Good morning,
Things are still on a small rollercoaster but we are managing fine.
Yesterday we went out and it wasn't a Dr appointment or the drugstore.
I went to Verizon to get my phone fixed then I got to go to hobby lobby for backing and backing.
Then went to the grocery store and got some stuff I was out of.
It's the little things that make me happy.
So today I have already started another be an elf this one will be for Olivia.
I don't know what's for dinner yet so that will have to wait.
Well that's my story.
Everyone have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Morning
Lyn, I have 4 other machines, all antiques that need work. Over the next year I will try to get one of them working!
I have not used baby yet. Came home to power failure. It's on today's list.
DS1 has a wisdom tooth that is giving him problems. In 2 weeks it will be pulled, but he needed a run of antibiotics first.
Today is grocery shopping..yuk

Good morning,
Yesterday we had mid 50's and sunny!
Sweet! Today - not so sweet, but not rainy either.
LYN - I've heard the same thing - tennis balls, with or without sox. Lay on them and adjust. Purrfect for SI joints. If you can do it, it helps. Glad you are "taking the scenic route" when visiting Garry. It is more soothing to the soul. And I think you could use lots of soul-soothing.
TINA - I was wondering where you were! thank you for all the caring and cyber hugs. Is life settling down for you now? Going to assume no progress was made on The Room over the holidays. Unless you got the kids in there to help.
LORI - maybe you can position those tennis balls and apply pressure to those knots. Have you ever tried chiropractic or massage? I even tried acupuncture, though it didn't help for more than a day or so.
LOIS - what's cookin' at your house today? So you started a third Elf quilt? How many do you plan to make, total? Gifts for next Christmas?
MARY Q = my sister had a hip replaced in Dec of 2024, and also has bad, not yet replaced knees. She also goes backward down staircase. So you're not so weird. Though, I do admit, if you're using my sister for a comparison to normalcy, you might be backing down the wrong staircase!
I do love that little pattern you did. I've made two similar to that - one was in BLOCK mag a few years ago that I did in white and florals, and one was another pattern Autumn saw and asked me to make for her called Chaos at the Courthouse. But she wanted it done in white and cool ocean colors rather than the chaotic colors used on the pattern. I've got my eye on a blue quilt, similar but different pattern, that is featured on the cover of the current issue of APQ magazine - it's called True Blue I might put it on my 2026 list.
JANA - those meds for Parkinson's can have some awful side-effects. And yet they are still better than not taking them. I know if Jim missed a dose, he would start feeling the effects within a couple of hours. Terry set an alarm so they would always be on time.
FLO - A bummer that your DS has to have his wisdom tooth pulled. Will they pull all of them at the same time or just that one? In my family, it's a genetic thing to not get wisdom teeth. At least not the women. Mom never had them, my sisters never did. I only got two. Lara didn't get them either. Just the women so far as I know. When is the hot water bath canning lesson happening? What will you can? Not quite the season for it right now.
JUDI - I know you had fun with Sophia yesterday but I bet you were tired by the time you got home! I admire her for her perseverance and diligence. And for realizing that handmade means the most. And I admire you for your patience in teaching her.
CHRISS - how was your day with Elliott? Did you get all the smooching in or will you have to go back for that?
VAL - Hope all is OK with you. I'm not really feeling up to having to come down there!
Yesterday Bill stored my walker away in the garage. In fact, everything but the cane is now in storage waiting for the second hip. I'm pushing for 5 laps this morning. Fingers crossed. Yesterday I did most of the supper prep in the morning and just let Bill finish it up come supper time. Then we went shopping for a birthday gift at J.Jill and a new lamp at Home Goods (same shopping area). After a rest at home, I finished cutting out next dinosaur. After 7 months here Lee And Lara left about 10:30, the first day of realizing their lifelong dream of being free of everything and exploring the country in their RV. They are only 2 hours south of us for a few weeks before going further south, and we will be taking some packages to them when they arrive here, but they are finally on their way!
Today - walking, reading, dinosaurs. We have some leftover chicken from yesterday (marinated in Yoshida's Marinade) so I might chop that up and make a Thai pizza for supper. Bill can toss a salad.
What kind of music do fishermen listen to? Something catchy.

