Good morning I am up dressed and doing chores the house needs cleaning before the big feast tomorrow. I have laundry going and am in the process of making banana bread for the neighbors. We will be taking our elderly neighbors out for supper tonight as we do every year. they are good neighbors and June always calls to see how we are...and I call them too. We decided we didnt need stuff for Christmas and supper out together was a good gift. It is their years to decide where they want to go...so it will be a surprise for us too..
Hope your day is filled with surprises of the good kind,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,
I had a great sleep interrupted only once by a fussy dog that was scared of the smoke detector outside our bedroom door that had started chirping. Low battery. The very same battery that I had asked Mr. Bill to change last month, but he refused, insisting it was still good. Well, it was good until midnight last night when the dog informed me it was no longer good. And so he ended up changing it in the middle of the night instead of the middle of a sunny November morning. His choice! The good news here is dog and I slept until 4:30! Yay! I was getting tired of 3:30.
TINA B - thank you!
Ironically, your card came back to me yesterday - I put 303 instead of 3003 on your address. Doing a forehead slap here. I'll resend and we'll call it a New Year's card instead!
LORI - poor Jack. Getting older isn't for wimps. I'm happy he was able to walk. They say if you have a fever, it's not a cold. Fevers go with flu. Most Covid cases also have fever. It would only be fair if you shared something with your hubby now. How about hot flashes for him for every day you were sick?!
VAL - It seems every one I know these days are either getting new hips or are being treated for SI joint issues. Colonoscopies are just a bonus!
If it makes you feel any better, I rec'd a message from My Chart last week saying I was now due for one, too. Bill and I just laughed!
JUDI - I would say you have had excellent service from Guggenheim. I don't think I've ever ordered anything from them, but it's good advice to go directly to the company and bypass FB and Amazon when ordering. I've been burned buying things that way instead of just getting them from the company itself. Warning - Do not buy Yankee candles from internet or FB! They have little to no scent. Go to the company.
CHRISS - did you get some photos of Elliott unwrapping his gifts? Precious! No, not using cane much yet for real walking. But I can now leave the cumbersome walker in the hall and use the cane in the upstairs bathroom. The room is so small I can use vanity and sink as handholds with the walker. So - one more little victory. Does Marilyn have any plans to come home for a visit over the holidays? Is she still with the same boyfriend?
JANA - kudos to Aaron for conquering the turkey and noodles. And I also got out all my ceramic Nativties to paint, but that simply ain't happening. It needs to be all put away for now, too. It's all on a card table and shoved into my quilting room. Sigh. Thanks for those directions. I'm sure I'll remember them for the next time we're rolling through Utah! lol! I may have to contact you for more details if/when that happens.
MARY Q - How did the zipper project go on the wool pants. It's been so long since I've done zippers, I think I'd pay to take them to a cleaners that does alterations! And yes - let's plan a party at your house! How about NYE or NY evening? It will be fun!
LOIS - how is your hubby doing? And your foot? Is this your quilt? https://www.fatquartershop.com/be-an-el ... 20Products
JUDI - nice that you are so prepared even for an extra guest! She will be very appreciative, I'm sure. So, by hoping to "have it finished" by end of the year, I hope you meant just that block you are working on and not the entire thing! Good gosh! How do you work on it? On your lap? In a hoop? Sitting at a table? I think dinner out with your neighbors is such a nice idea. I sent both my sisters gift cards for a very nice dinner out - on us. And for Gene and Terry's wedding my sisters and I gave them gift cards to 6 different restaurants in North Pole and FBX instead of more stuff. Enjoy your supper out with good friends!
Yesterday I made more CW progress. Today I might have the bottom portion all finished. Still have a little work on the top section before I can join them. I made 3 visits to my sewing room. One to pull fabrics for my new project - small version of Eliz Hartman's Dinosaur quilt. One visit to select and cut the fabrics to use on 6 little fern blocks. The last visit was to sew the first fern - 3-1/2" square. A very little bit but it was real sewing!! I also emptied the dishwasher and set the coffee for this morning. I am a dynamo!! And last night we went looking at Christmas lights. There was a lighting contest around town and the addresses were on line. So we hunted them all down in the dark and rain. L&L went with us and in fact, Lee drove our car and we sat in back seat. There were 7 houses decorated to the hilt that were in the contest. We all made our choices and when we got home went on-line to vote. But they wanted a lot of personal info to insure we were 'honest voters'. For a local holiday lighting contest! So we decided we didn't need to vote after all - we just enjoyed all the lights! But I'll be curious to see which house wins.
Today - CW's, Dinosaurs, exercises, and a Christmas movie with the kids this evening. They really want us to see Disney's Christmas Carol. Not the Mickey Mouse version (which, to be honest, I'd rather watch. Little known fact - I love cartoons!). I don't know what's for supper yet. I guess we need to discuss it. But I'm going to vote for oven baked pork chops, potatoes, veggie. I like to make a sauce for the chops, but we'll see how far Bill's culinary adventuresome spirit takes us. I do have instant gravy mix.
Wishing everyone a happy Christmas Eve Eve!

