SUPPER CLUB - Sun., Aug 17th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Aug 17, 2014 3:45 am

Happy Sunday!

IRISH - did you have a happy birthday? Pizza, paper plates, and eagles sounds like my kind of party!!

BECCA - thank you so much for your continuing prayers for my girl. I pray your prayers work for her. But so far, no news. That's a LOT of green beans!! Enough for about 10 years for me! Happy Homecoming to your Levi! Has he started the trip home yet?

JANA - hope you aren't feeling any "leftovers" from your creeping crud the other day. What did you do for your anniversary? Haha!! next time you see me, you can beat me! But whether I say it or not, it's still only 19 Saturdays 'til Christmas. I'm just doing a public service by letting you know that it's time to get busy!

CHICKIE - we have a friend who hates animals of all kinds. I just don't get that. While I bill myself as a cat purrson, dogs are just so giving of everything good. Who can resist that! Your homemade sauces will taste so good this winter. We like our sauce chunky, too. So I leave skins and seeds intact, too.

Last night we had those big thick boneless pork chops with mushroom gravy. We have enough left for another meal so that's the plan for tonite, with wide egg noodles, and a veggie of some kind.

My mind is already turning towards tomorow. I've got a hankering for Mexican food and I think chili relleno casserole, refried beans, and Mexican rice will satisfy my craving. Just a preview . . .

Haven't post on this particular tread for awhile. Thought I would check on what you all are eating.

Irishgram - Hope you had a Happy Birthday.

Jana- Happy 39th anniversary. I know what you mean about it going fast. DH and I had our 47th anniversary about 3 weeks before he passed away. I wanted to much to get to 50. I know you don't feel old enough to be married 39 years. I know I don't feel like almost 67 years old. When I was a kid someone that old had "one foot in the grave". LOL

Miriam & Maryz - I can't imagine anyone hating dogs or cats. A few people that I have met that don't like animals always seem so unhappy or a sour puss. It is a known fact that people who have pets are less depressed and live longer with the companionship.

Well, back to the food subject. I put my homemade Swiss steak in the crockpot for supper. I have not made it since DH passed away, but I got really hungry for it so I made it. I will have mashed potatoes, and cantaloupe with it for supper. Makes me hungry already thinking about it. LOL Of course I will share a little with Smoke. he loves fresh fruits and vegetables especially green peppers and watermelon.

Good afternoon! We had a different set of "Must Go" last night, so tonight it will be steak and baked potato, salad, and watermelon.

I've been hanging out laundry, fixing/eating brunch, and now I must get the dishes cleaned up and get on to cleaning the floors. Chores are ever present.

Sherry--welcome to the table! I'll be coming to your house for dinner. I can't imagine not loving animals. I know mine make so much work for me with that long, shedding hair on Tinker Bell and huge muddy paws, but I wouldn't trade her for a spotless floor and empty house. She is so full of love. Of course, Odie is my little Buddy and hates to be without me--just like I miss him when he can't accompany me because it's too hot to leave him when I have to go in someplace. I wonder if I could put a back pack on him and call him a service dog and take him in the grocery store??? I don't think he'd pass the front door--too friendly!

Good afternoon from not real warm and not real sunny, SW. Pa...As someone said coming out of church, this is way better than snow, so I'm not complaining.....

Thank you all for the birthday wishes...My day was a good one, hearing from all the kids and Jim being extra sweet...

Mary, we did have paper plates with our pizza and my new eagle was standing guard....And this morning at breakfast our waitress and a lot of the other waitresses came to the table with a little cake and sang....Being 77 is having it's perks, lol.....(Did I say 77, that can't be right).

Sherry, your dinner is sounding great, making me hungry....And you're right about when we were younger...I always remember Jim saying, when his father turned 40 he would allow him to cut the grass any more, thought he was too old...And here's Jim at 83 doing our grass and it takes him about 4 hours with a self propelled, no rider.....Hope you and Smoke enjoy your dinner.....

Becca, thank you again for thinking of Chris...He's still having a hard time but is getting stronger...We were teasing him the other night because now he does go upstairs...Said, he's a big boy, able to do steps....I can imagine you can't think of anything but Levi...Try not to hurt the poor boy when you give him all those hugs...And enjoy every minute....

You know, I've found anyone that doesn't care for animals are the 1st ones those pets go to when they visit...2 of our boys don't care for cats and when those 2 come, our cats are all over them...I think it's really funny....

Well, onto dinner....Another easy day, there is still a couple pieces of pizza, we have left over chicken wings and even a little of the forbidden casserole from the other night, so we're set....Tomorrow I'm going to lunch with some gal friends and that might be another night for no cooking....I'm liking this birthday more and more......

Happy eating................
