SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Mar 30th
We are really closing in on March, aren't we? It's sure not going out like a lamb, either! Last week we shattered the 90 yr old record for wettest March on record and it's been raining steadily ever since. Since I've missed most of the month here, I'm not tired of it yet - but soon I'll be ready for a little sunshine!
JO - there's no such thing as too big a menu - only too big a menu prices!
IRISH - congrats on your new baby! My local friend is also an eagle cam watcher and gives me reports. but you got me - what is 'halushki' (sp?). And how do you make your pirogies? Or do you buy them?
BECCA - I talked to my Sis-I-L in Charlotte and she says it's been a pretty rough winter for them, too. Wonder what this means for summertime?
Last night I did get my pasties made! And they were good! I had three more to tuck into the freezer for another night. Basically, I just made hash from my roast leftovers and made hash turnovers with pie crust. DH adds ketchup, but I can't bring myself to put ketchup on pie crust!
Tonite might be split pea soup. It's a soup kind of day. And I love buttered toast with my pea soup.
Hope you all supping high tonite!

Not sure what will be for dinner, yet.
I have asked the lady for her ugly salad recipe, but haven't gotten it yet. I will have to find out which site she is in. You know smartphones can really come in handy. Instead of taking the time to write out the recipe, I have started taking a photo with my phone. Then I can write it out later, if I need to.

Good afternoon from cold, but semi sunny, hopefully getting warmer, SW. Pa.....
Big News, We have another baby....The 2nd egg hatched this morning around 7:00 and has already been fed by both parents...Just need to get the 3rd one hatched and we'll have a very full nest....I'm almost as excited about these babies as I get with our's.......
Well, question and answer time.....Hulushki (and I really do need to find out how it's spelled) is fried cabbage and noodles...Of course you need lots and lots of butter in your skillet when you fry the cabbage and make sure it doesn't burn...Cook the noodles and then mix it all together...Some people add onion, some add bacon but not me, I just add lots of salt....I could eat the whole thing myself....And the pirogies, I buy them, have never attempted making....
Becca, it is dough with different fillings, such as potato/cheese/onion or sauerkraut and some others but I stick with the potato/cheese and onion....There again, you need lots of butter and after they are thawed, I sauté them in the butter, sometimes adding onion slices but again, make sure they don't burn...And once again, I just eat my with salt (and maybe extra butter)...As you can see, very healthy, artery clogging food.....
Becca, when my son moved to N.C. no one there knew what pirogies were and when he'd come home, he'd load up and take them back....He always said, the people down there ate funny, lol.....
Certain times during the year, we have church groups that make home made pirogies and sell them. But, they really go fast....Not sure how I got hooked on these, they are I believe Polish, not Irish.....But, they are both darn good!
Now as far as our dinner, we'll have left over pizza....I love when Pizza Hut does the cooking......
Happy eating............

I don't know about dinner yet...Earl's brother, Pete stopped by for a visit with Earl and he's still here, so I wait...we had Mama's Grill for breakfast after church...maybe dinner?? If not, I have noodles mixed with spaghetti sauce and some Kiebalska sausage I can whip up pretty quick!
Becca, are your creamed potatoes the same as mashed potatoes???
Steak dinner is the most expensive thing on Mama's menu...and if you go on Monday night, they have a nice calm singer and a steak special..8 oz. filet mignon (sp?) or 10 oz. sirloin with two sides for 11.95!
Beautiful day...sunny and mid 50's!! In the 60's all next week, too. The Reds opening day is Monday...!!!
