Sunday December 7th, 2025
Good morning, I was up before the sun but when the sun did appear there was more snow on the ground and it is snowing now. We have Ken's MRI this morning. I didnt even know they did them on a sunday,
All is well here, I just have sheets to change and may bake some cranberry bread, (Hope Maryq's Mom is smiling from heaven) I will make fried chicken for supper and what ever I can find to go with it,,,I have romaine lettuce so maybe a caesar salad.
So if you need me I will be in the kitchen today,,,
All the gifts are wrapped and stashed. ( santa doesn't bring them til Christmas eve, so there is nothing under the tree) Totes are stored. I do need to clean the man cave and set up tables and foldng chairs...but I have time for that,
Well I need to get coffee and get Ken ready to go,,,,Have a wonderful sunday, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: Sunday December 7th, 2025
Good drippy morning. I can hear lazy raindrops dripping on the roof.
LORI - I hope your shoulder is better today? How much longer will you be getting PT?
LYN - I had to take catch my breath reading your post yesterday. Besides all your stress, you're putting a lot of miles in! Is Oaks in Burnett? And I'm curious about the Mexican restaurant if you remember the name. We used to go to Jardine's out that way, but it may be gone by now. I'm happy you got your Jeep back. and that Bob & Carol are there for you. Please tell her 'hey' for me! And sounds like you found a good dealership for your Jeep! That is a relief to have your vehicle back. I'm glad to hear you were able to get Garry to respond to you, even if only slightly.
JANA - we also threw out our last boxes of tinsel (used and saved, of course!) tinsel about 20 years ago. I don't know if it's even sold in stores any more. It was pretty, but what a hassle it was. Someone should invent a garland that looks like tinsel when you put it on the tree. Easy on, easy off! Or we should use narrow silver ribbon to hang all the ornaments. That would give the illusion of tinsel. sort of. Is Kate still at her present job? I've forgotten what she was doing after she left FD. And if she is, can she work after her Braxton-Hicks scare?
TINA B - with all those beautiful trees, you probably have a lot of Christmas totes, too! But I bet you can't beat Jana! If we had a differently designed house, I'd have trees all over, too! I LOVE Christmas trees! But one large one upstairs in LR and a smaller one downstairs in FR is all we can manage.
JUDI - Your JA - I bet you end up doing "just one block to see what it looks like". You are in the mood to sew - sew why not? If everything else is done. It's OK with me.
I hope Ken does OK with the MRI. Will it be the open machine or enclosed. As long as they put a folded washcloth over my eyes - and I don't open them, I'm good. But if I could see where I was, I'd be scrambling out of there! They played Christmas music for me to listen to.
LOIS - another hair cut - put me in line, too, please! I've always heard that hair grows faster in summer warmth ad slowly in the colder weather.
MARY Q - how did your day go at the craft bazaar?
VAL - what's happening at your house this weekend?
CHRISS - How are things? How does Dad's wound look? Have you seen it? What's his latest project at your house? Still the oven hole in the wall?
Amara's new thing is dinosaurs. RAWRRR!! So I found a blown glass dinosaur ornament and sent it along with ornaments for Mom, Dad, and a special bell ornament, too. Mama repackaged the dinosaur so she had a present she could open all by itself. She was thrilled! Daddy asked her where does the dinosaur go? And she ran and hung it on the tree. So now you know - dinosaurs go on trees! We have a short video to prove it. lol!
Yesterday was a lot of running around and a lot of walking through grocery store, Target, and two cemeteries. We were home by noon but then I had to put groceries away, wash veggies, and make a veggie tray to take to Doyle & Susie's. My hips and low back were barkin'! I sat my hiney down about 1pm in my upstairs recliner and read a book for a couple of hours before we had to leave again at 3:30. It was a busy day but we got the last stuff down we needed to do before Christmas and before my surgery.
Except laundry. We have an overflowing hamper. Plus we need to wash sheets and change the bed every day until after surgery. So that will be the order of the day - plus watching the Seahawks. Leftover ham & bean soup for supper. And salad and rolls.
That's all for now, folks! Hoping the day is a good one for us all.

Rainy again and won't go away for a day or more. UGH!!!
Will be happy to see the sun. I read each day and try to stay up to date with everyone posts. I'm having a hard time getting on the chat site-about 5 minutes holding then when I can hit on the date another 5 minutes holding until it connects or the lap top turns black. Is anyone else going thru this??
The inside of the house is ready for Christmas and when the rain leaves we'll do the outside. We have a small front porch we light up.
Prayers for those in need

And I'm back with a note from Valerie. She's been unable to get on the forum this morning. She asked me to post for her.
Her DH is back to work after his fall from the ladder. He is on light duty. There may be a bump in the road for Tony but won't know for another 7-10 days. And if anyone needs her phone number, she said I can share it with you in a PM.

Re: Sunday December 7th, 2025
I guess we hit 70 yesterday. But I was in the hospital for 10 hrs and never felt it.
MaryZ, Yes, the Oaks Nursing facility is in Burnet. The restaurant was Los Compadres, it's on the south end of town on the main street.
I feel like we're on a roller coaster, and I don't like roller coasters. Met with the doctor and we are down to invasive procedures or hospice. The gallbladder needs a tube put in through the liver to drain the gallbladder, because there's no way he could have it removed. Since he failed the swallow test on Friday then there is talk of putting in a picc line. That was in the morning. The chaplain came by early afternoon and she is the one we had seen at the Rehab hospital a week ago. It was nice to see a familiar face, and we prayed with Garry. The doctor had ordered a swallow test for Saturday and by 5, no one had come. I asked the charge nurse if she could find out what was going on. There had been a miscommunication. But the speech therapist who had done the test on Friday lives just down the road and came in, on her day off, after 6 and did the test. To my surprise, the speech therapist was Christine, who saw him right after the first stroke Nov. 12th. She's at the Marble Falls hospital in the morning and at this hospital afternoons. She was upset that he had failed the test on Friday. She wondered if he had been slightly sedated for that scan, and that's why he failed. She tested him and he passed with flying colors and she ordered several things, so he could pick or choose what to eat. Garry ate about 1/4, which is what speech therapist figured.
For those having trouble posting, I wonder if there's a setting on your computer blocking the website.
Don't know what today will bring.

Re: Sunday December 7th, 2025
Good morning!
Church is a bit later this morning. I have my hymns all practiced and ready to go for Sacrament meeting. Only a couple more Sundays until our Sacrament meeting start time will change. Something I'm not looking forward too! We'll get the early time to start, which is 9 am. Getting Mr G going to be on time that early is not easy. But, the good side, is we're done early too.
A little straightening today, putting the rest of the ornaments on and I'll be done. I have all the supplies to make some cookies , divinity and fudge. Divinity will be the last, on Christmas Eve, it doesn't hold well too long, dries out. I'm using small treat bags of Russiaan teacakes as neighbor gifts, so may do those today.
I find during different time of the day the site here runs slow. Maybe a minute to load up. But mostly it's up quickly. I do have a high speed internet company.
Mr G is doing better since his cath lab procedure. He has warm hands again. His hands have been quite cold to touch. The Parkinson's is giving us the most trouble with balance, he "weebles" a lot. Still waiting to hear from the PT group to start there again. We need another graduation t-shirt!
Lyn - such hard decisions, but happy to read of Garry's successes!
Judi - never heard of a MRI on Sunday. But I guess the machine doesn't know what day it is.
Maryz. - so dinosaurs have invaded! Karlie loved dinosaurs too. Even had pink pj's that were dinosaurs and had the roar down too! We've moved onto penguins now. Along with bears.
Today is remembrance of Pearl Harbor. A day we should never forget. And the many very brave sailors! I know of a little known story of part of the attack there. It's in our church history. After all the ship's were hit in the first run of bombings, another group was sent to attack infrastructure on the islands of Hawaii. One target that was chosen was the LDS Temple in Laie. The Japanese pilot saw his target and went in to drop his bombs on the target, the Temple, looked again, and the target had disappeared, completely. He checked his navigation coordinate, he was where he was supposed to be, so returned back to his ship, not completing his mission. We have this account from the actual pilot. He joined the church after the war. There are so many accounts of God protecting and preserving what is needed. Every year, the search light on top of Mt Diablo, in Walnut Creek is lit on December 7th. This light is in direct line of sight from the opening of the bay at the Golden Gate. Mt Diablo was in my backyard in Concord. This lighthouse is a historical landmark in the Bay Area.
Well, this has taken me forever, Mr G was having technical difficulties with using his phone and it took me a long time to solve them! Uggh! But I did!
Many prayers, Hugs too,
Jana

Re: Sunday December 7th, 2025
Good Morning Girls
OH my goodness, I am definitely not leaving the house today!! Our high temp it going to be 5 degrees ABOVE zero!!!! AACCHHH... Might turn on my gas fireplace to add a little warmth here today!
Judi.... An MRI on a Sunday!!!? I hope you will be able to get results back quickly on a Sunday! When I took neighbor Peggy last week, she had results later than afternoon! Not something you wants to wait days to hear about it! Oh I'm sure my Mom is smiling down and I can almost hear her laughing that so many folks love her cranberry bread. She was a great cook and did occasionally like to bake cookies etc---but truth be known--she'd have rather been reading a book or playing with plants and flowers etc. She, like me, gets no endorphins from cooking!
Maryz...... If I ever say "oh I think I'll make some things for a craft fair" you have my permission to "smack" me and remind me that I said I would never do this again!!!! I came out only about $130. ahead (not including the cost of fabric and supplies and time). It was pretty busy early on, quieted down a little later. but it was done by 2pm. I think the only thing I can say sold well, were the simple little aprons--not the fancy reversible ones. I only sold them for $5.00. I sorted stuff into totes by whether I was going to keep or donate. I'd rather give it a place like St. Vincent, where if they sell it, it will do some good. Katie does these craft fairs as a business...... not me man, that's too much like a job! Do you have everything lined up at home before your surgery on Tuesday? If Bill gets a chance after you are out, let him know he can text me to let us know how you are doing.
Diane.... Every once in a while I have trouble getting online here too, and since I'm not always very patient about computer issues,---I wander off and forget to come back and try again---hence the days I don't make it here at all. We have plenty of sunshine here this morning, but if you have any extra warmth, send it up!
Lyn... As I was sitting at the craft fair yesterday, it was at a Catholic Church near my house, I kept thinking what a perfect place to be to send some extra prayers. Do you think God was listening to me when Garry passed his swallow test? I sure hope so. I'm guessing you are in kind of limbo position these days, waiting for something to happen one way or the other so decisions can be made. You know that even tho we are not close by, we wrap our arms around you for support.
Tina.... How fun to put up two trees!!! My son is coming this afternoon to haul down my Christmas stuff. It's going to awful cold up in the attic for him to crawl around in!! I might have to let my stuff sit for a day to warm up before I try to decorate! I do my tree a little different every day. In fact, this morning as I was trying to get self UP and out of bed, I contemplated running over to Hobby Lobby tomorrow and grabbing that white flocked tree I have my eye on!!
I have ornaments that my Aunt Ida made back in about 1965--she made every body one and attached crisp dollar bills! I have the ones that were my folks and my lost brother! I hang those every year!
Jana. 25 TOTES OF CHRISTMAS STUFF!!!! Oh My Gosh. You must share pictures of you decorations! Do your kids give you a hard time about all your stuff? I bet it's beautiful when it's all up and lit up! Does Mr G get the train all set up to go around the tree? I think that would be really fun! I do love a tinseled up tree... DEX's mother used to do tinsel one at a time--so I've heard many times--she passed before we were married but every year we did tinsel, I left that to DEX to if he was going to be so fancy about it!
Chriss... I don't see you on yesterday's post! Are you busy busy busy!! What's your plans for Christmas. Will you get to spend some time with Richard, Gloria and of course Elliot! Remember back when we were talking about baby names, yesterday I met a gal at the craft fair with a darling baby girl in a stroller, I always ask the baby's name... She was Barbara! with a big sister Margaret. You sure don't hear those names any more. I also met a Penelope!
Anyway... Time for me to get in gear, I have to clear away some of the craft fair stuff still in my living room and make a path for Shawn to bring in my Christmas tree and decorations. I don't even know all what's up there even tho I know I tried to pack it away very organized when I took it down in January. This time of year, on the Buy Nothing Group, folks are always looking for Christmas decorations... so I may weed out some and give them away. I've gone crazy with bows and know I have TON of those I don't need to keep. (Or I could always get more NEXT year
)
Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday!

