Morning
Velvet, I'm feeling good. Still cancer free, but feeling my age. I've slowed down, but haven't stopped.
Maryz, the more Joe gets into the motor of kids van, the angrier he gets. Hopefully heads will go to machine shop on Monday.
Today it's back to my blackberry vines.
Flo

Good morning
MARYZ--I had to read twice your note from Flo. Who's heads are you sending to the shop?? What shop? Metal or mental? LOL This made my day
Should be a quiet day here with warm weather and plenty of sun, I hope.
I'll check back later to catch up, I smell the coffee calling me.

Good morning,
I keep waking up at 3am. Ugh! But I got the dishwasher emptied, re-loaded, and kitchen cleaned! So I made good use of the time, anyway. Yesterday was a very busy day. Lots of cooking - on my feet. Lots of trips outside to watch the tree action (Pictures posted). Some work on my CW's, some by candlelight as our power was down for 2 hours. I was worn out. Today - no plans! However, the days do seem to take on a life of their own and get filled up whether I make plans or not!
CHRISS - that was a scary episode for you and for your dad! Glad you two have each other to watch out. Have you ever discussed where Judi will go if your dad is ever unable to care for her? What promising news about that experimental drug your friend tried! Wouldn't it be wonderful if it proves to be the miracle drug! And yep, those Amara Snacks are made just for our little girl. She loves them! I see them at Costco. They are tasty and melt in your mouth. I could eat an entire envelope in no minutes flat! Have you gone into your sewing room just to fondle your fabrics, or sat and looked at some of your patterns or projects? You never know - it might jumpstart your interest.
LYN - how is Garry doing today?
LOIS - what is the problem with Mary? Some of those cuts can be so confusing! I do understand giving her a time out!
LORI - sorry about the cold hanging on. Tell your hubby that the length of this cold will inversely affect the contents of his Christmas stocking.
JANA - routine is so important! Is he good with letting you handle the meds now? I love snickerdoodle muffins. I only make them for special occasions - like if Gene visits. Sounds like your dental appt turned into quite an ordeal. Was it painful?
MARY Q - yep! I took pictures! And shared a few here and added one more this morning of Lee and the mud wallow we now have. It was an interesting day. Was your weather yesterday really that nice?? We were about 54* and solid rain all day long. The poor tree crew was soaked! I made hot coffee and treats for them as soon as the power was back on. Kids park on a cement slab on the south side of our detached shop - bordering Vicki's property. (see the mud wallow pic to jog your memory). The tree actually fell onto Vicki's property. You've made that silhouette Nativity scene? I watched MSQC's video. It's very pretty but I'm not understanding why you would need to purchase plastic templates. Wouldn't a paper pattern work as well if they printed one? Isn't that how we usually do applique? Hope you got to see Kevin yesterday!
DIANE - you seem to be doing well! Yay!!
JUDI - how was the wedding?
FLO - did you get all those blackberry vines cut? Were you trimming your 'tame' ones in your garden or wild ones trying to take over your property? We have the wild ones. They are considered a noxious weed here and I wage a constant battle against them. Though if they are out in the sun, they do give us berries. We have Cascade and Himalaya varieties.
VAL - are you happy to be home? I hope your trip was uneventful and you got that bath. Have you talked to Tony since you left him?
Yesterday isn't finished yet. Our tree crew will be back on Sunday to buck up the logs into rounds for splitting. We have more trees to come down but maybe next week . . .Today is Merwyn's (tree guy) 76th birthday so he's not working today. Can't believe he is that old and still doing this very difficult job. He's been cutting our hazardous trees for nearly 25 years. He and his helper were appreciative of the banana bread I made them and texted a thank you after he got home last night. (he lives about 45 miles away). And . . . he sent a recipe for his all time favorite bread! So guess what I'll be baking today - orange glazed cranberry pumpkin pecan bread.
I plan to sew on my table runner today - got the tedious part done. I just can't handle sitting, ironing, cutting, up/down/up/down for more than an hour or so right now so it's taking me a long time to do this project, which is OK because at the moment I have no other project planned. Guess I should pull out some of the patterns I've purchased recently but never got around to making - maybe something will strike me.
We had spaghetti last night and Bill wants it again tonite, so supper is taken care of. Just cook more pasta and toss a fresh salad.
Have a great day!

