Good morning,
TINA hard at work making memories, I see!
LORI - we had some fireworks on NYE but not many. Thank goodness. Glad you were able to get some sleep.
CHRISS - glad you live on a hill without flooding. In the past I've seen the pastures in your area full of standing water after days of rain. . I think Cindy took that class some years back and made that ottoman or tuffet she called it. It's not a pillow situation here that is keeping me awake. I wish it were. It's a pain situation. Opposite leg than my surgery. WAAAY worse than the surgical pain ever thought of being. It's a 7/8 on a scale of 1-10. Stemming from SI joint I believe. It shoots from my low back through my hip/thigh, and down to my lower leg. I've tried 6 different pain meds and nothing touches it. Not even oxycodone. Plus I've tried five different topical pain relievers. Nothing works. I can't lay in one position but am tossing and turning. Way worse at night. This has happened to me before last May, which started me down this orthopedic path. I think it's going to take another 1 or 2 cortisone shots in my back.
MQ you bet I'll be discussing with MD, but hard with holidays. Most are out of the office until next Monday. What kind of cards did you play on NYE?
JANA - got snow? Are you chomping everything in sight?
LYN - sorry Minnie ism't taking to visiting Garry. Lots of things to overwhelm a little dog.
JUDI - Did you get a start on your take down? I haven't put away so much as a stand of tinsel. I guess I'm going to have to wait until I'm feeling better.
DENISE - Glad you are keeping up with your sewing. Your handwork is so exquisite.
FLO On well then, I guess you'll be wanting those buttons and button holes! Have you recaptured your buttonhole skills?
VAL - you are brave to tackle a diaperbag! It's beyond my present skills.
I didn't sew my last four CW's yesterday. Was just too tired from lack of sleep. But I did sleep off/on most of the day up until 3pm, taking time off to go to my massage which is just across the highway from my. Wish those naps would happen at night. I will try to get into a doctor today.
Have a good one!

Morning All
Maryz, problem not my skills but machine. Timing off in my machine. The left side of buttonhole perfect, but right no zigzag and no top or bottom bars. Going to call repair shops in Springfield for a quote this morning. Until then I posted puc of dress on our Facebook page if anyone has ideas for closures other than buttons. Dress supposed to be a button down.
Other than calling repair shops, not sure what today will bring.
Maryz, I hope your pain eases. Joe still has pain since hip replacement 10 yrs ago, but it's more manageable he says.

FLO - maybe you could use snaps, but cover them with buttons?

Good morning, I was up with Ken and I am starting the upstairs take down. My motto is no room without a Christmas. So each room has something that needs to be taken downstairs.. I go slow and get sidetracked easy but it will get done,,,today and all weekend,
Tonight a hockey game, We have been without our Liam fix for 2 weeks...No hockey and no visits,,,Sadly he has a social life and it is too cold to work on the truck so we dont see him. Ken texts him every day but I know he misses the visits and him at our table deciding how much of our money he can spend on the truck. They grow up and we dont,,,,we stay the same...
Maryz I am so sorry for your pain..Having your hip fixed only solved one of your problems...Now you will have to work on your other,,,Seems when we fll apart we do it in spades...Hoping the Drs can find solutions...Having lower back issues I feel for you...once the pain starts theres no comfortble place to lay.,,
Well I need to get dressed and combed and presentable...Decide whats for supper and get that started. I need to start quilting the QOV which is loaded and waiting,
Yesterday was a wash,,, I didnt feel very good and had a sinus headache all day, I got a little sewing but not much...I having a time with the pieces of the next blocks...narrow pieces I cannot seem to get turned and stitched with out trouble...My sharp points are not sharp enough,,,they are lumpy and I cannot seem to get them sharp/// funny they wont show under other pieces but the bulk is there,,,I will work on them more tomorrow may have to redo a few pieces..
hope you have a great day, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Going to be a very warm day here.
MaryZ, I'm sorry you are hurting. Sending prayers that you get into the Dr today.
Flo, MaryZ has a good idea. Use snaps and button on top for looks. Of course you could go Amish and use little straight pins. I think they must say, Ouch, a lot.
Well the New Year has started like the old year ended.

