Happy Memorial Day to us all - especially to those who've given their all for us - and their families.
The Ren Faire yesterday wasn't going, but the mid-evil villlage, set in 1347 Emgland (Camlaan) could still be toured and the wool spnner and the blacksmith were there working and it was kind of fascinating. Then we were called to supper. They serve at 5pm. Traditional food of the times, prepared and served in the traditional manner. There were 6 of us so we got one of everything and shared it. There was fenberry pie (pie of pork, chicken, and ??berries), salmon, pork, 2 kinds of chicken as well as a platter of sliced fruit, cheeses, and greens. Drinks were ale, cider, mead, and bordeaux. We drank from pewter vessels and water was served from hand-thrown pottery jug into small carved wooden bowl-shaped cups. Everything was good and we had a minstrel singing ballads and playing the lute. (he was also the gate keeper, the money taker, and the waiter.)
Carol - I hope you dry out soon! We were wet all day yesterday but oh, the green here is amazing! and we can't have green without the rain. They don't call us the Evergreen State for nothing!
Sooz - would love to order pizza - except we just did that last Thursday, the first day of my no-cooking marathon! I'm not sure DH would go for that again so soon. .
Irish - hope you enjoyed those burgers! So, how tall are you? I'm 4',11-3/4", taller than my mom and my older sis. The kids loved being taller than all of us by 2nd grade! lol!
Tonite's supper? Well, I always reserve DH's right to veto, but at the moment I'm leaning toward the pasties that I have in the freezer. with a big salad on the side. I'd make a dessert, but I have my annual physiscal tomorrow morning and with all this eating this past week, I've gained back my 3 pounds I lost. Maybe dessert will come tomorrow . .
Bon Appetit`!

Happy Memorial or Decoration Day from warm, sunny, purrrrfect, Sw. Pa...
Mary, your outing yesterday sounds like so much fun...I've only been to something like that once and of course that was with Kathy and the girls...She was always coming up with something "different" for us to do...Can you tell I miss her???
And from one shorty to another, you're my kind of gal...At one time I was 5' but now I'm your size, lol...I know what you mean about the kids being taller. I still can't figure how I managed to have boys that are well over 6'.....
We did go to Kevin's and Cindy cooked and the burgers were wonderful. both their boys were gone so it was just the 4 of us and it was great. She even had Boston cream pie for dessert....
AND for our dinner today, we're having a repeat...We have no plans except working around the house so that grill is going to be put to use...I'm making a little potato salad to go with the burgers..And since the baker is still on strike, Jim will have to be satisfied with the goodies that jumped into the buggy while we were shopping at Aldi's....I'm sure he'll survive....
Happy eating...............

Today is pajama day and hubby is cooking dinner! He picked up some gorgeous steaks and will make a baked potato and salad. I am having a severe allergic reaction and my face is all swollen.... Glad we decided to stay in today...lol.
Enjoy the day!
