For once, I woke up the dog instead of the other way around. But he never grumbles. Any time I move, day or night, he jumps up and comes with. There just might be food involved.
CHRISS - Glad you are keeping Dad busy. It keeps him in touch a little bit with his old lifestyle. Have you given any thought to any sewing projects? The presents you've got for Elliott will be the best! He's going to love both of them. Didn't you make him a stocking last year? That is ringing a bell with me. You seem to win prizes everywhere you go! A few weeks ago you won $75 at Bingo! Girl, you must be Irish!! And yes, dinosaurs belong on trees. And this year, the tree is fake and pink flocked!
JUDI - glad Ken survived the MRI. I think the MRI people have been working to help patients with claustrophobia. Smart move to order chicken. How did you order it fixed? And did you get your ham pre-sliced, too? You are so ready! Now, what are you going to do with your time between now and the Feast??
LORI - do you know how you hurt your shoulder to begin with or was it just overuse? Underuse? Not enough sewing?? If it seems like I do a lot each day it's all smoke and mirrors. Some of the errands, I just wait in the car. And Bill did most of the laundry (yesterday) and made the bed. He's already got the sheets back in the washer this morning - Dr orders fresh sheets every night for 3 nights pre-op. But I did travel the grocery store, hanging on to the cart - just like my mom used to do. That Christmas program must have been beautiful - especially with your own friend playing the bells.
MARY Q - did you get all your Christmas stuff down yesterday? Is today decorating day?? You know, I LOVE real trees, but this year we're using Drew's 6' pre-lit fake tree because we needed a tree in mid-October before any trees were available. And you know - it's not bad! There are advantages - A big one is that you can put it up in October and leave it up until Jan - or the next Dec! The problem is storage. One more thing to try to fit on the shelves in our shop - with the other fake stuff - poinsettias and garlands. Did you go and look at that flocked tree? In the little video kids sent of Amara hanging her dinosaur ornament, I saw the tree is fake, and pink flocked! It looks fun! I saw a similar one at Michaels and it really caught my eye.
JANA - Glad Mr. G is feeling a bit better. My brother, Jim, who had Parkinson's, was pretty wobbly, too. Walking is IMPORTANT! Any exercise. He and Terry walked 2 miles every day. Jim used a walking stick for balance which helped a lot. And made him look more athletic than a cane (though he had a cane, too). That was a cool story you shared about the temple in Hawaii during the Pearl Harbor attack. I'm sorry you won't get your new teeth until after Christmas, but you can always puree your turkey and spread it on toast points with a dab of cranberry sauce. Try it! You (and Mikey!) will like it!
LYN - I'm not fan of roller coasters either. And you are riding a big one! My heart is with you as you rush through all the ups and downs. Trying to send you hugs, support, and strength through "subspace". I'm happy to hear Garry passed his swallow test. How is his limb movement? Is PT still working with him? Is he alert and oriented when he is awake?
DIANE - I had the same experience yesterday, trying to get on our forum. When this happens I usually just sip my coffee and check e-mails/texts that came in through the night while I wait for it. And it's most likely not QIAD, but their internet provider. If that makes me sound smart, don't be fooled - I live with a retired network engineer.
VAL - I hope you can get on the site today. I e-mailed them and told them what you are experiencing. In the meantime, feel free to text me anything you'd like posted. Though there will be a short interruption in my services while I go for my new hip.
Well, let's see - what did I do yesterday? Helped Bill fold one load of clothes, watched two football games (both of my teams won! Hawks and Broncos), and stitched about 4 Cathedral Windows. Bill heated up the bean soup on the wood stove as we watched a baking competition show. I do empty the dishwasher most mornings if it has been run. That can be problematic as there is so much turning to put various dishes, utensils, pots, and pans away. I have to take several short steps to make turns, rather than just pivot. If I forget and pivot, I am very sorry.
Today's plan - chiropractor with my red laser treatment. Then Lee and Lara asked us to go with them to Three Hearts Bakery in Tacoma where Alec is the new head baker. I'm still waiting for my "pre-screening for anesthesia" phone call that I was supposed to get last Friday. There is nothing else on my to-do list except remove my nail polish and pack a small bag because I will probably be spending tomorrow night in the hospital as my surgery is scheduled for so late in the day. Unless they suddenly change the time which is always possible. I am so relieved that I'm finally getting this new hip, but also a bit anxious. Surgery is surgery. Bill will text one or two people here and maybe one of them will post a quick update like "She survived!" ?
Tonite's supper: Poached eggs on sour dough toast. Something light.
Wishing you all a good day to begin a good week.
