Good morning,

We're 39* and cloudy this morning, and going to a high of about 46*. Typical for PNW this time of year.

Chickie sent me pictures of their burned shop. Its a total loss. Their UTV (which I've ridden in!) was in there along with, tools, tool chests, an antique cedar chest Doyle had just finished refinishing, and so much more. They were insured but it's still heart-breaking. Chickie got her sewing machines set back up yesterday. Doyle had grabbed them, running out of the house because they thought their house was going to go, too. And it almost did. One door to the outside was scorched clear to the inside of the door and the frame. So scary for folks who almost died in a previous fire.

CHRISS - I always cook in larger portions. More meals, less cooking. Nothing wrong with eating the same thing two nights in a row. And having a freezer full of leftover meals is a big YAY! in my opinion. Doing all your windows at the same time just might be worth it, but getting bids for all, some, and single is a good idea. Weren't you thinking about lowering or raising the living room windows? Did that happen yet? And on furnaces - Our old furnace was still going after 47 years, though it was starting to "chug" a bit. We replaced it two years ago. Maybe you just need ducts cleaned or repairs. The cost of a new one is kind of eye-popping. Glad Dad is doing better. Antibiotics are a wonderful thing. And are you going to your cardiac rehab???

MARY Q - I checked out the Fat Cat Bee Happy BOM just to see what you were excited about. Did you sign up for it? It's not my thing, but then I don't have bees on my door. I think that's a cute idea for your fourplex. I would love a laundry room, too. I just have a cubby behind bifold doors. Open the doors and there's Mr. and Mrs Maytag! Along with the hot water heater and a laundry tub. All reachable with a single step.

JANA - I hope you get your snow if you want it. When I was 16 my English class went on a field trip to see Shakespeare's Twelfth Night at a theater. Being one of the few with a driver's license I drove 4 other girls. When we came out, there was 3" of snow on the ground! Yikes! I'd never driven in snow. I learned quickly! I had to deliver all those girls to their homes, then go pick up my aunt at a car dealership, then drive across the 1.25 mile long Narrows bridge. My aunt was freaked and crawled over the seat to sit in the backseat where she thought she'd be safer if we crashed. Once we got to Gig Harbor her driveway was 1/4 mile long down a very steep hill with deep ditches on both sides. Somehow I got down that hill and back up againl. I was the only one in both our families to have never skidded into that ditch! And that is the story of how I learned to drive in snow. I know how, but I don't like to. I'd rather stay home.

VAL - sorry TG dinner didn't set well with your tummy. You have a lot of different projects going on! I lost count. You must wear a cape when you sew! I can only work on one quilt at a time. If I try to get more going at once, I just spin my wheels and don't make much progress on anything. Plus, I simply don't have room for more than one quilt.

LORI - I've got my wooly mittens set in place. My fusible didn't fuse so I'm going with Plan B. The directions are kind of funny - they mainly say trace, cut, fuse, embroider. I'm going rogue!

LYN - Is Garry making any progress? So sorry about the insurance. Remember, over the ENTIRE insurance industry, their secret motto or business plan, if you will, is to Deny, Delay, Defend. Plus, they all want to close as many claims as they can before the end of the year. Keep fighting. In the meantime, have you found any facility close to your house? How far is Georgetown from Sunrise Beach? Praying still!!

TINA B - you need a secretary!! And a sewing room. How is that project coming along?

LOIS - how did your gingerbread cookies turn out? Did you make "g-men" or just round cookies? I have to tell you, gingerbread is pretty far down my cookie list, so if you were planning to send me some, you really don't need to.

JUDI - yesterday we had almost identical errands! P.O,, groceries, pharmacy. It's always the same errands. Is all your shopping done now? Mine is, though I want to order a green ride-on tractor for Little Miss Amara. She sure loved her tractor rides when they were here!