Re: Sunday December 7th, 2025
Maryz, yes the shoulder is a little better today. It usually feels better after I exercise. Seems to stretch out the joint a bit. It's just really tight. They just extended by PT for 5 more weeks. They say it can take 6 month to 2 years for this to get better. I don't know how you get so much done with a bad hip and back. The site is slow to load sometimes. Hopefully Valerie will be able to log on soon. Amara like dinosaurs now. Did she see a movie or book with them in it? Elizabeth Hartman has a dinosaur quilt pattern.
Maryq, hope you do well with the craft fair. Is this the one that goes on for a while?
Lyn, I like roller coasters, but not the kind you're on. Hope things fall into place as they should. When they were doing the swallow test on my dad, I didn't even think about the fact that he may have been impaired at the time. I was not happy with the nursing home he was in and had him transferred back to the B&C as soon as he was able.
Diane, doesn't it seem like with the rain it's all or nothing. We got a bunch last month, and nothing since.
Judi, Hope the MRI goes well and nothing is found. Sounds like you are ready for Christmas.
I went to a Christmas program at a Church last night. My friend played the bells in the program. It was a small church and they did a wonder job with the program. Today I need to read over some paperwork and sigh it to transfer some stocks from my dads account. I decided to make a few more Joy pillows from my friends for Christmas. I don't know what to get them, so I will make them something. Doing them on the machine goes pretty quick. I still need to clean up a few messes. I need to get some wrapping paper to wrap some Christmas gifts as well. Dinner will be fresh halibut, angel hair pasta and broccoli.
Have a lovely day.
Back from MRI Ken did really well He is clautrophobic and they told him if he needed it they could sedate him. Well they had him lie down in the machine and he said it was bigger and more comfortable than the last one he had,,,They gave him a pillow and head phones and he did fine without sedation and was done in 35 minutes, just had to wait for the contrast to work ( a radioactive dye to visulaize the area needed to scan) we left there and stopped and ordered chicken for Christmas eve. ( i made it myself one year , never again) So I order it to be ready on CE and my son picks it up on his way to may house. I will make the ham and keilbasa just have to put it in the oven The girls will bring everything else...
I have 29 totes. all have been stashed in the storage room. Some might remain empty as I will store the quilts upstairs in the closet this year...they were too wrinkled mushed into totes. I have pretty much purged all I am willing to part with...I have 2 large trees 4 small table top trees and ornaments galore..I gave DD all of the antique (vintage) ornaments 2 yrs ago for her vintage tree, I still look for vintage ornaments when I shop both on line and in thrift store.....xxxooo

Just a note - finally. Post image wasn’t plain nice with me the last few days but suddenly, this morning, it is all friendly again so I was able to post a photo of my vintage Christmas quilt.
