SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Aug 22nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Aug 22, 2014 4:15 am

It sure feels like a fall morning here. Sounds like fall, too. The air is more clear and sound carries further. and the spiders are moving in!! all signs of autumn. The season, not the daughter.

IRISH - I had a one-sided discourse with you in the sew-in on J.A.Jance's books. I also love Mary Higgins Clark and Mary Daheim. Daheim is another Seattle author and she writes 2 series - both mysteries and one is a spoof sort (spoofing herself and her own family) and one is more serious, and set in WA. I love her books.

CAROL - you're just having one big old birthday party!! I thought I smelled cake! Hope everyone had/has a happy day!

Tonite, I think we'll have grilled chicken, new red potatoes, corn on the cob, and salad. Potatoes, corn, and tomatoes are from my DB & SIL's garden. I can't wait to eat tonite!

What's cookin' at your house tonite?

Mary--I'll be having tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes. DH will get a burger. I cooked three last night, so "instant" tonight. I have some potatoes, so probably will do something with them. It's too darn hot to make much of an effort at cooking. Your menu sounds much better. I'm out of lettuce. I do have watermelon for dessert.

Good morning from partly sunny but getting warm, Sw. Pa...We did have rain and now Jim is waiting for the grass to dry so he can play with the mower.....Gone are those August days when the grass turned brown and the lawn mower got a rest....

Mary, I also like Mary Higgins Clark but haven't heard about Daheim...Will have to check the next trip to the Library....I think I'm almost at the end of our supply of Scottoline's books at our Library....Boy, your dinner does sound good....

Carol, Happy, happy belated Birthday...And it's OK to celebrate for days...I did and another gal friend is taking me out to a "birthday" lunch next week....We still stay 39, no matter how many days we have fun.....

As for our dinner, I give up....Right now, nothing comes to mind...Last night I made those fake crab cakes and they were good...When Jim started eating, he said he was afraid I was going to give him zucchini again and then he laughed.....But, he did think they were good.....Tonight might be a bowl of cereal! (without zucchini)

Happy eating...............

Good afternoon ladies. I tried reading a Mary Higgins Clark book once and couldn't get into it. I read mostly Vince Flynn spy novels, political novels, and American history non-fiction. I have always been a history junkie. I do like a good mystery now and then though.

Carol - I would celebrate my birthday all week if I were you. Save me a piece of cake. glad you had a good trip.

FarmChick - I agree too hot to cook. I love tomatoes. I can make a meal of tomatoes with a little Miracle Whip and salt. Smoke loves green peppers. He eats 2 or 3 a week himself. It is really weird.

Tonight I am just going to make some tacos and cantalope for supper. They are quick and easy my two requirements for cooking in this weather.