Good morning, I am up, fed and also trying to do chores. Not dressed yet though. My doctor sent me an email last night with the final xray results. They are as follows:
L4/L5 show anterolisthesis which means one disc has slipped forward onto the other one. Decreased disc space L4/L5 which I think is where the disc was removed 40 years ago. L5/S1 has facet Arthropathy which is a common age related arthritis. Joint narrowing in the left hip which means arthritis but not enough to need a new joint. He thinks the intense pain is from the SI joint. The back is just contributing to that. So treatment will be IBU 200 mg three times a day, Prednisone for 5 days and start PT next month. He has given me some exercises to try in the meantime.
Thought I was done my Christmas shopping. Oops, I have got to stop thinking! DD called me yesterday, she is in Santa Cruz working and has to work through Christmas. Her husband does not have a working vehicle at the time and can I shop for them for the kids. So after Mad Monday, off to Walmart for more shopping. I will have to go to Target tonight to finish. I would have preferred to do it all last night but I just couldn't stand anymore. The pain was so severe I just wanted to cry. But I sucked it up and didn't.
So it looks like we are going to run into snow but we have to get there and we don't have a sleigh like Santa. As long as 80 stays open we can make it with the four wheel drive. Might take a long time but we have to be there. We are apparently bringing Christmas for the little ones.
As for the rest of my life, today I really hope to finish the last of DG quilt. I only have the last borders to put on. If I do I will post a picture. Somehow I have to get the rest of the binding on Xavier's quilt. Might have to do that in the truck on the way up. I thought I had two evenings to get it done but not now.
Maryz I actually slept a straight at least 6 or 7 hours last night. I never do that! I must have been tired.
Tinab I received your card yesterday, it is quite pretty. I always love to receive cards.
I did finally get an email from Guggenhein. He doesn't know what happened to my order but said he will send out another one. If I don't get a tracking number via email within 72 hours I am to send it another email.
Well I would love to stay and talk but I have to get chores finished before I go to Open Sew. A friend I sew with needs some white fabric so I have to go round that up too. I hope you all have a great day. I will try to check in tomorrow. Depends on my timelines.

It's already 70° out. I see much of the center of the country will see high temps for Christmas.
Garry enjoyed about a cup of Eggnog. On Sunday I took Clamoto juice which is used in Caesars, with vodka. He's been drinking the juice with no vodka. He had a cup full and seemed to enjoy it. I will take Eggnog today.
I put our little Christmas tree up on a little patio table, covered with a tree skirt I embroidered when I first got my machine 20 years ago. The tree has lights at the end of the branches, and I added 4 little light sets I bought at Walmart that run on batteries. I leave the tree plugged in and turn on the other lights in the evening.
Yesterday I had plans to have lunch with friends, the Jasek's and exchange gifts. I called the plumber and he could be to the house at 2. I called the appliance repair place and they come to Sunrise Beach on Tuesday and Thursday. They are booked today, so I have to wait until next Tuesday. Good thing I have an extra closet of clothes in the MH. Anyway, had a nice lunch, then Jasek's followed me to see Garry. That was a very short visit. They were feeding him lunch in the dining room. I had to get back to the house. MaryZ, Carol says, Hi to you.
The plumber, Mark, and his helper had to cut sheetrock around washing machine water/drain box to replace it. He also put new hoses on. I remembered there's a problem with the guest bathroom toilet and he brought parts for that, too. I was a little surprised when he told me what the cost was going to be, but it all has to be fixed. I asked him if there was a discount for Cash payment and he knocked $70 off. I stash more than fabric. But, that $70 and a bunch more will be paid out. I needed to run to Kingsland for a few groceries and when I got in the Jeep, which is parked in front of the garage door, something didn't look right. It was just at dusk and the lights had come on. Got out and the dang passenger headlights have now gone out.

