ideas for hand quilting
Here is an idea if any one is interested.. Winter of 2003 I was working on a quilt with leaf pattern and my husband died that winter. when I went to finish the quilt didn't know what I wanted to quilt on the borders. I went out side and took a leaf off a tree he had planted and took such good care of, (his pride and joy) traced the leaf on paper as a template and quilted a vine along the edge and had quilted the leaves on the vine.. This is my favorite quilt and on my bed.

Hi Quilter78...that sounds like a lovely remembrance for you. Isn't is special when we can incorporate something really personal into a quilt? Nobody else might notice but we do! Whether a design like you used, special fabric, or a label...it is a wonderful way to leave your mark on the world.

That is wonderful. I hope we get to see it someday.
The first quilt I made for my DS#1 I traced around his baby hand print and used that as the quilting in the border. Then I traced around his hand and used that to quilt the blocks.
