Good morning I have 2 inches of new snow this morning and a grocery order to pick up. I hate driving in the snow but hopefuly the trucks will come out before I need to go. Michiganders usually arent afraid of a little snow ( "Snow on the road?? Hold my drink and watch this!) but It must be light out at least which it is not.
Grocery pick up, Post office, gift cards to pick up, and pharmacy to pick up Rxs. It is all in a 10 mile circle.
then when I get home I will try and bake those peanut butter cookies and dip them in chocolate,,then supper then another hockey game. Its super busy here but fun busy.....
Hope you have a great day,,,busy and fun,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,

Yesterday was a good day I got everything that I went for and a little bit more.
I'm glad it's an in the house day we have a wintery mix heading our way but it's not going to amount to anything.
I have decided to try my hands at gingerbread cookies my daughter found a great recipe on tick tok so I will do that I never had a recipe for them so I will try my hands at those.
I will start cookies next week one day at a time.
Today I will do something but don't know what yet.
Judi my husband always says will take the truck and go.
Well that's all the news from here.
Have a great and safe day.
Prayers go out to all.

Good morning Judi and Lois, up at 6 on own. Only 16 and they say patchy fog and ice? That could make driving slippery, so no water aerobics and when sun is up, have to do banking, and errands. Folded one load of laundry and getting ready to do next one. Really want to get sewing machine out, need to make bowl cozies for gifts, but have to go to Hobby Lobby first for fabric. Have to pack Chrismons for Sunday School for Sunday but need to get tissue paper. Mind is going in so many directions will have to get more coffee and regroup.
Prayers for all, blessings and hugs and have a great rest of your day!

Good morning,

I have some sad news. Chickie's big shop burned down yesterday. It was about 36x48 feet. They think it was started somehow by the UTV (side by side ATV) parked inside. They lost everything in the shop, but they and their house survived. I'm not sure how many of you recall back when Chickie first joined the forum, she was still reeling from a fire that burned their house to the ground in the middle of the night. They escaped with nothing but the pajamas they were wearing. After you've been through a fire, the smell of an item decades later that has been through a house fire smoke (different from all other fire smells) can trigger PTSD. She and Doyle are going through a lot right now. Please pray for them. And add a prayer of thanks, also, they they were not hurt and that this time they did not lose their home. Just some hopefully replaceable stuff and a very nice, large building.

JUDI - we have a similar morning planned, only without snow. We have to take Scottie to the vet for his monthly Librela (arthritis injection). Then to the UPS store for our mail, Home Goods for wine gift bags, and Freddy's for two VISA gift cards. We have to have it all done and be home by 10:30 as our Olympia friends, Marc & Sherri, (they of the broken, now healed legs) are bringing their fiver up to park in front of our garage for a few days while Bill helps him install an electric fireplace in it. I will work on cards, bows, and mitten project. Also, I will label and bind my VC quilt. It's done! I told Bill I might bake cookies and he asked me not to. We don't have anyone to give them to and he can't resist them. So I guess I won't be baking.

TINA B - you really are going in a lot of directions today! This is when I have to write down my to-do list and my errand list. Get's me organized.

JANA - glad you are feeling better, but being sick like you were really takes it out of you and leaves you feeling washed out for a few days. And Congratulations to Tanner!! He must be Irish! We are a lucky bunch! And I bet Mom is happy! And Lowe's, too, if she's getting a new laundry room makeover, there will probably be more trips to Lowe's! I'm sure Karlie loved her bear! Amara has a giant rabbit and she can nestle in its lap to snack and watch cartoons and occasionally nap. I miss Aaron, and his stories, too! I knew this would happen when he took the new job! It's like he wasn't even thinking of us!

LORI - glad Jack is back in the swing of the walk! Tell him (and you) I'm starting first of 3 laser treatments on my future surgical site on Friday. Supposed to speed healing. I've told my chiro all about Black Jack. He loves dogs. Their dog is "Pancakes".

LOIS - are you done cleaning? Can we sew now?? on wait! Gingerbread cookies! Let us know how they turn out. What's next up on your sewing agenda?

FLO - saw your photos on FB. It's a pretty project and will be purrfect for late summer/early fall! And fun to do! Though, with that big puppy on your lap it's going to be difficult to stitch! Take it from someone who tries to stitch around an 18# cat!

LYN - how are things going?

Yesterday I finished my entire to-do list except bake cookies, but since Bill said, "No Cookies!" I guess I'm good. However, if he leaves the house one day I may disregard that order and not tell him but we'll see . . . . It would be nice to have some cookies in the freezer in case company drops by. I am nearly halfway through my cards, am almost ready to fuse wool mittens to linen, took care of all my TG leftovers, and emptied a small bookcase and moved it for the interim because it was impeding the way of a walker next to the bed. And I'm told I might need that walker for a few days. Surgery is next Tuesday.

