SUPPER CLUB = Sat, Aug 23rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Aug 23, 2014 6:19 am

Good Morning! Though I suppose it's edging on towards afternoon for some of you. Carol - you've probably gone to bed! lol!

We ended up with chicken, corn, and tomato pie last night. And we have all left but the corn, so tonite I will sup in a salad. I never made tomato pie, but they mentioned it in the new book I just started (Quilt or Innocence by Elizabeth Craig) so I googled it since I had a lot of tomatoes. it wasn't bad. DH didn't say much so I don't suppose it went on his list of greatest hits.

DH said he wanted to go "do something" today, but had no idea what. Have I mentioned that he can't make decisions. Anyway, I'm not sure if I'll be in my sewing room, the yard, at the Mall, or across the state! Surprises can be fun!

How's the menu planning coming along at your house?

Good early afternoon from warm, sunny, purrrrfect, SW. Pa....We woke to a dreary morning but it sure has gotten nice, just not sure how long it might stay...........

Mary, I've never had tomato pie but after the last couple of "zucchini" dishes, I'd be afraid to put it in front of Jim....
And I agree about surprises, love most of them....Jim was getting antsy so he decided to visit a friend...He did ask if I wanted to go shopping but that would have meant actually putting on shoes and decent clothes...Maybe tomorrow....

I was wondering if anyone had heard from Joanne....I think the last time she posted, she was on her way shopping with her gal friends....Hope they're not waiting for someone to post bond....

Well, once again, not sure what might appear on our table..It could be the hot dogs and beans that had been on the menu the other day but some how got replaced....Or if Jim is extra nice, he might stop at Subway on his way home....Wonder if I can send enough "subway vibes" his way......But, for sure we won't go hungry.........

Happy eating..............

Good afternoon,

Don't have a clue what's for dinner, maybe burgers on the grill - bought some lovely looking artisan hamburger buns. But do know what is for afters. I just made Ina Garten's Mocha chocolate ice box cake - with a few changes. Since we don't use coffee, I just left it out along with the Kailaua liqueur - still the whipped cream filling was yummy! I also used chocolate wafer cookies. So we shall see if it gets yummier as it waits in the refrig. Now to be patient - not one of my better virtues.

Enjoy,
Jana

I can only imagine how tomato pie would go over here. I made zucchini crisps and DH was pleasantly surprised. He kind of shuns veggies--especially the ones that are good for you.

I'm getting ready to start my marathon of cooking for brunch here tomorrow. We will have 26 hungry mouths. With the temperatures at 100, I guess I'll be setting up tables inside in the AC. So much for my nicely waxed, shiny floors.

Jana--I would love the cake in the original recipe, but I understand your reasons for leaving out the "good stuff".

I'll be throwing a burger DH's way this evening. He might twist my arm for a slice of bacon to go on it along with a slice of tomato.

When I got home from my morning of shopping and visiting, I was hungry so I fixed a quick plate of cheese and tomato nachos. After seeing them, DH wanted some too, so dinner will be light.

I won't be here until LATE tomorrow. We will probably have BLTs tomorrow evening if there is left-over bacon.
