Post by ladyevans » Sun Aug 03, 2014 12:40 am

Good Morning All......there has been quite a bit of rain in our weather past few days.....we need it....so no grumbles here......

Havent been around for the past few days....had an "icky tum" and didn't want to pass it over to you.....
Few years ago I had "Campy Lobactor" not an experience I want to repeat....so tend to worry over upset tums.....ok now.....just feel a bit washed out.....the joys of being a wrinkly........

Its been mostly soups on our menu.....but we need "proper food"
today......
so todays menu......Pork Chops....Tiny New Potatoes.....Carrots and Swede......Rice Pudding for afters

Bonnie Hunter is over here co-hosting a trip with quilters.....they will be going to the FOQ at the NEC(national exhibition centre) in Birmingham....don't know if any of you follow her page....but there are some good photos of our Grenadier Guards at Buckinging Palace

Carol......may be able to come back later.....hopefully....says she

Good morning!

Carol—you are up and at ‘em early… at least on this side of the pond. Hope you feel better with “proper food” although I do love any kind of soup.

Several of the girls here make Bonnie Hunter quilts. I really like her use of scraps. I will check her page.

We will be having tomatoes… at least I will. DH isn’t a tomato eater. I’m eating them three meals a day. There will also be burgers on the menu and maybe a watermelon from the garden patch. I think I also have some corn to fix. Summer fare here!

I think I missed a few days here because I was running errands and busy supervising the shed building and cooking for the guys. I don’t think I have to cook for them today; it’s pick up tools and clean up and finish a little trim and they are finished! DH has some fence to build around it, and then just fill it with tractors and such.

Becca—I see you are cooking for a crowd and had surprise guests last night. Know you were delighted to see them!

Have a great day! Eat well!

Good Morning!

I'm a little late today. But then it's only 8:20 here, so maybe not so behind.

CAROL - sorry about your tummy issues. Hope the chops wake up your tum tum and it says, "yum yum!"

CHICKIE - happy that your shed is getting finished. I was getting tired! Did you ever find out what caused your power outage? did you get your tomatoes canned? I enjoy canning tomatoes, but haven't done it for a few years. Most of my canning is limited to applesauce and peaches. and jam, of course.

BECCA - yay for your kids! What fun to find them on your doorstep! I know when DH and I are traveling, once we make "the turn" all we can smell is the barn and we make fast tracks home.

JANA - sorry about your shingle shortage! hate buying a whole pack for just a few. maybe they'll have a broken bundle on sale . . Tell Sarah thank you for the garlic info! Relieved to know I've been doing it right. I sure like having my garlic all pre-peeled and pre-minced

DH has requested my signature pasta dish, which is just my version of pesto and sometimes I add sliced kielbasa, or black beans, olives, tomatoes, or various veggies. So we'll see what goes into it tonite.

Good afternoon from dreary, semi rainy, SW. Pa...Hopefully Mr. Sun will come out of hiding and decide to stay for awhile....
We went to early Mass and then had to stand in the back of the church for almost half an hour waiting for the rain to slow down so we could get to the car....I did tell Fr. it would be a good day to auction off all those old, left behind umbrellas..It was kind of funny, most the DHs would run to the car and then bring it to the door for the wives....Looked like valet parking...When Jim brought our car, another lady started to run out and was about to jump in until she discovered, wrong car....Wonder how long it would have taken Jim to discover he had the wrong gal.....

Our breakfast friends were going to a family reunion so Jim and I decided to come home..I cooked, something I said I wasn't doing for a few days but I did make breakfast....

Carol, sorry to hear the tummy hasn't been feeling right...Sure does put the "cabash" to plans when all parts of the body aren't up to par....Hopefully you will be feeling better real quick....

Not sure what's on our schedule for today, except watching the Pirates later this afternoon....I was thinking of heading to the Library..I have a bunch to take back and I'm sure I can find a few that need read....

And as far as dinner, I think I'm back on strike....Of course I could be bribed to go out or even pick up something and bring it home....So, we'll see...........

Happy eating............

Good morning,

Let's hope today's dinner comes out better than the burnt offerings I served last night. Some how, every ended up burnt in one way or the other. DH was a good sport about eating it.

I have chicken, so will turn that into chicken and fluffy dumplings. The ones on the bisquick box. Should be able to make that without burning!

Enjoy,
Jana, hoping not to send off the smoke alarm

Too many interruptions today to can. I will do it tomorrow. I think I'll make salsa. The shed is finished!!! We celebrated when the guys finished by getting a watermelon from the garden and eating it around the picnic table. Such fun!