Today's plan - more cards, more wool mittens, and label and bind my KTVC quilt and get it on our bed. We have a few errands to run also. Our scrapbook of Amara's visit was delivered to our UPS mailbox last night and I can't wait to pick up the mail so we can see the book in print.

We have a little bit of TG leftover casserole leftover but I'm thinking 6 days might be pushing it, so I think I'm going to let it go and make new food tonite. Either pork tenderloin or a small steak to split with a baked sweet potato & salad. I'll ask the HOH what his thoughts are. Or maybe he wants to go off script and have something like spaghetti. I like him to feel included in the little decisions and then he doesn't get too upset (or even notice!) when he's left out of the decisions that really matter.

Prayers for Garry and Chickie & Doyle after their fire.

A balmy 35° in Lakeway, TX, is morning.

The friends left yesterday for Aransas Pass, on the coast. I think they were a bit shocked to see Garry in his present condition.

Yesterday I talked with the case manager about insurance and then called insurance. I have to figure out where Garry will go after here. Kaylyn came back, she's having trouble with BFF. Not sure what she would do if I wasn't living in Texas. But, it's good she is here. The dang Jeep came up with a message 'service shifter', as I was leaving the Rehab yesterday afternoon. I called and they said I need to get it right in. So, Kaylyn will follow me to drop off the Jeep this morning. Then we will look at some Care facilities and I need to go to the house.

They did another test on Garry yesterday afternoon, he didn't have a UTI last week, but think he may now. His white count is up and Dr said she was starting him on antibiotics and not waiting to see if it's a UTI or something else.

Prayers for Chickie and Doyle.

I hope everyone has a good day.
Lyn

Good morning. I have been busy. Saturday went to a sample sale at the LQS. I bought a baby quilt I have admired since the shop owner made it. I also bought a cheater quilt. All I have to do is add a backing. Then a Vendor sale downtown Vacaville. Spent Sunday sewing till my back said enoughs enough. The Sunflower quilt binding is all on, Cataleia's is back from the quilter and ready for binding. My Go Cube quilt is all caught up. At class tomorrow I will sew the rows together and get a border on. Yesterday and today is KT. I am working on my Vintage Christmas. Thursday will be finish it class with Annette. Not sure what I will bring to that.

Lyn I guess I missed why Garry can't stay at the rehab. Hope you find a suitable solution.

So sad Chickie's shop is gone. What a horrible event to experience a second time. Prayers for her Doyle for strength to recover 🙏 😢 ❤️.

It has been cold here. Starting tomorrow though should get to the low 60's. I am hoping.

My insides are not happy after too much Thanksgiving. DH made enough for an army and there is just the two of us. Thanksgiving food is hard for those with digestive issues. So I am done. He will have to eat the rest.

I am trying to read everyday but really trying to get through all this stuff for Christmas so I can move on.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone

It's a lovely day in the Winter Paradise! No snow in the forecast and it will be a balmy 27* this afternoon! Yeah... gotta love winter (oh wait, no I don't) Not much in the way of sunshine, but in the winter a cloudy sky actually keeps us a tad warmer--go figure!

Judi.... Minnesota drivers say the same thing... until they end up in a ditch! I can't tell you how many times on roads back and forth to work in storms that some idiot in a pickup truck went sailing by me thinking he was invincible. Hence, I am the world's biggest ninny in snowy weather. Funny they don't make a trophy for that! Do you ever go online and check traffic cameras? It's especially handy if you have to drive on freeways.

Lois... Did you see the new Fat Cat Block of the Month starting in January?? OMG it's so cute! "Bee Happy" It's all BEES and flowers!! I have to do it. In my little Quad, where our 4 front doors/patios face each other we each decorate our patios differently. Katie is Lady Bugs, Connie is Owls, Peggy is Bird Houses and I'm BEES!!! I just ordered a small bolt of heat n bond from Amazon so I'll be ready!! Let us know how your gingerbread cookies turn out. I love a good one dipped in coffee!

Tinab....Oh gosh, if I lived closer I'd bring you a stack of bowl cozies to choose from. Katie next door makes them by the hundreds for craft fairs etc. Not my thing, I mean I know how, but it's not on my list of fun things to make! Does that happen to you too... the brain will not settle down and concentrate on one thing at a time? Welcome to my world!!! Did you get to visit the Christmas markets? Kris wants to go again.

Maryz... O M G I am oh so sorry to hear about Chickie's fire!!! They sure don't need this on top of other things she has going on. My heart sure goes out to her and I will send her a little note and keep her in thoughts and prayers. How are you doing? I was thinking of you last night and wondering if your cold has been set aside for now!! We sure don't want anything to change your surgery plans!!! Not that I LOVE to bake (cuz I don't' LOVE it) but it hardly seems like Christmas if I don't bake something!!! Sara and Kris both do cookie exchanges with their friends/family so it's not like I live without any in sight! I think I'll just do cranberry bread and maybe make some puff pastry cookies that are super delicious! Did you ever see a Muppets Christmas special with John Denver!! OMG I wish I could watch it again.. I have the music on a CD somewhere around here--no CD player, but I have the CD

Lyn.... You may know this already, but often times if there is a change in behavior, they will test for a UTI. Usually in more advanced dementia patients. If they assessed something --some change they might have ordered the UA just in case. I'm glad he doesn't have one, but I'm sure they are watching his water intake to help prevent. Did you have any luck with insurance companies. I wish as they are discussing health care in congress etc--that they would also discuss the "determination of care" and the denial of insurance companies to cover needed care!

Valerie.... Do you feel like you are trying to juggle 5 different bowling balls? You have a lot of quilts in progress---like me with ADD! Glad David is feeling better--has he gone back to work? He kind of strikes me as a guy that wouldn't stay down for too long and he'd be back at it!

Jana... WOW congratulations to Tanner for his win... and especially to Crenda for winning a new washer dryer!! How cool is that! How fun to have a remodel of the laundry. Every time I do laundry I swear "In my next life I'm going to have a BIG laundry room" not like a walk-in-closet!! When I was doing laundry for 5 people I thought the same thing and I would have TWO washers and dryers!

Chriss... How is Dad doing? Actually after I cooked the soup in the crock pot allllll day long on high... it was delicious! So lesson learned---maybe cook the beans really well first! But it was so good I'm going to make it again. I have a little left over--it thickened up a bit, but I'll thin it out with a little more chicken broth. KC had given me a bunch of layer cakes and jelly rolls when she decided to give up sewing, so now I'm trying to use them up. I've been getting BLOCK magazine for years and dragged out a few to look for ideas--also watching a lot of Youtube videos. The problem with the precuts like that is having the right border and backing fabric.

Missed y'all yesterday! I was up and out early to take Peggy (across the street) to the local hospital for an MRI. So while she was there I went to the Walmart across the street and got a few groceries and items for our Association Christmas Party this Thursday. It was so busy I think they had 5 real live person checking out! Normally you're lucky if there's one human being at check out. (Which is why I rarely go to WM). Other than cleaning the kitchen and putting away all the groceries I can't say I accomplished much. I did sort out some things in the sewing room and tried to make sense of a pile of fabric that seemed to have accumulated. Today I have to do some prep work for the craft fair on Saturday! I'm pretty much ready, but man it sure came up fast! It only lasts from 9am to 2pm! Hope I at least make enough to cover the rent on the table!

For now I'll go grab so more coffee and light up this place a little--no sunshine in my windows this morning.

Sending prayers this morning whether you need them or not!

Good morning!

Cold with snow clouds overhead. A little bit more today. We'll take it, bit by bit, all the flakes we can get! As to driving in the snow here, I am the biggest, hugest chicken there ever was! I was a California girl, living in the Bay Area my entire life until 14 years ago. Mr G drove in the snow here, I just sat scared to death. Now it's my turn. I do drive in the snow when I have too. There's a Utah saying, that all swear by, you don't know how to drive in the snow, until you have put your car in the ditch! No thank you, I'll prefer not to learn to drive in the snow, if that has to be.! Aaron and Daniel have both been professionally trained in snow driving both can run code three with a policecar or firetruck. Them, I'll ride with! Mr G earned his snow driving badge back in 1986, when he chose the softer hill side ,not the bridge overpass center cement pillar, not seeing the culvert just before the soft Hill, which caught the front tire and flipped the car onto the roof, completely upside down. The oldest three kids, hung upside down by their seat belts and when all was stopped, asked, can we unbelt now and get outL. They crawled out the back window, which had popped out and under the trunk. One little scratch, otherwise not hurt. For many years after that accident, we could still see the glass on the side of the hill. To visit Mr G's parent's in Cache Valley, we had to drive by the site everything. Lyn knows Sardine pass, just outside Brigham City. So I have a very large aversion to snow. It took a lot of prayer and trust, maybe guts too , moving here. Grands will do that!

So sorry about Chickies and Doyle's barn. Glad it stayed with only the barn. Barn fires aren't easy to control and contain. Many prayers for them.

Karlie loves her bears! It was a "beary" happy birthday. Not only did she get the big bear, she got a faux teddy bear skin rug for the floor and Daniel also found a body pillow that looks like the rug.. Karlie opened the body pillow first and plopped down on it, then opened the bearskin rug. Said ut-oh, covered the eyes of the bear body pillow, saying, that bear shouldn't see this" She's a character!

Scrooge is helping me decorate today. I'm still recovering, but doing much better. Aaron and the girls will come after work today and get in on the decorating. My big boys all dislike my collection of nutcracker and swear after I'm dea, they are taking the nutcracker out to be used for target practice. So today, Aaron will put those nutcracker on the new shelves Daniel built me. Displayed for all to see,my way of teasing them! I have probably more than fifty nutcracker. We won't even get started with my Santa collection or nativity sets. I love Christmas.,

Crenda is here,

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning. It is going to be a great day today.

I have Home Depot coming to measure my windows today. I have 10 needing to be replaced and might as well have them measure all of them and give me a bid. Hoping I can have them all done and not have to do it a few at a time.

This morning my furnace isn't doing what it's supposed to do. It was set at 65 and was only 60 in the house. I think it needs a service. It's 35 years old and I have no clue if parts are still made for it, but I'm not going to be worried over it, it will either be repaired or replaced.

Yesterday I got my bathrooms cleaned, today will be dusting and floors. Perhaps even a load of laundry. Sure wish it would warm up just enough to do outdoor things, but I guess if I started outdoor things I would warm up.

Jana, wow. Just read that Tanner was the big winner. My goodness that is something he will never forget. High five to him from me. I'd love to see your nutcracker display, Marilyn has a zillion of them in totes in the garage.

Judi, Jerry was the card sender and the decorator here. I am completely the opposite. I found boxes of Christmas cards and donated them to the thrift store. I do have the forever stamps and they will likely last me forever. I don't mail out many things anymore.

Lois, mmmm, gingerbread. It reminds me of the gingerbread man swap we had. Someone made theirs with the arm bitten off, it was cute.

Tina, I had to go to the bank yesterday, totally forgot about banks on the first of the month. It was a long line.

Maryz, I vote for steak, with sauteed mushrooms and onion. Seems like it took forever for that surgery date to arrive and bam, just like that it's coming up. So glad you are getting it done.

Lyn, I'm glad Kaylyn is there too. She will keep the days and evenings from being so quiet. Sorry her BFF and she are having issues but am also glad she has you to bunk with. Will Garry need to be in a board and care long term or just another rehab?

Valerie, busy, busy, busy. But it's a fun busy. glad you are getting so much done. I thought about trying to make a not so big TG sort of dinner. Just turkey, dressing, and a few other things but that would be just too much food for me, even if I took some to the parents. And my freezer would object. hope you get some tummy happy food soon.

Maryq, it was busy everywhere yesterday. I was going to go to WM but decided not to when I saw the parking lot. Dad is doing much better. I brought home the walker and cane I took to him because he didn't need it anymore. My layer cake go to is the half square triangle. I use MSQC tutorials a lot. It's nice to be able to rewind the videos and see how it's done. Now I have to go see the Fatcat pattern about the bees. A friend of mine just asked if I knew how to make bowl cozies. Lois shared her pattern with me, and it's an easy one to do.

Lori, your sis will love the Joy pillow. I bought some more reusable containers for dad's dinners. They just don't eat much anymore and it's so difficult to cook small portions and not have a freezer full of leftovers. I smile every time I read that you are taking Jack for a walk, so glad his walking is improved

Time for breakfast, then to get busy here. You all have a fab day
Chriss

Chriss, our original furnace made it to 42 years. Hopefully yours will too. I notice that we don't eat as much as we used to either. So if I cook for 4, we get 2 meals and only one time cooking. Walking with Jack makes me smile too. He's my bud.

Jana, I'm with you. I'd prefer not to learn to drive in snow. Funny that every time I went up to Utah in winter it was between snow storms. Jonathan use to tell me to come visit so he could have nicer weather.

Maryq, that's why I don't go to Walmart either. I do not like self check out.

Valerie, QIAD had a huge sale on GO dies yesterday. I was tempted, but decided I really don't need any more. I need to use the ones I have.

Lyn, I thought it was supposed to be warm in TX? What's that all about? Hope you can find a place closer to your house for Gary.

Maryz, what a shame about Chickies shop. She's sure had her share of bad luck. Glad it didn't take the house. I love that name Pancakes. The fun part of the mittens is embellishments. I didn't follow the instructions and went rouge. I actually didn't know there was directions for that until you said something. haha

Tinab, stay home. No need to be out it that mess unless you absolutely have to.

Lois, I like to make gingerbread houses, but not a big fan of the cookie itself.

Judi, did you make the cookies?

I had PT this morning followed by a phone appointment with the finanial guy. Then Jack had his laser treatment. I am done with appointments and have no plans. Might find another small project to make as a gift. I did get some cards envelopes address last night as well. I can always work on those. I posted a picture of my "Joy" pillow in photos. Dinner will be leftovers from last night.

Have a lovely day.