Yesterday before I left to see Garry, I went out to the MH to turn off the heat, we'd had some cold nights. I found the MH wasn't on shore power, it was on the inverter/batteries. It hadn't been that way long because batteries were 12.3 volts. The control panel said, HI AC VOLTAGE. I went out and unplugged the cord, then plugged back in. I heard the transfer switch/surge protector thump on and a second later it thumped off. The error message came up again. I unplugged it and hoped the batteries would stay up until I got back. The only thing running is the fridge.
Garry was not doing well yesterday. I could only get him to eat a few bites for lunch. The ladies said he was the same at breakfast, they couldn't get him to wake up. It had warmed up, so they thought some fresh air would help. I took him outside for about a half hour, but he still slept. I took him back to his room and sat with him for some time. I text the 24/7 tech at Transwest, Bill, and ask him about the MH. He gave me a couple suggestions. So, I headed home. I tried what Bill said and got the shore power on. I set up a camera to watch the control panel and thought all was good. NOT, I looked at the camera, on my phone, about an hour later and it was back on batteries. I gave up, started the generator and emptied the fridge as a precaution. I can't get one more thing into the house fridge now, it's very full. I will run the generator to keep those 18 new batteries charged, that we'd bought 7 months back.
It's after 8 in Colorado now, so time to call Bill and see what else to try. I also need to call a neighbor down the street and asked if they had any trouble with power yesterday. My neighbors houses on both sides face east and they get power off Deer Dr. My house faces west and my power comes off Ranch Road 2233.
Hope y'all have a good day.
Lyn

Good morning!
Just 9ur normal gray, useless clouds. No rain or snow. We sure need some. A drip or drizzle, not much. We're fogged in. Barely see across the street. So quiet with the fog absorbing al the sounds.
I know most of y'all aren't football fans, but there were some awesome games played yesterday! The underdogs were victorious! I'm tired of the underhanded ways the same teams, no matter who has better records, always get in the playoffs. Well, most of them have lost and are out. Just one more needs to lose and then there will be a fun championship to watch. I won't even get started on the network coverage of the Rose Parade! I've loved watching the parade all my life, but you could see that the network picked and chose which floats were shown. Uggh!
Ethan had fun tuning 14! We've now been here for that many years. We moved and left California, just 2 weeks before Ethan arrived. Next birthday is Daniel tomorrow. He turns 45! Oh my, I'm not old enough for that!
Sarah will be down to download the embroidery programs today. I'll start on those. I want to have the quilt done by the baby shower, which is the 24th.
New Year, same ol uglies, oh well.......
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning. It's going to be a dry day but will start raining tonight and continue through the weekend. In any event, it will be a wonderful day.
I have a friend who won the big prize in a local shop hop. $75 gift card to each of the stores, I think there were 5. One of the stores, we found out, is closing so she and I went to that store so she could spend her loot. I was hoping to find a jelly roll and fat quarters to go with it to make my ottoman next saturday, but no such luck. I did find some fq's. The line to get inside took about an hour. I don't need to go back.
Lois, where are you?
Lori, how were the enchiladas? I love them the next day, seems like there are just some meals that are really better on day two, not sure why. I'm not sure I want an ottoman either, but I do need to make myself do things, so I'm starting with this.
Carol, sounds like a perfect NYE to me, cozy, peaceful and calm.
Maryz, wow, that's a lot of pain. And a lot of tries to make it better. I was going to ask about a heating pad but it seems you are past that point. hoping it gets treated and fixed soon.
Judi, you are going to be busy all weekend taking Christmas down, How many rooms do you have to decorate? I am picturing a big house with upstairs and a basement. Sorry that Ken's buddy is growing up. Is Liam the youngest.?
Lyn, Lots of stuff to deal with in your life right now. Having stuff happen all at once isn't fun. I will keep you in my prayers. I'm hoping that the motor home fix is really simple.
Jana, glad Ethan had a good birthday. Our sky is gray too but no fog today, the sun is trying to burn through the gray.
Maryq, you will be along soon. what is on your todo list today?
Valerie, I think you will be along soon too, what are your plans today?
I have a few things to do around here but first, I need to have some breakfast.
Dinner will be the rest of the nachos made with pork rinds. I have all the stuff ready to assemble.
You all have a great day,
Chriss

Good Morning Girls
Yes, I'm here... Slept in a little---you know the "I just want 5 more minutes" than turned into another hour and 1/2! But I'm up, showered and dressed now, with one load of laundry already in. The "tornado damage" in my living is still visible, so for sure that's what I'll be doing today! Damage Control!
Maryz.. I wonder if you non-surgery hip/leg is reacting to your new hip being correctly lined up and not happy about the change. Kind of like one side being out of whack and the rest of your body adjusting, now doesn't like being IN whack---know what I mean? I so hope you can get ahold of medical personnel soon for some relief, not only for the pain, but also for the sleep situation. We played a game called 5 Crowns. It's easy and fun and actually goes pretty quickly. Gary is able to play along and I think he enjoy having company. After one game, we girls just mostly talked. Fun small world fact: Peggy and I graduated from same high school ( I may have mentioned before) but she graduated in '66 with my brother. I went to elementary school with her cousin who lived down the street from me and who I did graduate with. AND come to find out, She and I both had babies on the same day!! My Shawn and her son Jeremy were born on the same day 11-6-75--different hospitals. And Peggy used to sew quilts! Hand arthritis now so she doesn't sew any more.
Flo,.... I agree.. Snaps.. Hidden with a pretty button. Have you ever used Kam Snaps? I have a ton and use them all the time on bibs I make for babies and various other things. Even old fashioned plain old snap would be easy to do. I have one old shirt in my closet with snaps and I love it... as my fingers get stiffer the older I get, I'm loving snaps!!
Judi... Having seen pictures of your decorations from years past, I can only imagine how long it takes you to un-do everything. Does Ken hel pack up stuff or is he just handy to put things in the right places to store? Can you store everything in the House, rather than in a garage? I think that's part of the reason I don't do the fusible and turn method of applique and just do Heat & Bond... I'm afraid of not getting the points out right. I wish you good luck!

