Good morning,

Hope everyone is warm today.

JANA - thank you for the kind words about my dino quilt (in Photos). JANA - we have the A-rex version. lol! And that kitty? We have his twins all over the house! All different colors. I am a cat collector. The other cat in the photo? He's just on the bottom shelf of a 5-shelf display rack that holds just my white cats. My cousin brought her DGD with her one day and kept her busy through our visit by telling her to count all the cats she could find! (But I have even more quilts!) Glad you are set for snow! lol! Best way to ensure it doesn't come your way!

LORI - I'm glad you got 5 hours of sleep, but I do get that you woke up fatigued. I bet your muscles are "guarding" even as you sleep. It's exhausting. Hope you can find some answers soon. Do you take any muscle relaxers? They seem to be the only thing that lets me sleep at all. And yes, we're not too cold here to walk outside if we bundle up. (33* this morning) But I'd like to ditch my cane if I can before I start walking along the road. No sidewalks here, just dirt, grass, and a lot of teenage drivers heading to the high school down the road. But I'll be out there in another couple weeks! Walking with the other Lori in my life. How was sewing at your friends? I would take handwork, too. One reason I don't go places to sew is all the packing, carrying, loading, and then doing it in reverse, which aggravates my back, plus it's time I could be sewing at home, spread out in my own space. But I do get the comraderie of going to friends or classes. I hope your son will be OK in the storm.

CHRISS - your fried cabbage and sausage dish sounded kind of good. I've done something similar, just using what's laying around the kitchen. I added chopped onion and apple, crossed my fingers, said a prayer, and voila - supper! You must be sitting on thousands of dollars in tools in your garage! I assume Richard has all the tools he thinks he needs? Is this cold weather system sweeping the nation affecting you? We are 33* here this morning and tomorrow's low will be 29*. So we're doing better than almost everyone else.

LOIS - nice save on those coupons! But we outdid you that same day with $25 saved in coupons. Freddies (our Kroger) sends us coupons every month, plus they have a double-sided page of sale items to pick up at the store. If you buy any of those items, the cashier scans the page and you get the sale price. Plus we get fuel points. Today is Costco day, but this is the week not much is on sale. But we only need about 4 things and they won't be on sale anyway. What weather is projected for you? Snow? Ice? Zero degrees?

MARY Q - well, it's never too late to start a list of quilts that you send to Viv, and you cross them off when they come home. Then you also have a list of your quilts in general. My mom called our shoes fast starts, too. But somehow my little sister and I were convinced that red tennies were the fastest fast starts! So we always got red - every summer. We had a big 18" snow here in 2018. Broke all records. We had to shovel a 100-ft path to the woods for Scottie where the snow wasn't so deep. lol! Hope you are staying warm enough! Good thing we're quilters! Glad you are finding a good home for some of your strips and scraps. I love making scrappy quilts, but don't have a lot of space to store the scraps!

TINA B - I bet I have WAAY more fabric than you do! You made me get up and go into my sewing room to count: I have 5 shelving units with 30" shelves, 20 shelves in all. Full of fabric. Plus 3 totes of larger cuts for backings. I went through it all two years ago to cull out undesirable fabrics. I pulled just 2. Plus I gave my SIL 3 totes full last year. But all the rest is MINE!! I kind of feel like Scrooge in his money counting house! And I bet I only have half what Mary Q has! And she doesn't even have half what her friend, Viv, has. So feel free to tell your grumpy DH about all of us!

DIANE - weather doesn't look good for you. I pray you keep your power. Do you have any alternative heat source? My SIL lives near Charlotte, NC. I've texted her but not heard back yet. Sorry about all the tests your DH has had to go through. Two of my brothers had the same thing. Reports were it wasn't fun.

FLO - Hoping all goes well with you through the storm. I didn't know Joe was with the DOT. Those guys that go out at night to clear roads are heroes!

JUDI - when is your bad weather to hit? Hope you stayed warm when you were out driving yesterday. Are you all ready to hunker down for a few days? I love staying home for days - until I am forced to! Then all I want is to GO! Smart choice to sit out the game today. And also to do any machine sewing sewing to prep your blocks so you at least have hand sewing to do if you lose power. I have a battery operated light that drapes around my neck so I can sew if I don't have other light - like in a power outage . . .

LYN - I'm sure you are busy preparing for weather and visiting Garry while you still can. Thinking of you.

VAL - hi!

Yesterday I walked my mile at the Y. Then went to chiro. Got a haircut. A little shorter than I wanted - remember the old pixie haircuts?? In two weeks it will be find. Then my "good" hip said it had had enough walking. Plus I was in new shoes all day which could have altered my gait and made my hip angry. Not to mention arthritis and a bone spur. So I'm back to using the cane, but for the other hip!! Double rats!! I hope today it eases up. I'm soo not ready for another surgery yet!

I did pull a few fabrics for Book Nook, my next quilt. The pattern, done as it shows, uses only four fabrics to make 12 book fronts. But I'm thinking I'll make them all different fabrics - so I can use up some of my smaller pieces. This quilt will be slow going, as everything is around here these days. But that's OK. There's no time limit. At least I don't think there is. I haven't told Autumn I'm making it yet. I figured I'd better wait and see if I got it finished.

I talked with Sue and Cindy yesterday evening. Sue made Eliz Hartman's puppies quilt for her grandson. Cindy is off quilting for a while. She's had kidney stones, ended up with surgery, and had a miserable few weeks. They are both hunkering down because of the weather. They will get cold, maybe some ice, possibly a little snow. They get together at least once a week to sew or shop. They live maybe 15 miles apart. And maybe 3 hours from LYN.

