FRIDAY, Jan 9th
Good morning,
TINA B, we have flooding watches here, too. Not at our house per se, but all around West. WA. Some people have lost everything.
JANA - when my DB, Jim, was dx'd with Parkinson's, the dr said one simple test for it was to have him write a single line across a page. the handwriting of Parkinsons patients tended to get small and very cramped by the end of the line.
LYN, great photo of you and Garry. Love the shirts! Glad Minnie is feeling better. Food will always tell in a dog. I'm glad my dr didn't try that toe pushing trick to dx my blood clots! I was much happier with an ultra sound!
LORI - I also love ice cream w/ coffee. I'm really sorry you're in the same boat with me. Are you sure you don't have a blood clot, too? Sure sounds like we have similar symptoms.
CHRISS - the ottoman is cute. Good luck finding your fabrics. How big is it and what is it stuffed with? I haven't been to DL since Christmas of 2010.
JUDI - QOV quilt is all done? Now You can just settle back and hand stitch your JA while you wait for that hockey shirt to become available. Any other projects catching your eye?
LOIS - did you get a start on your Elf quilt? Seems like yesterday a lot of floors around here were getting washed.
MQ - Do you still have snow?
Yesterday was a full day. My appt with the NP went OK. No changes. I did get a spot more sleep last night, but was still up for the day by 2:30. I did get a dino head made. Maybe I'll do the rest of him today and start thinking about another dinosaur. I also made a beef stew, that was actually more like a soup. Maybe a "stewp"? Not much else cookin' here.
Sending good thoughts to all who need them, especially Lois & Bill, and Lyn & Garry.
Hugs!

Re: FRIDAY, Jan 9th
Good Morning Maryz, So your still not sleeping, A rule of thumb is your body needs a certain amount of sleep..say 8 hrs, if you get 2 hrs of sleep during the day and go to bed say 8pm by 2am you have actually had 8 hours sleep. this varies by the person but you get the idea. my cardiologist told me this years ago. Of course some folks only need 6 or7 hrs which adjusts the times...also a couple of adjustments for illness and medication will give you the picture. Hope this helps..it wont change anything but it will give you an idea why youare up in the middle of the night, working midnights.
Christmas ghosts have been gathered up and stowed I dont think there are anymore... I did some cleaning and then the dreaded W2s started coming in the mail...So I started sorting the tax papers ,That will be my chore this morning,,Its mostly getting rid of the papaers that have nothing to do with taxes and butting some order to the rest. I have a file box I stuff everything into and In folders but not very neatly. I have a giant pile to shred but I dont feeling like that today, But I will get some done...
Mostly I need to find supper and get that prepped. We have a hockey game tonight so no evening sewing,,But last night I got the QOV quilted and trimmed and ready for the guild lady to do the binding, We have a meeting at the end of January. my next project will be the graduation quilt..then nothing is planned as I want to work on the Jane quilt after that, I have no future quilts planned so I might pull out the embroidery garden quilt and work on that, there is always the yoyos and the hexis to fall back on if i get , bored.
Ok have a great day i still praying for all of you..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,

Re: FRIDAY, Jan 9th
Good sunny morning here.
I have been having problems with getting into sew in site every day. As the day goes it is nearly impossible. The little circle goes round and round and drives me nuts after a few minutes it just freezes up. So, today I was lucky so far.
Everything is going good here. All Christmas is finally packed and stored away. House looks very bare and very empty. UGH!!
Now back to UFO's but the list just never gets lower. I have a few qov's panels to work on. Just got back 2 from the laer and got the binding finished. Gave them to Jim and Joan (the original starters of our chapter) there is a big presentation in Feb. for 38 retirees. It will be a few hours from here. All will receive panels.
I think we only need 4 more to meet the number.
I have tried to keep up each day but with the delay of getting on, the day goes by and I think its to late to type.
Prayers for those in need.
Diane

