Good morning,
Today it's cold outside it's your typical black Friday weather when you would go out to see if you can get the bargains I remember those days I would go out to Joann's fabrics and get the 99 cents a yard flannel and any other bargains then head to Rosie's house where we would meet up with Dolores and others and go to flemington have breakfast then go to the outlets and shop those were the good old days.
Today I will be home but I got an email from the fabric warehouse so I already asked to go so I will go there I came across a pattern called be an elf for next year for everyone so I will try and get a good start on them it's a cute pattern.
I hope you all had a great thanksgiving mine was great and we have leftovers.
Have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good start to a beautiful sunrise here.
Lois--your day is packed with fun things. Where is this fabric warehouse you mentioned? The lqs is having 25% off today and tomorrow and I am tempted (but hope not to go.) I have enough fabric for the next few years to keep me busy. But still the urge is go is there.
Dinner was great my nephew was able to come at 5 so we all ate together. We "zoomed" with Dawn and Wayne and spoke to Piper and Lily also. Funny to talk to them and memories of them as babies flash in my mind. They all grew up behind my back.
Today I want to work on the Nativity wall hanging a little. Its from MS and so far it seems to be coming out pretty good. Hoping to start with Christmas bins from the attic.
If you are shopping today I hope you get great super sales
Hoping all enjoy the long weekend
Diane

Happy Black Friday to you all...I also used to shop Black Friday. I remeber one year my friend and her family came for Thanksgiving they spent the night and we sat up til 4 talking, and remembering our younger days,,,then we got the kids up and headed to the mall ( yes with 6 kids in total) It was crowded and we were insane back in those days...The 2 husbands stayed home to sit and drink coffee and never worried about us a bit...We vowed never to do that again and we never did.
I have 2 trees to still put up I will get the basement one up first since it is there ready to go. Probably left overs for supper.
We had a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner My son did a brined turkey that was so moist and tasty...and all the other food was fabulous...we all had food comas. Navy was her usual bossy self ( 3years old and knows it all.) It was good to be with family even if our Lions arent doing that well this year, I didnt watch but sat in the dining room and chatted with other non football folks.
I did get up this morning and after making the bed did buy one gift on the black friday sale that is probably all I will do. I got such a good deal I had to buy this item ( It was 62% off) I had shopped this item before and knew the actual price...
My favorite shopping day was always the day after Christmas,,,everything was at that time 50% off all the Christmas stuff...and I would buy cards and wrapping paper and lights and ornaments for the following year,,,now they dont do that any more..Christmas is 50% off starting in July...a shame I say.
Well I need to comb my hair get dressed and get this pony show on the road..
Have a wonderful day and those of you brave enough to go out be safe out there,,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,
Today is our Thanksgiving so I'll be getting pretty busy here in a few hours.
LOIS - I looked up your Be An Elf pattern. It's really cute. Your post sounded like you were going to make more than one of these?
DIANE - A few years ago I made a Nativity wall hanging from MSQC. It was designed by Debra Kunchinkski. It had three 3-D palm trees over the stable. But there were other Nativity patterns at MSQC. Which one are you doing?
VAL - Sounds like you had a nice TG. But sorry you had a headache. Was it a migraine? Have you ever considered that your long hair, especially when worn loose, could be a contributing factor. I've known a few people for whom that was the case. I did clean my sewing room, but now it's covered in wool, beads, DMC floss, and ceramic figures and paints. It didn't stay clean long!
CHRISS - how was your brunch? Bill would prefer his apple pie to be a crisp, too, so that is what I usually make. My favorite pie is sour cream lemon, though I love pumpkin, chocolate, and all the fruit pies. Even mincemeat. Guess you could say I love pie. Except for banana. I do not care for anything banana, though I'll eat it in a an emergency. And PLEASE do not quit your cardiac rehab, There is a good reason they order it. And six more sessions is a large portions of those sessions your cardiologist ordered. Don't be like your dad who won't sit down when ordered to keep his leg elevated. Lovingly, but firmly, signed, your friend, Mary, RN!!
LORI - are you still doing line dancing? I can't wait to get back out on the dance floor and I'll drag Mr Reluctant with me! I've got my mitten project pretty well kitted up. There were no directions. Did you just wing it? Did you fuse the mittens to the linen first and then do the embroidery stitching?
JUDI - I remember those days - the after Christmas sales. I was there, too! I miss them! Thanks for the update on Denise and Kathy. I'm sorry they don't feel like they have anything to say here. We talk about so many subjects! (though I notice as the years have passed, a lot of what we say now is health related as much if not more than quilting-related!) It's good to have invisible people to vent to.
LYN - how was your TG in your MH with Kaylyn? It doesn't really matter where we are or what we eat - it's who we're with that's important. I hope Garry continues to show improvement and the insurance approves further rehab. If they refuse, I know you'll be going up the ladder all the way to the insurance commissioner if necessary. They should come visit Garry in the rehab facility! And what is happening with the mail you receive at home (Texas house)? Are they holding it? Neighbors getting it? Do you prefer mail (talking Christmas cards here!) to go to your Rockport address? Or do you think the park address works, with your preferred address used as a return address? You have too many addresses!
MQ - So what did you end up having for your dinner last night? We had bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. Today is faucet day! It will be so nice to have it all finished and done with! You can dance around your kitchen with the sprayer! sprayers. I wish ours was on the right hand side, since I'm right handed, but it's on the left and the soap dispenser is on the right. Live and learn. And yes, our Christmas lights are on timers. He never got them up yesterday. I told him TODAY. Doyle and Susie are arriving at 2pm and I want LIGHTS. We've had several nice days this past month when he could have done them, when I asked him to, when he put them off, but now it's colder and wetter. So, did he win his little power struggle? I think not!
JANA - how was your gathering? How did Mr. G do? I bet he's exhausted, but enjoyed the family. What's on tap for you today?
FLO - how are the pups doing? Do you feed them together or separate them? They will soon be best friends.
Uh-oh, the internet is slowing way down - Black Friday internet shopping? Isn't that supposed to be on Cyber Monday? Yesterday was quiet here. I did a bit of cleaning - everything on my list. Bill the procrastinator, still has outdoor lights to put up - but not a biggie. Just toss them over the rhodies. I usually do it and it only takes me 30 minutes. All the other lights on the roofline are up and on.
I finally got a start on painting my Nativity figures. Kind of fun. I just put in my audio book - a Christmas time cozy murder mystery by Krista Davis - and get into the painting zone. I did get my mitten project kitted up though I'm not sure how to proceed. I guess I'll feel my way. Still working on my CW's in the TV evenings. I haven't touched my cross stitch in months. My eyes are so bad right now, a possible side effect of the medication I'm on. I hope it's not permanent! So X-St is off my craft table for now. And as for actual machine sewing - nothing going on. I'm sort of in a holding pattern on that until after my surgery and recovery. Then - watch my smoke! I miss it!
Our company will be arriving around 2pm. They are bringing dessert. Lara is bringing asparagus and fruit salad. I'm doing turkey breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing. And the usual cranberries, three kinds of olives, and 2 kinds of pickles. No one will starve. We also have wine, and we found a special bottle of port for after dinner. I predict a lovely day here!
If you're going out shopping today - I hope you get all the deals you are looking for!