Lyn... Oh my goodness... You sure don't need one more thing to deal with!! Now the Motor Home Battery is going? I'm not sure how all the works, but I know if I explained it to my brother with the Airstream he'd know exactly what you're talking about. As I putter around the house today, cleaning up various messes--it's such good prayer time-- you and Garry are at the top of my list.
Jana.... Not much of a football fan here, but my BFF is a HUGE Kansas City Chiefs fan!! OMG... We've been friends since we were 13 years old and I only found out about a year ago that she is a football fan!! My sons are Viking's fans for sure. I used to like to watch the Half Time Show of the Super Bowl game, but they have been so bad the last few years. Doesn't sound like this year's show is one I'll be watching.
Chriss... You need a JELLY ROLL!! Have I got a deal for you!!! I bet you are looking for specific colors, but who knows, I might have just what you are looking for!! Give me an idea of colors and I'll check my stash! I've matched up about 8 jelly rolls to patterns, but still have quite a few left. On today's To Do list: Laundry, clean kitchen, clear off dining room table, cut up some scraps, finish cleaning sewing room. Drink Lots of coffee!!
Lois.... Happy New Year... Hope you can peek in soon. We miss you!
Lori,... How were your enchiladas.? That's one thing I don't think I've ever made! I was thinking about tacos for supper tonight but I might have to look up an enchilada recipe. I know I have can of tomatoes in the house.
Carol.... Do you put ham and bacon in your bean soup? While I'm not much into beans, I found a recipe for bean and bacon soup that is fabulous!!! Though I do have to soak the beans for a couple days!
While I do enjoy sleeping a little extra in the morning, I'm looking at the clock now and 1/2 the day is gone! So I'll go refill my coffee mug and get busy. It's just hard to know where exactly to start! Flip of a coin I guess!!
Wishing you all a Fabulous Friday!!

Good almost afternoon
This morning I got the binding made for DGS quilt and started sewing it on. I had a phone visit with the PT at Kaiser. He sent me 3 exercised to do, 2 are on the floor, not sure that is going to work for me. I tried it and I just can breathe flat like that. I might give it try on the bed. Also got my bath and hair cleaned. I am thinking it is now nap time.
Maryz it was not until the prednisone decreased the pain in my back and left hip that I realized the right hip hurts also. I guess the other pain was so severe I just didn't realize it was a separate pain. Bodies are weird.
Maryq I have heard of Kam Snaps but have never used them or even watched anyone use them. Are they pretty easy. Funny, my Great Grands grandfather is a huge Chiefs fan. Odd, though, he hasn't much to say this year!
Chriss not sure I would have waited in that line. While I really like a deal, I tell myself I don't need it bad enough to stand in line. I had plans to go to Dixon today to see about a backing but am putting it off until tomorrow.
Jana just a couple more days and niners take the field. I know I should not pray for sports teams to win, but by golly, I need the excitment!
Lyn I wish we would warm up and dry out a bit. We are about 60 and dry for now but rain will return about dinner time. It just feels cold and damp int he house. DH has a roast in the over so hoping that will make a difference. It sure sounds like Murphy's law has taken over there in Texas. Praying for you both. Wish I could come help or do something.
Judi I used to decorate like that but things have changed. Life has taken different avenues and I rarely decorate anymore. I think today is going to be a wash for me. I am just feeling really tired.
Flo those dreaded machine issues! I am sure you will figure it out though.
Maryz your pain feels like mine. The Prednisone helped while I was on it but it is coming back now that I stopped the drug. I have not had cortisone and am trying to get by without it. I take Ibu 400mg and Tylenol 1000 mg in the AM. Then Ibu 200mg and Tylenol 1000 mg at bedtime. Dr said don't take anything else. He offered me muscle relaxers but I turned them done. I don't like that drugged feeling. My DH volunteered me for this diaper bag, I am hoping it turns out usable.
Well I have to lay down a bit. Sleep or not, gotta stretch out the hip. Have a wonderful rest of your day everyone.

Finally got here to share before we pack them away.