More money out the door. I know God doesn't give us more than we can handle, but right now I wish he'd spread it out.
I will spend lunch and the afternoon with Garry, then get back before dark. I will stop at Jeep and have them order the light. That should be easy since they did the driver side only a few weeks back.
I was talking to Amanda last night about Christmas dinner. She will probably be along. Maddox has cousins that come to his paternal grandparents in Hays, so he will be there. Amanda mentioned buying Chicken Pot Pies and I had just bought 2. So, Amanda, Kaylyn and I will be dining together on Pot Pies, but in different states.
I pray everyone has a Blessed Christmas.
Lyn

Good morning!
I have my accomplishment list ready for today. Crenda will be here to spiff up the house. I will be making a new to me recipe for a Yule log for tomorrow. It's a icebox recipe, using soft bakery sugar cookies, frosted with a rum flavored whipped cream. And I need to make a batch of chewy cookies for Mr G. Almost forgot, I need to assemble 2 green stuffs too. Sometime today will be a football game on too. My friend around the corner is stopping by so she can see my Nutcracker wall. So I'll be just a bit busy. I finished my gift shopping yesterday too.
Still no snow maybe a bit of rain. We are just too warm for this time of year. 60 plus all day, doesn't lend itself well to snow. Checked the temp where we lived in Concord, same as here! This too shall pass, as my mom would say. Snow will get here, but at least it will be a short winter.
I have my sewing planned for the next little bit. I need to do several receiving blankets, with a crocheted edge and find something for little new baby's quilt. I did a cute dinosaur quilt, preprinted fabric that would be great, if I can find something like that. Kate for some reason, likes a fleece blanket that is two pieces of fleece, knotted together around the edge. So I don't knock my self out with a intricate quilt. I like to do a quilt that used, drug around and not relegated to the closet, never to see the light of day again. So after Christmas, I'll head out to my LQS's for a look see.. I'll take Sarah, but keep a tight rein on her. She wants to go whole hog on this - bag, quilt, curtains, sheets, etc.
So that's my plan here. Hungry too, need breakfast. But am tired of plastic fork required food. Down to a week or so left to be able to ditch the plastic fork requirement ! I am so tired of being patient!
Well, need to get dressed,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning Girls
Merry Christmas Eve Eve!
Judi... What a nice tradition you have with your neighbors! One of my neighbors used to do an "Abandoned Parents Breakfast" for a few of use whose adult children have gone other places on Christmas Eve/Day. It was fun, tho sometimes I have to say I felt a little 5th wheel-ish as I was only single gal. But it was always nice to be invited. I imagine you have been neighbors for many many years---and I think those kinds of neighbors are getting to be quite rare!
Maryz... Oh my gosh... not much worse than a smoke alarm waking you up in the night (except for maybe a kid/dog/cat throwing up in your bed) One of my smoke alarms is at the top of a 16 foot ceiling but I'm thinking that it's hard wired so hopefully doesn't require a battery change?
No New Years Eve party here, the younguns are off doing their own thing, but I may see if Gary, Peggy and Katie would like to come and play cards. I've actually cleaned off my dining room table so I can have guests. The zipper is in! not too much trouble, but we shall see how well it works when Shawn tries on the pants. Nothing wrong with instant gravy mix... though I did see an ad on TV for "Better than gravy" by the same company that makes "better than bouillon" which I would buy by the gallon jug if I could--it's the Best!!!
Flo.... Yesterday I was helping Katie go through a box of estate fabric she bought. You would not believe the home made dresses we found. One was bright orange textured 100% polyester and the other was lime green 100% poly! We sure got a chuckle out of those! All sorts of old dress patterns too from the late 60's. Not much quilting fabric in the mess, but tons of polyester fabric.
Valerie... Kind of a good thing you are a nurse so you can understand all that Xray report! It's all greek to me. But it sounds like the Dr doesn't feel like a hip replacement is needed for now. Do you do Chiropractic care? A little steroid for the inflammation should a help a little and of course IBU is good choice. I have trochanteric bursitis in both legs so can really appreciate your pain, tho I've been advised against Nsaids. I looked up Guggenheim scissors this morning and I just might have to treat myself to a pair one of those days... they look wonderful even tho I for sure don't NEED another pair of scissors--I've collected quite a few.
Lyn... 70* Oh my gosh, that sounds wonderful to me!! We'll be lucky if we hit 29* today! I don't think I've ever had clamato juice but I sure like V-8 every once in a while. Hope you get your washer fixed before you run out of clean clothes---would be a shame to have to go buy some news clothes!
Jana.... Sounds like you have a few things to do in the new year! My wipe board in my sewing room is blank right now as I'm trying to decide what I want to accomplish--I mean FINISH in 2026! Is your Sarah a fabric lover too? Oh my goodness... I bet she'd go crazy if she could see my fabric warehouse! Every kind of fabric/textile she could possibly want from sequins for gowns to heavy duty upholstery fabric.
Chriss... Your sandwich idea got me thinking about what to do around here for Christmas. I haven't heard from Shawn so I have NO idea what their plan is--haven't gotten that "Come on over" phone call.