Good morning!
It's a warm before the storm morning here. We may finally get snow on the valley floor by Sunday.
I never have got up early to shop on Black Friday! Except to work it. I worked in a fabric shop and it was a madhouse ! We were literally walled in by bolts of fabric, standing on the floor, where we were cutting. It was too busy to try to put back all the fabric! I was in charge of a wall of fabric, four bolts high and about 20 feet long. It was miscellaneous fabric, prints, stripes, etc that was my job to keep in color order. Starting in the upper corner shelf with whites, running back and forth down to the bottom corner of Black. Every group of a color, was also together, running from light to dark. It was a job keeping it all straight and the corporate suits would show up every so often and check on the shop. And make sure that wall of fabric was right. Well you can imagine what it looked like after a black Friday sale! Took me a long time to get itback in order! Do you remember when fabric stores, would take the bolts of fabrics and fold out a piece, to drape over the top of each bolts, like a flag! You reached under that drape to see the top of the bolt for the price per yard. I was very happy when shops stopped folding out that drape and pin the fabric now! Also, here's a trick I know about how much fabric is left on a bolt. If you look at the top of the bolt and see as it's wrapped around, those folds there, take and count those folds at the top, and every 2 folds, on one side, is about a yard. 10 folds, equals, about 5 yards. That way, you can tell if there's enough for what you need. That came in handy, when a customer wanted a large amount, so we'd count, before unrolling the whole bolt. Saved us time in re-rolling a bolt of fabric. Also, if you look on the selvage edge and see all those dots of color, those dots tell you what colors are in that piece of fabric. That way gives you help in choosing coordinating colors for a quilt. Makes it a bit easier to create a masterpiece!
Dinner was yummy yesterday. As Sarah and the girls got the dishes and kitchen clean, she started her stock pot full of the bones to make stock. Tradition! Takes us 24 hours for a deep rich, yummy stock for our dish called noodles. My kids say that is the best part of Thanksgiving! Work to make the hand rolled, hand cut noodles, but worth it!
So it'll be sewing today. One college game to watch, early. I need to play nurse and remove the bandage on Mr G's wrist, where the stent entered. Hopefully, no bleeding when I do. On blood thinners, that's a possibility.
Hugs,
Jana