Supper is maybe pork fried rice and salad. Don't forget - the forum is going down tomorrow. Sunday is a great choice of days since maybe, unfortunately, some of our members will be without power anyway. Tomorrow is playoff Sunday! Go Hawks and go Broncos! We are rooting for a Seahawk/Bronco Super Bowl. My Colorado DBIL's team is Broncos. No matter the outcome of that game, our family wins!

Stay warm!!

Good morning
Here it is -7 WC -13
Church is holding fleece blanket tying at church this am. Not going, feel badly BUT at 76 I feel I shouldn’t be out driving in this. I have skipped water aerobics most of the week because of temps like these. It’s only 10 minutes but bringing all the stuff in this cold not for me. So will be tying a fleece blanket this morning here at home.
Rest of day sewing, have a top to complete, then three done this week. Will lay another one out tomorrow and sew on this weekend. Now DH happy and likes the tops, men can’t figure them out. Yes I must admit the fabric is not organized and pieces needed to be cut down, it’s not an excuse but everything takes time to do and I should have a system and dedicated room. Moving stuff creates a problem. To be solved another day. Need to comb the hairs, get coffee and get going.
All be safe in this crazy weather, so many affected this weekend. Prayers and hugs,
TinaB

TINA, I bet you are not the only one who stays home from water aerobics in this weather! And from any other activities! So stay home, do what makes you feel good, and do not feel guilty!! You do your part and more!

Good morning!

It's cold here, but I'm warmer than most of y'all! It's 19.

Not much planned here. Mostly stay home, except for one errand that is needed.

Little one is doing well. Kate is planning on breastfeeding him, but he's a lazy little boy. But they are persisting.

That's about it from here, stay safe and warm,

Hugs,
Jana

good sunny morning here in Myrtle beach area. (so far) I think we start getting this mess late tonight-ish but who knows. We have a generator and is set up to go if needed. I hope not We usually get cold weather for a few days each year, this time it is supposed to last almost a week. The plants and some trees will be damaged. Fingers crossed. I hope everyone is with power and no damage or falls. Black ice on the streets and walk ways are a hip and knees breaker. Stay home if possible. Tomorrow will be no posting because of the maint. here. So hope when we return all have made this thru with no problem.

28°, feel like temp 21°, AccuWeather says ice will start this morning.

MaryZ, Amara's quilt is very cute. Is it raw applique or turned? Good to push yourself some days, but don't wear out the old hip before you're ready for it to be replaced.

TinaB, That room where DH has boxes he isn't going through, do you have a garage they could be moved to? Or piled to one corner. I think you have been patient all enough and it's time to claim that room for your sewing space.

Hi to everyone, hope y'all are staying warm.

I wanted to get an earlier start yesterday, so didn't post. I had bought a tower heater and realized I had one in the garage, so I stopped at Walmart and returned it on the way to see Garry. I trimmed his 4 day beard so he should fine for a few days. I checked his hearing aids, and left batteries. One of the nurses said she would check them and replace batteries. I also left batteries for the neck massage pillow and swipes to clean his glasses. I know it's best to stay home, but thinking back, the last time we spent time apart was when I would fly to Colorado to take care of my parents. Last trip was March, 2020.

Thursday I put some diesel additive in the MH, to keep the diesel from gelling in the cold temps. Silly me didn't check the gauge and poured in the amount to treat 200 gallons. Then found out there's about 140 gallons in the tank. So then I got concerned and decided I needed to add diesel. I have two 5 gal containers and filled them. I had to put the front passenger slide in to get to the diesel door. That slide is easier to put in and since the MH is on the jacks and not at ride height, as it should be, I felt it was the safest. What a pain in the you know what. Those containers are hard to deal with and more so at the angle I had to hold them to get fuel in. Then it started drizzling, too. I got about 9 gallons in and wasn't looking forward to repeating this a few more times. I called Transwest tech, Bill, and he told me not to worry, I didn't overdose the diesel. Note to self, call Bill first next time.

So here I am, a whole day to do whatever. I have the fixings for a breakfast casserole, think I will half the recipe. There's cleaning and laundry, or going out to the Cabin and unpacking. I may do a little of all of it, bounce around like Chriss and MaryQ.

Have a sew good day.
Lyn

Oh, MaryQ, My eyes seem to be adjusting to the new glasses. If there's a problem when I go to cut fabric, I will put my old ones on.

Good morning everyone!!

Hope you are all doing fine. Here, it is very cold where I live in East part of Province of Québec. It is -8 F with wind chil factor of -22 F. Tomorrow will be -22 F and -33 F with wind chil factor. Welcome to all to the Great White North. And we are also expecting a snow storm. I guess I will stay inside.

Beside the cold weather, I am doing fine. I am still hand stitching my appliqué blocks forthe table runner. I work on it when my fingers are not too stiff. I will post a picture when it will be finished.

I do not post often, but know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers! Wishing you all a wonderful day full of sunshine in your heart!

Love & hugs

Good almost afternoon,

Well it's very cold outside but we have to go to pickup one script then I have to go pickup my coffee when I went to get it the other day they had no decaff so that will be today's adventure.
On another note I have to brag Olivia met her goal for the year she earned 100.000 for the salon so she will get some nice perks we are so proud of her I want to send flowers to her but will wait till everything calms down.
With the weather we about to receive almost a foot of snow and some ice also.
Well bill wants to get ready to go .
Will talk to everyone Monday.
Stay safe.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois
