SUPPER CLUB - Sun, SEPTEMBER 1st!

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Sep 01, 2013 3:37 am

September! already!! Don't forget to sign up for the monthly drawing!

CAROL - About 10 yrs ago we were working on remodeling our downstairs bathroom. It was a long project. Walls were gone and copper piping was everywhere. We had company for dinner. I heard that same sound you heard. DH went to investigate and found a fountain shooting up to the ceiling! He had to run clear down the driveway (1/10 mile) to shut the water off at the road, run back, and make an emergency repair. Made for strange evening's entertainment for our guests!

JO - congrats on the engatement! Fun to have an upcoming wedding in the family. Yes, we are getting a new puppy. We miss our Snickers so much. our supper just isn't the same without dog hair in it. This little guy is a tri-colored sheltie and only 5-1/2 weeks old. so we have to wait another few weeks to get him, but it gives us time to puppy proof the house. (If that's even possible!)

BECCA - sounds like quite a crowd coming to dinner! My folks used to have 'shell beans', which were probably pinto beans. They just let them mature in the garden and when they reached a certain plumpness, they simply pulled the plants out, hung them upside down in the basement and let them dry for a few months. When dry, we spread out sheets and then shook the dead plants over the sheets. This broke open the pods and the beans fell out onto the sheets. Then we'd shake and shake them to bring the flotsom and jetsom to the top. and the heavier beans stayed on the bottom. voila`! dried beans! (I buy mine at the store! - less work and less flotsom!)

JANA - thanks for good puppy wishes. Hope you didn't mind a little good-natured teasing yesterday! Glad to hear, though, that you got all that hard work done. I had to rest after reading about it!

IRISH - I'm tickled, too!! We do have a long list of about 15 possible names and if anyone suggests something we like, we add it on. then we'll see what Puppy has to say about it! "Yankee Doddle" is on the list - the "Doodle" being in honor of our Snickers, whose middle name was Doodle.

Today - I am making an honest to gosh Sunday chicken dinner!! Can you hear my DH's cheers? Going to brown the chicken and then let it simmer in the oven in a wine and mushroom sauce. There will be mashed potatoes and green beans, too! DH won't know what to do with his fork, he'll be so excited!

And you're all invited!! Becca, could you bring those apple pies, please!

OMG Mary!!! My mouth is watering with your dinner description!! Now NOTHING sounds good next to yours...ugh.

We just might have to go to Mama's now...cause I'm not up to cooking your fantastic meal.

Your new puppy sounds darling..

I buy Shelley Beans at the store...they are just green beans that are left in the garden until the beans are mature..Earl really likes them, too. When we grew them, we left them too long and ended up with just the beans..and they were used to plant a new crop the next year.

Well the company just left because baby Cadence was fussey .She is teething. So good to see her.She is the one that had heart surgery.Still tiny for 6 months. But adorable.

JOANNE & MARYz I buy the shelly beans in store too.I like my green beans I raise in garden.

MARYz I know your puppy will get lots of TLC.I am hooked if I see a puppy. That breed is a wonderful dog.Just enjoy it.

We had baked ham, mashed potatos, & green beans, pickles pies & cake.
Was fun for all.....Becca