I'm back because I wanted a second cup of coffee and someone to chat with.
JANA - not sure if you're rooting for snow or not, but I guess it doesn't matter. You're going to get it - or not. Yep, I knew about measuring fabric by the folds and also the colored dots on the selvage, though I have such a large stash now I am usually just looking for one fabric when I'm buying new stuff. Not many places left to buy new stuff now. Tacoma has Shibori Dragon still (I think) though they gave up half of their rented space. And we have tiny Sew Hip in Gig Harbor. And the little bit Michaels now sells. I would LOVE your noodles in turkey broth. I love making pasta the way you described - my mom's way. But the smell of cooking the carcass to make broth makes Bill sick. He doesn't know why - he likes the soup but can't stand the smell of making the broth. I finally gave up on it.

Good Morning
I'll be back later.... have to go finished getting ready for plumber to arrive with parts to fix my kitchen faucet! YEAH!!! I'm showered and dressed, but have a wet head and need to go blow dry!!
See you later
12:31 CST
I'm back... I HAVE RUNNING WATER.... in the kitchen sink! Who knew that such a little thing could make a person so happy! No more washing dishes in the laundry tub!!
Lois... YEAH you scored a good deal on fabric!!! I suppose all the reds and greens are low in stock because of all the Christmas sewing every has been doing! My fabric warehouse rarely, if ever has a "sale" sometimes they will put kits on sale, but never the regular fabric!
Diane... You got the MSQ Nativity templates too? I have my wall hanging all made too, but some how got distracted by other projects and haven't finished it yet. (Imagine that!

) wouldn't take long to finish if I put my mind to it. Yeh, how is it that those kids grow up so darn fast!!
Judi.... I'm with you... the day after Christmas---wrapping paper, cards etc all 1/2 price. But I don't need that much of that stuff any more so I stay away on that day! I do love a good sale, but it seems like now all through December there's lots of 1/2 off thing. Hobby Lobby has had 1/2 off Christmas since Halloween I think. HL might have 75% off Christmas after... like all their fall stuff was the last time I was there. That might be worth a trip!!
Maryz.... Last nights dinner was leftover Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken. Don't get excited--it was bag of frozen stuff I got at Target!! But it was pretty darn good. Your dinner today sounds wonderful---except for the asparagus! I need to get groceries next week and think I'll get myself a small turkey breast--already have the cranberry sauce on hand!! I could eat that stuff out of the can!!
Jana... Once you work in retail for a while, you kind of lose that "gotta go shopping" idea on Black Friday. I'm getting so I'm not crazy about large crowds and full parking lots. All the madness.... nothing I need that badly!
Valerie... How is David doing after his fall off the ladder?
Chriss... So far I'm loving my sink!! Love the deep side for soaking pots and pans! I'll have to look for the stainless cleaner. I have pretty hard water so I'm going to keep a spray bottle with vinegar close by to keep the spots at a minimum!
Haven't done much around here today. I did watch a tutorial the other night on Youtube for making a quilt from a layer cake---trying to use them up! So I grabbed one and now have the blocks made--just need to throw together and see what happens! Need to run down to kids house and check on the cat this afternoon--tho I might wait until supper time and drive through McDonalds or Dairy Queen or Chipotle for supper!
Back to work..............

Maryz, apparently there are directions. I had them in the original package. I never use them with wool projects. If you have an email address, I can scan them and send them to you. PM me if you do. Our line dancing got cut short. The instruction fell ill and was unable to return, so no dancing right now. We are looking for another place. She's supposed to teach again in the new year, so we'll see if that happens.
Lois, that's a lot of fabric. Glad it was something you needed.
Maryq, oh yes, running water is a fabulous thing. You don't realize it until you don't have it. We are very spoiled in this day and age.
Jana, I bet it was crazy working black Friday in a quilt shop. I did know about the folds and gauging how much. One of my friends works at the LQS.
Judi, 6 kids to shop on black Friday sounds like a nightmare.
I don't do shopping on Black Friday. There's just nothing I want or need that much. We had a nice dinner yesterday, but will go back to our old ways next year. DIL just wanted to try it out. I had an appointment to put the checking account into the trust this morning. It took over 2 hours. Why does it take so long?! Came home and had some lunch and worked on the puzzle a bit. It's only 3 colors and is a bit of a challenge. I also shipped of a box of goodies to Jonathan in TX. A little pre Christmas fun box. Don't know what I will do now, but I'll find something.
Have a lovely day.