Yesterday I worked on Christmas cards, trimmed my KTVC, and got my wooly mittens, courtesy of Lori, all set and ready to go. Only my fusible didn't hold so I'm going to put a little spot of fabric glue to hold everything in place until I can embroider it. In the evening, I worked a little bit on my Cathedral Windows. I'm coming down to the finish line on this one, but it's become slow going. Stitching them really aggravates my carpal tunnel. I try to remember to wear my brace which helps. And I stitch only in short time spurts now.

Today - It's Lulu Day!! Yay!! I'm going to label and bind my Vintage Christmas, write more cards, and fiddle with my wooly mittens. About 3:30 we're leaving for Bremerton with Lee & Lara to meet Drew for dinner. And to say good bye to him. The Naval Shipyard is sending him to Japan for 4 months. He leaves Saturday and this Nonnie is going to miss her "little" grandson (who somehow got to be 32 yrs old!).

22 days left! If you're sewing for Christmas, you better hurry up!

good morning one and all.
Its sunny and 21 degrees today. Tomorrow and Friday morning at this time, it will be in single digits like 1 and wind chills much colder. Of course not doing water aerobics tomorrow Dr appt and Friday it will be too cold for 2 old people to drive 25 minutes to jump in a pool for exercising then coming out into cold air. Doing great on Mt Washmore and bed linens, and got groceries, and one tree standing only 3 to go. Today DH has DR appt so I am washing kitchen floor, then after lunch another Dr appt and I will go with him the be at church for Advent supper set up, serve and clean up then home should be around 8. Plan is to iron shirts and move sewing machine down to kitchen table ironing board already up. Tomorrow morning Dr. appts for both our shoulders then I really have to wrap the Sunday School Chrismons for delivery to church on Sunday. In my mind I had longer time because the Sunday School program is the 15. But I still have Thursday and Friday to accomplish so not stressed yet.
Hopefully will go to get some fabric to make bowl cozies next week and quilt top assembly in between stuff.
Everyone be safe in snow and cold, prayers for all, we can all use a prayer today.
Today thankful for the sun, beautiful sky and knowing the Good Lord has it all under control for us.
Blessings,
TinaB

This morning I have blood draw for oncology appointment in 10 days. I hate them. I always get bruised.
When I get home, I will play in sewing room.
I hadn't heard about fire at Chickies. I will reach out to her when I get home.

Good morning!

More wonderful white stuff fell last night. Yippee! A break for a day or two, then more. Hopefully that will be the pattern for our winter. As long as there's a break between storms, I can run to get groceries, and not run out of milk! Milk is very important! The pantry is stocked, so that's not a problem.

Today I'm determined not to be a sloth! Mr G has been helping, as much as he can to put up decorations. He's not allowed on a ladder, too "weeble -ly" , so he helps at ground level. I need to be done, so I can play in the Batt Cave!

Ethan has orchestra today. His private cello teacher, auditioned for the Orchestra at Temple Square and was chosen to join! This orchestra plays with the Tabernacle Choir each week and with the choir's tours. Quite a prestigious accomplishment and Ethan is learning from her. Ethan is learning so much on cello technique! Oh, Ethan will be playing a cello solo in church for Christmas.

Chriss - our Concord house, we replaced the windows with double paned ones. We did it as we could afford them, two or three at a time. Those windows really worked for weather and noise!

Maryz - we have a ride on John Deere tractor toy here. It started out as Ethan's, and has been loved by all the younger grands. It was rode from my driveway around the court to Sandee's driveway, and back again. Many hours! It was a pedal tractor with a attached trailer. It's still here, waiting now for the new little's turn. The other grands have graduated to driving Mr G's big real one!

Well, better get kicking this sloth to the door,

Hugs,
Jana

Lois, pantographs for quilting? They take a lot of patients. I did a trial run
all the way down a king size before I start to do it. I think over time you get muscle memory.

Maryz, it sounds like chickies exterior door was a fire rated door and it did it's job. That must have been pretty scary for them since they've been though it before. As for the wool and fusible, I spray a little water and let the iron sit a little longer. Then turn it over and do the backside. If you are worried about scorching the fabric, lay some parchment paper over it. It does take more time because of the thickness. Sometimes I don't use fusible and just pin with little applique pins. The only problem with glue is it's hard to sew though once it dries. I bet Drew is excited to go to Japan. Tell him to bring you back some Indigo.