Good morning!
My yard is white! Not much, just about 4 inches. The roads are clear, a good thing as I have some errands to run.
All of Christmas will be finally put away. Crenda, Emma and Baden will be out tonight and then again tomorrow afternoon. I have quite a bit already boxed up.. Emma has play practice in the morning. Emma is in the school production of Fiddler on the roof. This is a middle school play. Logan was asked to help train the tech crew, so he's part of this too. Logan has enlisted his brother Tanner and Matt too. Logan is junior in high school. Performance is in March.
Sarah is busy as a cat on a hot tin roof. Getting all th tax forms out by the end of the month. A huge job!
So not much else. Working on the baby's quilt and stuff. This morning's discussion is the operation of guns on a warship, how to aim, using trigonometry. And the ways a tin-can, a navy destroyer works. I get some very interesting lessons. Mr G served on a supply tanker in Vietnam and lastly on a destroyer, off the California coast. So I'm taught in ship's as well as trains.
Do fun stuff!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: FRIDAY, Jan 9th
Good morning, I think today is rest day. I went to the shop yesterday and worked with the "bag lady" to get started on this diaper bag. She is not in agreement with the way they attach the straps so I will work on the bag up until the straps and she will help me with those next month. Should be able to put the finishing touches on March 5th. I want to get everything in the mail by March 15. I wish she had more than 1 class a month so I could just put this thing behind me. She does teach through out the month but "finish it" is only one day. She really wants me to learn the by Annie method but I think I had to start with a smaller project. They do have 4 beginner projects being taught starting this month so I will think about it. I have so much unfinished stuff, I really should focus on those.
Jana Fiddler on the Roof is one of my favorites. Wish I could come see it. My DBIL was diagnosed in the same manner, Nothing definitive but he does better on the meds.
Lois some days are just boring. Sounds like you have a busy day today though. I really should do all those also but not today. Guess what, they will be there on Sunday. DH off tomorrow so we will likely do something. Monday is Mad Monday so Sunday is the day. DH at work so not in my way.
Diane several of us have been having issues with this site. Call customer service and speak to Jean. The site though has been slow. Sometimes if they reboot their end it will straighten up for a bit.
Judi interesting info on sleep. I feel like if I just slept a straight 24 hours I would feel wonderful. All those night shifts really messed up my sleeping. I think this will be one of my easiest tax years. SS only except the first 2.5 months and I have that information.
Maryz our rain is gone for a bit but now the cold sets in. No rain forecasted for next 10 days but won't be above 60 either. Yesterday it was wonderful in Vacaville. It was only 55 but full sun. Standing where the sun was shining was wonderful.
Lyn love the picture of you and Garry. That toe pushing trick is actually how in nursing school we were taught to test for blood blots. It's called a + Homen's sign. I still do that to myself sometimes just to be sure all is well. I am so happy to hear that Minnie was willing to sit with Garry for a bit. It sounds like she is very confused with the situation and not sure what to do.
Chriss similar questions to Maryz's. I have seen that pattern but never could figure out how they did it.
Tinab sounds like some excitement at your house. I used to go to water aerobics before Covid but of course they were all shut down. Haven't found any recent classes to attend.
Well I think I will go make the bed and then figure out my chill day. Have a great day everyone.

Re: FRIDAY, Jan 9th
Good Morning Girls
Oh my gosh, Is it really Friday already!! Where did this week go!! I hate that the days go by so fast, tho, the upside to it, Spring will be here soon!
Maryz... Oh yes, we still have snow. Quite a bit has melted over the last couple days, and our roads are nice and dry. There's quite a mound of snow at the end of my parking lot from where the snow plow pushes it all. It will be a long time before that all melts. Is the pain starting to subside a bit? I used to make "stewp" all the time!! DH liked beef soup thickened a bit with potato flakes--not my favorite, but oh well!
Judi... Yup. time to tally up and pay the Piper!!
Ken may want to rethink his retirement if you end up having to pay IN this year!! Does Michigan have income taxes? Every once in a while I think about moving to a state without income tax (and I'd love to leave Minnesota behind--before it implodes!) Do you have a shredder? Every once in a while I go through papers and run them all through the shredder. Why do I need to keep every EOB from the insurance company!
Diane.... I think UFO's some how magically reproduce in the closet. I got so organized last week getting things all lined up, then remembered 4 or 5 projects (half started) in the closet that I totally forgot about!! I don't know about you, but I am certainly not one of those people who start one project, completely finish it, before starting another!
Lois... Don't you love those days with nothing on the calendar!!! Hope all goes well for Bill. Has he been on dialysis before? I've heard that now some dialysis can be done at home. My Bff's DH has stage 4 Kidney disease but hasn't had to do dialysis yet.
Jana... Did I ever ask you if Mr. G has heard of the USS CARON? Probably, as the minute I meet somebody that was in the Navy back in the day, I ask it. It Was a frigate (I think) but named after a cousin of mine. My Grandmother's maiden name was Caron. Did you say Mr, G went to Neurologist the other day? How did that go? When my Dex went to one of his first appointments, they gave him 5 things- waited a while, then asked him to repeat--he could only remember 2. He was diagnosed with Parkinsons about 2 years ago.
LOVE Fiddler on the Roof!! I think I have a CD of it somewhere!! We had a song or two from it sung at our wedding in 1973!
Valerie.... So good to know that there are others out there like me with several projects going at the same time. Yesterday I worked on one project in my sewing room until about 4:00, then came out to the kitchen and worked on another one--just cutting up some squares, the sewed them on the featherweight on my dining room table. Now it's a toss up on which project I'll work on today!
Chriss... What kind of colors are you looking for for your ottoman? I will check my stash for you!!! That looks like a really fun project. You are going to Disneyland!!! I'll have to go back and find the details! What Fun that will be!
Lyn,, Great to see a picture of you and Garry!! You guys continue to be in my thoughts and prayers!
Time to get in gear, refill the coffee mug and get busy! With luck I'll get borders on the quilt top (from the Kit Viv gave me!) after that, who knows what trouble I will get into!
Wishing you all a Fabulous Friday!

Re: FRIDAY, Jan 9th
Good morning. Here we go, another gorgeous but chilly day. It's a good life.
One of my devotions this morning was about the storm coming up and how the boat won't sink with Jesus in it, and the storm won't last forever. I'm grateful for that
Today my plan is to go into town. I have Amazon returns and need some groceries. Tomorrow is my ottoman class and Tuesday is go see Elliott day. I think I will make some Salisbury steak and take it to the kids for the Tuesday dinner.
Here's a funny. I sent Marilyn my kitchen curtains and in the box I added a travel sized iron incase they wrinkled. I told her yesterday to fold some bath towels on a table to use as an ironing board. She thanked me and told me she wondered how she was going to use it because she had never used an iron before.
Lori, have a groovy day
Lyn, so glad Minnie is better. Yep, Sleepless in Seattle is a great movie for sure. I love Meg Ryan and Julia Roberts too.
Jana, glad you are happy with the neuro report. I didn't know there was an actual med that helped men bend, maybe now he will find what he is looking for in the fridge without asking you where it is.
Maryz, glad you got a little more sleep. the ottoman is stuffed with foam and high loft batting. I have to find the fabric today because the class is tomorrow. DL is just in the talking stages now. I'm hopeful but will wait and see. Elliott is young and it's expensive.
Judi, I also have a manilla envelope with tax stuff inside. I haven't gotten much in the mail yet but am hoping soon. I like to get the taxes done as soon as I can. I shred as I go. I wonder why we shred. Do people really go through the garbage to find our information? My garbage is taken to the dump and put in a huge pile with other peoples trash. But I still shred. I have always thought if I nap during the day I won't sleep at night. Except for after my surgery I have never been a napper.
Diane, sometimes this site is slow. if logging completely off and then back on doesn't help you might need to call customer service at QIAD. It's never too late to type your post here, keep us updated girl.
Lois, your story is anything but boring. Dang, you got the burst of energy I have been looking for. Hope Bill's doctor can fix him easily.
Valerie, happy rest day. Sounds like this diaper bag is quite a project. Lois has made some great diaper bags, I was going to make one for my DIL but she didn't want one. The ottoman pattern will be way outside of my box. Hoping it at least resembles a footstool. My taxes are also very easy, and I rarely qualify for more than the standard deduction.
Maryq, yep, there's always an upside. Neurologists seem to do the 3 words and see if they can be remembered after a conversation. The other thing they do is have a person draw the face of a clock and draw the hands to show a specific time. The current generation has likely not ever used a clock with hands. My class is tomorrow. I did find some pretty paisley fabric in my totes and if I can find some fabric to go with it I will use it. I'm torn between bright and colorful or more subdued fabric. I do see I have a package that is supposed to be here on Tuesday, I may have to have the post office hold it until Wednesday, I'm watching the tracking. My son mentioned going to DL this year, no set in stone plans yet, but it's how they roll.
Time to get moving. I think hamburger salad will be dinner.
You all have a super duper day
Chriss.

Re: FRIDAY, Jan 9th
Maryq, time does go by fast. My theory is that as we age we slow down and thing take longer. Therefore creating the illusion of time going by faster. Pretty soon we'll just blink and the day will be gone. lol
Chriss, funny that Marilyn never used an iron before. Similar to young people today wouldn't know how to use a map. I was taking to a young man about the location of a business and asked him if it was east or west of the freeway. He looked at my like I was speaking a foreign language. I told him to use the freeway as his directional marker. He was still confused. If technology gets taken out we're in big trouble.
Valerie, why doesn't she like the way the put the strap on? It might not be her way, but I'm sure it works. A rest day is always good.
Jana, Bill was on the USS Bagley which was a destroyer as well. He commissioned the ship so we have a plank. He was also able to go to the decommissioning of the ship in San Diego years ago. He took the boys and they even allowed him on the vessel since he was a plank owner. The boys were quite impressed.
Lois, I need to clean the bath today too.
Diane, glad you made it to the party today.
Judi, I bet you find one more Christmas thing in a few day.
Maryz, I did sleep a little better last night too. I like your new word "stewp."
It's another cool day but at least the sun is shinning. I need to hit the shower and do some errands. I did work on my Twisty pattern yesterday. It's nice to be sewing again. It's supposed to warm up next week a bit. We usually have a week of beautiful warm weather mid to end of January, then winter returns. I'm looking forward to some warm. Dinner will be Italian sausage with pasta and veggies.
Have a lovely day.

Re: FRIDAY, Jan 9th
Lori the strap is placed under the binding which means when you are holding the bag with anything in it, it is pulling the binding loose. Hope that makes sense.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!