Happy Hump Day
Snow squalls going on here right now. About 32 degrees so big flakes, winds and heavy snow kinda winter wonderland look from INSIDE. No plans going out today. Missing water aerobics DH has knee check up appt. Today will finish one top for tomorrow meeting, we will have 5 to do then. Will have to step up my game for months to come. Have some blankets to wash and a load of sheets then guest bedding done. Water aerobics and his laps I will try again to do treadmill, takes 4 good hours of the day, we have to travel about 25 minutes each way. Then lunch the afternoon then evening day over. No the Room has been forgotten, he is now working on taxes now so how do I change that. I just have to face it I or kids will have to get rid of it all.
I suggest changes and he always talks around it, says it’s a good idea and puts it off till later, we’re running out of laters each day is a gift. Makes me crazy.
Have the kitchen floor to wash then maybe sewing quilt tops.
Prayers to all facing much bigger challenges than mine.
Cyber hugs

Happy Hump day! Haven't felt up to par over the past few days. A bit more energy today. I did go yesterday for my eye dilation. She said everything is fine. I do have the cataracts but she does not recommend surgery at this time. She also added that spots of blurriness are not actually from the cataracts but from pieces of the gel in eyes clumping together. She said there is a surgery for it but it comes with a high degree of risk and is rarely done. So we just continue. Waiting for the new glasses to come.
I haven't made much progress on quilt making. Maybe tomorrow. I haven 't done any chores either so need to get to some of those. Mainly the bath and kitchen. I did get a good part of the binding on DGS quilt done, only 1 more side. I really need to make some progress on the diaper bag. Instructor wants me to get to where the handles go on by Feb class.
Oh Maryz we could have so much fun if you came down here. Chriss could come up, along with Lori. Jana is close enough to come too I think. We could head to the Napa Valley, maybe ride the wine train. Never know who you will meet on there. Many celebrities own/live in the area. We are waiting to hear the results of DBIL pet scan. I actually think that appointment is today.
Flo I have at least two machines that need work. I doubt I will ever use them again so haven't looked into it. I keep thinking I should but too many other things to think about.
Life is a bit boring right now so I really need to get up off this couch and get something productive done. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Good morning,
The sun finally made it over the mountains. The air here is so thick, you can chew it,. Our winter inversion that traps all the gunky air down in the valley.. there's aa definite line you can see at my house level.
Not much here. It's Crenda day. My house willbe shiny! I need to sign for my landscapers to come again too.
Well, I'm off to get dressed, vacuum up a broken ornament, only broke one this year, and get that blankity blank ironing done! So not in the mood.
Hugs,
Jana
Valerie - I'm not too far, just about 750 miles, a two day drive. LOL! And I don't do Donner in the snow season. !

A little warmer today, 66°, but will drop to 31° tonight. I might get the 3 outdoor plants out of the garage and give them some sun, then back inside.
MaryZ, I will pass on your joke.
Hey, have y'all heard about the cheese recall. Sam's Club brand is one of them. Please check it out, we don't want anyone getting sick.
If you pay estimated taxes tomorrow, make sure you have the envelope hand stamped. The government has changed the rules. If you just toss it in the mail, it could be 2 or 3 days before it gets a date stamp and then it will be late and you will be in trouble.
Jana, When I lived in West Jordan, 1985 - 1992, and the weather got that way, I would get the girls to school and then drive up to Park City to see the sunshine. I would just walk around, never bought anything because money was tight. But it kept my from going crazy. I don't miss that weather.
Today the Hospice Social Worker will be stopping at Garry's to talk to me.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Lyn

