SUPPER CLUB - Mon, May 12th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon May 12, 2014 3:35 am

Good Morning!

I hope you all had a nice weekend with your families, even if by phone. We had an impromptu breakfast with my DB and SIL at the local watering hole. We went early and avoided the crowds. I had a long visit (by phone) with my DD in Texas. She was feeling a bit down because she'd had to fire one of her favorite employees - a very sweet young man who was padding his timecard by almost an hour a day. She said he was even 1-1/2 hrs. late to the meeting with her! Dd has a marshmellow heart and I think it hurt her more than it hurt him to have to let him go.

Now, let's talk food! I think, since we still have buns, that we'll BBQ burgers again. Turkey for DH, and Black Bean vegetarian for me. Both are in the frezer and we just pull them out and plop them on the grill. I'll have coleslaw on the side, too. We should hit 70+ degrees today so maybe we'll even be able to eat outside.

Hope your supper is as simple to fix as ours!

Good early afternoon from warm but slightly overcast, SW. Pa...We did have rain this morning and I was hoping it would clear up....

Mary, sounds like you had a good "mother's day". Our's was busy as usual but very good....

I was already to say, my kitchen will be closed because our Lioness card party is tonight and I'll be there...BUT, my kitchen is getting a workout for the party. I've already made 2 pounds of macaroni salad and I have my cake 1/2 done...The cake is called Better than Brad Pitt but I really don't care for him so I call it my George Clooney cake...Yellow cake, then a layer of crushed pineapple, then pudding and then whipped cream topped with toasted coconut...It is pretty darn good and it might be a struggle keeping Jim from cutting into it...

So as far as dinner, Jim will be on his own, minus the mac salad and cake...I'm sure the "old guy" can find something in the frig, just might take some looking....

Happy eating..............

Good Morning MARYz & others. Hot here & sunshine.

MARYZ I love those burgers.I make my own & freeze them.So simple to get out as needed.Nothing beats grilling.

I saw something amazing on my walk.At least a hundred butterflies all together on the ground. They flew up around me but went back after I passed. They were there when I come back.It was beautiful thing to see.Monnarks & tourqoise kind.

Well food talk.DH wants his Pork BBQ DD bought him.And steak fries.I will have a big salad ,fresh grapes,& melon.Have a good day ..Becca

Forgot to say my Mothers Day was wonderful.DS who we do not see very often came & that was a treat.Always gives me a beautiful hanging basket (fushia) I have 3 more baskets he has given me & I Winter them over.DD give me clothes this year.Other DS always gives me flowers too.Hope your day was filled with love.

Good Evening All.....another very blowy day today.....with just a sprinkle of rain splatters.....

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:-

LEAD ME NOT INTO TEMPTATION......I CAN DO THAT MYSELF......

On Saturday we went to a market town about 40 miles away for breakfast.......and the place where we eat......has closed down....ok so we went somewhere else....but its sad.....got a lot of history.to it.....started as a 17th century Inn.....however there seems to be a bit of a mystery as to what it will reopen as.....no body seemed to know what was going on....will have to keep my ear to the ground....I"m nosey like that......no....no...what is it that you ladies say.....concerned.....that's right.....you are concerned...must remember that.....sounds better.....However there is a nice little fabric shop there......oh dear......all my running away money was gone in a flash.....but did get some nice bargains........

Now,we have heard we may be losing our Abergavenny bus......so all over the week-end its been to-ing and fro-ing trying to find out who and what is being written in our letters.....its no good doing a petition.....we need lots of letters and snowball whoevers bright idea it was........needless to say....not a lot has been done in this abode.....but I have found time to enter the kitchen........

So todays menu......Left over Lamb from sundays roast.....Creamed Potatoes....Cauliflower and Peas.....Rice Pudding for afters.....

Carol