Kevin and Sara will go Sara's folks (they live just down the street from me) --- and I have been invited there on Christmas Day. But, I think I will stay home, putts around and have Kevin/sara and kids stop by my house after their big noon meal for light sandwiches and/or just dessert. With luck Brennen and Evie will come over too. You've never had Egg Nog? Some folks put alcohol in it--maybe Brandy or Whiskey, but I like it just plain. I purposely don't buy it as it's pretty sweet aka High Carb! Not that it would matter with all the junk I've been eating lately.
for now I need to do a little shine up in the kitchen, then put on a little face and run up to the grocery store for a couple little things. After that, you'll find me in the sewing room!
Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas!

Oh yes, Sarah is a fabricholic too. The only problem with that, is she stores it in my Batt Cave! Along with her half finished projects, that she hopes and tries to con me into finishing for her! Learned that trick a long time ago, they sit and wait for her. There is still a twin size quilt thar was made for Ethan as a toddler, it's awaiting to be loaded and quilted. Guess it will be Enoch's quilt. Ethan will be 14 in a week! So not only are my UFO's here, so are Sarah's! My Batt Cave is bigger than her sewing space.

MaryZ, Thanks for the idea of pork chops. I haven't fixed those in a couple of months. My recipe is 4 boneless pork loins, mix up a Pork or Cornbread Stuffing mix. I just use warm water/butter in a bowl, pour it over the top of pork and smooth out. Then pour a jar of Pork gravy over or a can of mushroom soup mixed with half can of water. Cover with foil bake at 350° for 40 minutes, then take foil off and bake 20 more minutes. It made us 2 meals. I will now freeze the extra for later meals.

Oh my did I discover something yummy! It would taste good on a flip flop!
4 cups whipping cream
1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
8 Oz room temp cream cheese
1 tsp rum flavoring extract
1/2 tsp vanilla
Beat the cream cheese until very smooth, add powdered sugar, beating again until smooth. Then add 1 cup of whip cream and flavoring, beat until smooth and slightly thick. Then add rest of the whipping cream, beating until quite stiff. Frost whatever you want! Even that flip flop! As Sarah said, anything rum flavor tastes great!
This was the frosting for my ice box cookie yule log.
Rich, but oh so yummy!
