but it was a struggle. Maybe it's because I'm not a meat fan in general. I like sauerkraut and we even have some leftover in the fridge for tonite. But I'll not be ordering THAT sandwich again! But DH did give me credit for trying it.
And now you know that tonite will be leftover sausage and kraut with a salad, heavy on the tomatoes. And probably some more of those brussels sprouts. Turns out there's a lot more of those tiny cabbages on a fresh stalk than it looks like in the store.
Hope you're not having to eat reuben sandwiches tonite!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday - Sept 26th
Good morning! Mary, when you tire of the rain, send it here. Our ponds need it. I have made meatloaf burgers for 40 years... never thought about its being a new thing. It started accidentally when I didn't have time to get it baked. Mom and I love Reuben sandwiches. Costco has good corned beef. You could make Bill sandwiches at home.
Irish, I hope Chris continues to make progress. It reminds me of the ordeal my BIL went through a few years ago. He made a complete recovery but lost much of his hearing...a side effect of the anesthesia.
As for dinner... Must go check the freezer. Maybe it will be a stew or soup. I know there is pear crisp or crumble that I made yesterday after lumberjack assistance for DH.

Good morning,
Mary - you will be pleased to know that the banned soup did not appear here last night. We needed a milk run to the store and somehow, with DH's help a pair of small ribeye steaks jumped into the basket! DH is not a big fan of the banned soup. Oh how I love a corned beef sandwich, but not Rueben's - no sauerkraut in this house - that is a banned food along with brussel sprouts. But corned beef on toasted sourdough bread and ooey gooey melted swiss - now I need one! LOL it isn't even breakfast here yet!
DH also tossed in the fixins for tortilla soup. That is what we will have tonight. I think that I could feed him that every day and get no complaints! DH has his stash of cookies for afters, me, I can rustle up some goodie.
Daniel is home - again - fire command has released most of the 8000 firefighters - they have a good handle on the fire now. Back to the rice.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning from getting warm, and very sunny, SW. Pa....Gorgeous day, here in the east....
Mary, I guess I'm happy to know you'll think of me when you get gas, lol.......
And, Chris does know all about the quilting ladies...And, he's very, very appreciative....AND, he might be coming home on Monday....If he had been going to a rehab, he could have gone yesterday but since, he opted to go home, they'll work with him over the weekend and then Kathy gets him....I have a feeling, he'll wish he had gone to a rehab when she gets her hands on him, lol.....She told me the other day, she just wants to give him the biggest hug and hold him without all those tubes and wires attached....
And speaking of Kathy, she's meeting me for lunch....My sister is coming down and we're going to the same place I had lunch on Monday...Maybe they'll give me a discount....
And we all know when I go out to lunch, no dinner....There's always a chance I might pick up something for Jim on my way back....I did find another zucchini in the garden so that could just make it to the table tonight..Maybe breaded but not sure what else......Too many decisions to make.......
Happy eating................

Good Afternoon All......bit nippy with grey skies.....but it tidied up by lunch time.......
Such a busy day yesterday......2 couples of our original caravan group friends came to see us.....we hadn't seen either of them for at about 4 or 5 years.....both couples are into Line Dancing and those week ends clashed with our week ends....it was lovely to see them all again.....and of course.....while the Coffee....toasted Tea Cakes(and Mini Choccy Swiss Rolls)was doing the rounds.....the Electricity man called....the power pole next door is being moved.....he needed to measure the distance( it feeds us with power).....and then.....the Gas man Came To Call our boiler is being a pain and not behaving.....so before winter sets in and no-one....but no-one will be available.....we asked for an appointment....and guess what...he came almost at once.....but at least the boiler has had its operation and a new card in its tum....
so all in all we had an eventful day.....and our friends spent so much time with us......they are doing their trip to Hereford Cathedral today......
We did eat last night....but cant remember what......however...,.I do know todays menu......

Hi ladies:
I am not a regular here, but I know you all from the Sew In's. So I thought I would pop in and tell you that tonight is: Mac n Cheese night at the Reed's.
We put our boat on the trailer and DH has been busy cleaning it up. Will cover and let it sit at the campsite for the weekend. Not many fishing days left here. We will be taking the boat to storage on Oct. 21. That will be here before you know it.
Thought I would fix some nice hash browns and a vegi to go with the M n C.
It's a meal that both DH and I enjoy. Sorry, y'all don't enjoy it as well. Maybe some do, by we have to respect our friends and not mention that 4 letter word here.
Have a great night. See you around the forum tomorrow.
Hugs
Velda