I need to get dressed and go for a walk with my buddy. Today is the first day in a while I don't have any appointments. Yay! I do need to do some shopping and stop by the See's candy though.

Have a lovely day.

Lois - I have tried learning to use pantographs. A lot of patience. One thing I did learn, using them, you go one way, all the way to the end. Stop, adjust the quilt and go back to the beginning and do it all over again. You can't go back and forth. You Tube has many videos.

Lori - oh See's - love that store! And their walnut logs!

OK, still being a sloth. Just like the one in the Zootopia movies,

Jana

Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today. Our temps are skyrocketing. We should see the mid 50's by the weekend.

I did it, I purchased 10 windows and a sliding glass door. The glass door will be keyed like my other doors. One key will fit all locks. The windows will include screens. I have 3 screens from the windows I had done in November of last year that are still under warranty. Birds have pecked and put holes in them. They will be replaced. It will take 10-12 weeks, and the windows will be installed. God is aligning things, and I am grateful that He provided a way for this all to happen. I put the purchase on my Amazon credit card and will get points to spend on Amazon, double blessing. I am watching to see when the purchase goes through so I can pay it off, I don't like to owe. I am so blessed.

Today I get to go have my teeth cleaned, woo hoo. After that it's a little housework. I'm doing the housework little by little. I still need to dust, vacuum and mop, but I've got plenty of time.

Tomorrow the parents will be here, and I will take Judy for her hair appointment. I have a bag of 16 bean soup and a ham shank that I want to put in the crock pot today and reheat tomorrow. Maybe some corn bread would be good too.

I talked with the nurse at cardio rehab and she said that she really thought I was doing well and didn't see how I could do more. She is calling it an early graduation. I'm done with that and can focus on other things.

Lori, after thinking about it my furnace is probably fine. it's not blowing cold air. And it dawned on me that the indoor temperature thing I use is right next to my window, and it's in the 40's on the other side of that window. I also have leftovers throughout the week. Often, I just put whatever I have in a salad. I love your joy pillow, so will your sister. I love the bond between us and our pooches. I haven't even been to a Sees candy store in years. Enjoy no appointments day.

Maryz, what a great experience for Drew. Hope he gets some exploring time. I only have the freezer space that is on top of my refrigerator, and part of that is an ice maker. I really don't have, or want, a lot of space to store frozen food. I was very grateful when the freezer in the garage died, It was close to empty. The living room windows are lower than 18 inches off of the floor. They will need to be tempered glass as will the bathroom windows. If the windows were 18 inches above the floor, they could be regular glass.

Tina, glad it's sunny. When Marilyn was little she would wake up, look out the window an say "It's sunny. Outside" and she would bang on the door until we opened it so she could go Outside. Then she'd realize it was sunny but not warm and come inside. Every day we did this, what a great memory. I agree, it's too cold to go outside.

Flo, enjoy your play day. Praying for a good report from the doctor.

Lois, you'll get it. You always do. those pantographs will just be another thing that you master.

Jana, I am looking forward to the noise reduction and the insulation of the new windows. I thought I would have to do a few at a time but with black Friday and other discounts I was, thankfully, to do it all at once. I love that John Deere tractor thing. This year Elliott gets a Little Tykes rocking horse, next year the peddle tractor. High Five to Ethan. Does he want to make a career out of the Cello? very cool to have such a talent. I've been working on not being a sloth too.

Elliotts new favorite thing is the wheels on the bus. He does the rolling of the arms, the beep beep beep and swish swish swish movements. So, since Santa writes him a letter each year and sends him a pre Christmas gift for being on the nice list, he is getting a fisher price little people bus. It will be here today and I will write the letter and send it off tomorrow.

As for me, I need start my day. Dinner? who knows. I have plenty of stuff to eat.

You all have a marvy day
Chriss
