SUPPER CLUB - Wed, May 28th
Typing out Supper club is good for me, I always type the date and it recalls for me all that I need to remember for the day. and today is my parents' 80th anniversary. They were engaged 10 months with no set date because of the Depression and also because my mom's mother was 'troublesome' to them. Finally Daddy said, 'we get married in 10 days or we don't get married at all.' Mom scrambled to make her dress and Daddy's mom made her a bouquet of pink tea roses (the rosebush is now planted in MY yard!), a cake, and a wedding breakfast for all 10 of the wedding party. They lived the first four months in a tent under an apple tree in my Dad's parents' orchard. And 17 yrs later I was born. Now you have to admit that's a romantic story!
Dr appt went very well. I even lost 3# which surprised me. and he praised that and never once mentioned the 40# more I should lose. My BP was a tad high, but I'd just climbed the stairs in the building, expecting I'd have time to sit and wait and let my BP settle down again. But they took me right back. I never even sat down in the waiting room. I asked him what kind of doctor was he, anyway?! No waiting allowed?? really?? lol!
Now for supper. I'm going to try a recipe I saw on FB - lasagna made with alfredo sauce and chicken. You roll the noodles up pinwheel fashion instead of laying them flat, but I think I'll lay them flat anyway. If "they" don't like it, "they" can come find me.
What about everyone else? Are you having a rebellious dinner tonite, too?

Good morning Mary and those who follow. I'm trying not to buy too much, since we leave in a few days, you know how that goes Mary.
Dinner will either be chicken or something with ground buffalo. Veggie will be acorn squash. Special treat, ice cream for dessert or afters.
Not very rebellious. For me that would be the 'F' word. lol

Oops, forgot to say I enjoyed your story about your parents. My parents first date was on a one cylinder Harley, 1939 model. My mom was oldest of 3, at the time. When she told her mom that she was engaged, grandma looked at her and said, "don't expect a wedding out of us, I'm pregnant!" My sister and our aunt are less than a year about. For the folks 50th anniversary, we gave them a church wedding and reception. In August they will celebrate 74 years.

Goof morning from semi sunny, warm, Sw. Pa...We had a terrible storm last night and wasn't sure what I'd expect when I looked out this morning. But, I think all my flowers survived and the mulch didn't wash away......When it started to storm, I had been watching the eagles and I actually thought they were going to get blown away..
Mary, that's quite a love story..And actually living in a tent, that's really something....
I think I'm going to be the one to rebel...I'm to go to another card party tonight (one that I had forgotten about) and that means lots of food...Jim does have errands to run this afternoon and I might have him pick up something for his dinner...Either that or maybe another bowl of cereal, lol...But, not to worry, Jim won't starve....
Happy eating..............

I've been missing but still eating like crazy...On Memorial Day we had our "postponed" Easter ham dinner and egg hunt. It was too hot and humid for me, but at least it didn't rain. We are still eating the leftovers...
Irish, I too thought you were tall! Isn't that strange??! I was almost 5'5", but have shrunk to about 5'3" or so.
Tonight Earl will grill some Teriaki chicken kabobs and we'll try to finish off the baked beans and potato salad. For afters we have the rest of the 7 up cake (which was yummy) and a few chocolate cupcakes.
I wish it would RAIN...