Good Morning Girls
Well, we are sure back in the deep freeze here this morning. Plenty of sunshine but we are going to get UP to about 17* No place I have to go, so I think I'll turn on the gas fireplace and just stay in!
Lois....Any day you can go to Hobby Lobby is a good day!! Not sure how your local HL does it, but every other week at the one here, fabric is on sale. I just never seem to hit that week!! Not that I need more fabric. Though one of these days I might have to make a HL run if I can't find backing pieces in my garage.
Flo... Am guessing you have power back on today. Hope you can get to play with Baby today. I saw the picture on Facebook and she sure is a cutie!!
Maryz...I found the Chaos at the Courthouse pattern, I bet that was so pretty in shades of blue. The walker is PUT AWAY!!! Wow that is great news!! Years ago I bought a simple walker when my knee was really bothering me, knock on wood, I haven't had to use it for a long time!!! But I'm keeping it just in case!!
Tinab... Sounds like your DH belongs to the "Procrastinators Club". Or as Scarlet O'Hara would say "I'll think about that tomorrow". Unfortunately, our tomorrows aren't promised to us.
Judi... Oh gosh, Sophia likes that Retro fabric? I should send you pictures of the retro fabric Katie was given. It's all funky different kinds of polyester knit! In a big box of stuff she found fabric and even a couple polyester dresses somebody had made! If she'd like some knit fabric, I'll grab it for her!!
Valerie... Glad you are feeling better today. My Gramma used to call that "feeling Punk" when she just didn't feel so hot. Seems like a lot of us old folks end up with cataracts. I had mine done about 9 years ago and it's been great. At the time I couldn't get the new eye lenses that cured all vision, so I don't need my glasses to drive, by man I sure can't see anything up close without my cheaters!
Jana.... Oh send me your ironing!! I love to iron!!!
Lyn... Hope all goes well with the hospice nurse today. I can't say enough good things about the hospice team my mom had and I hope you feel the same way about Garry's team.
My coffee is now cold so time to heat it up. Think I might layer and pin one of my smaller quilt tops today. Another little one from a Block magazine that was mostly baby size quilts. I made it with a layer cake of batiks I had and as luck would have it, I found a piece a backing that will fit!! I'd sure pat myself on the back if I could get that done today!!
Wishing you all a Wonderful Wednesday!

Good morning. It's going to be a wonderful day today.
Yesterday was Elliott Day. There was traffic and I arrived almost an hour later than planned. But, as a consolation, I stopped at a quilt shop in San Juan Batista and bought myself things I didn't need but wanted. Elliott has been given enough smooches from all of us to last him till next Thursday which is my next planned playdate with him.
Today I need to unclutter some rooms that have started to clutter up. I've had to move things around so that dad can replace windowsills which he will start on soon. My windows will be here by the first week in Feb, I'm so looking forward to that. I need to figure out at least temporary curtains while I figure out what I really want. After the windows the microwave shelf will be finished, and then we will see what dad has planned next.
Lois, glad you had a day to sort of play. It's nice to not have to be some place but instead, you get to go someplace.
Flo, Glad you got your machine back. How fun to restore antique machines.
Maryz, great news about your progress. when will the other hip get done? Aren't you glad that you only have two? Sorry the kids left, but glad they get to have their dreams realized.
Tina, the taxes can't take forever and hoping he gets back to the room purging. My husband was also a saver of everything. When I cleaned out the rooms in this house, I found more junk than you can even imagine. Ugh, men! ha ha. I'm going to sneak in a load of laundry when you aren't looking. Perhaps you will think it's yours and fold it for me?
Judi, what a fun day with Sophia. A girls day with grandma is a wonderful thing. My mouth watered when you said beans and ham with corn bread. Jerry also added fried potatoes to that meal. It was wonderful. Grandma always suggested brandy for a cold.
Valerie, I could use new glasses too. Mine are just scratched up, not sure how that happens but it always does. I don't think the anti scratch coating stuff works. Prayers for DBIL's scan, hope it shows improvement. I also need to give my kitchen a whirl, but not completely sure that will happen. Napa is an almost 3 hour drive from here. I'd have to ponder it.
Jana, yay for the sun coming up over the mountain. I see that definite line when I drive into town, greyish brown on top and clean under and over the strip. Smog, yuck. Hope Emma had a great birthday. Marilyn was born on 03/03/03
Lyn, hoping the Hospice meeting answers any questions you have and that it is very informative. What will Garry's lunch be today? Sad how awful the mail has gotten. And with all the paperless billing and statements it seems the post office would have less to handle. I rarely get mail and when I do it's mostly junk. And if I send anything it's usually a package and not mail. Prayers continue for you and Garry.
Maryq, my coffee is also cold. I make a 10 cup pot each day, this coffee maker has a two hour shut off and I usually have to turn it back on a few times to finish the pot. Last few times I was at HL I walked out empty handed. hope you find a treasure. Love the quilt you posted yesterday. MSQ has some great tutorials.
Lori, I sure hope the knots have left your shoulder. What is the next step in getting it fixed?
Today the plan for dinner is to make that Salisbury steak that I had planned to make yesterday, the meat was still frozen. I need to go buy some mushrooms for the gravy. I also saw a low carb recipe for enchiladas. Instead of tortillas use Poblano chilis. Make them like stuffed bell peppers. I'm going to try that too, but not today.
You girls have a wonderful day,
Chriss