Thank you all for your prayers
Chriss, I hope your Dad is OK.
Yesterday Garry's speech wasn't as good. They got him up and walked about 10 feet. His glucose is higher than they want, even though they have him on a low carb diet. He's eating 3 meals a day, at home he eats 2 because he sleeps til noon. Nurse said the extra meal may be causing the problem. Granddaughter, Kaylyn, got off work early and drove up, it's a 2 hour drive. Capt Grandpa was happy to see her, me too!! Kaylyn and I were going to get dinner and just as we were leaving I decided to check Garry's hearing aid batteries, on his phone app. They were dead, from being in consent since Wednesday. So I told the nurse we'd bring batteries back after our dinner. We got back just as a nurse was taking Garry out of his room. They do a stroke assessment test several times a day and they didn't like the changes, so she was taking him to get a new CT scan. Kaylyn and I came home. His nurse called after 10 and read the report, which said no change from first scan. That was good news. I chose the rehab that the hospital owns, it's the closest, 46 miles from the house. Have to wait for insurance approval, so he's there until Monday or longer.
Time to wake Kaylyn and get back to the hospital.

Good Morning, I knoq its after 9 but we didnt get home till midnight, Well it was 1130 but by the time I took some tylenol and got jammies it was 12. We woke at 8 but had our morning chat before getting out of the warn bed, My room is 62 at night so the warm bed in very inviting, I feel like half the day is gone though,
The wedding was beautiful and the venue "The Whitney" was absolutely amazing...There was a chacuterie table with fruit and cheeses and veggies. Open Bar and waiters with various horedorves ( didnt spell that right either) walking around Bacon wrapped scallops, Beef tenderloin with horsradish on toast, Shrimp of all kinds, spinach pie wraps all in bite sized. A very tasty wedding cake and a dessert table. Although it wasnt a whole meal it was certainly enough food. My kids all were there with their spouses so we had fun with them there was a live band playing a lot of Motown with a singer, it was very loud but the youngers were having fun, We walked around the mansion a bit and it is breathtaking, After we left and went to the casino in downtown Detroit...Also a lot of fun, We came out with a $300 profit...not bad for a nights work. But I wouldnt want to do it often, My son in law is very entertaining at the casino. How loves showing us old folks how it is done and it seemed to work fine...
Well today bck to the real world...Ken will be working on the finishing of the bar and the clean up. I will work on the sun room windows, some sort of soup will be on the books for supper...
We did get our bar stool delivered for the bar and the packing came with large sheets of styrofoam...We all know how bad that stuff is for the land fills...SO i took several sheets about 1ft by 2 1/2 ft and wrapped them with left overt batting and made a couple of design boards. just using straight pins to secure. I did use double stick tape to secure . the result are a nice board to lay out blocks and pieces of project on my work table...It 2 inch height of the board is easy on the wrists as I work. and the pieces stick to the batting so they can be moved with out losing the piece best of all they were free, I can even take them to my tv chair and do something while I watch....eventually they will need to be discarded but for right now they have a new life...I stashed the left over sheets to find another use for them...
Well I need more coffee and get rolling here,,
Prayers for Garry and anyone else facing needs this day....XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning!
I seem to get blue sky in the morning and later the clouds roll in. Snow/rain later today.
Have a run down to the pharmacy to pick up prescription and get another renewed. Tried the phone service, but the online fake person, the computer they use, doesn't have that number. It doesn't matter what prescription I want, the online assistant doesn't work. So a trip down to the store. At least the pharmacy is here in town. Humm, maybe I'll get a doughnut out of this excursion. Highlander is hungry too.
Worked, not played in the Batt Cave yesterday. I have two large freezers and one on the bottom of my old refrigerator, so I started cleaning them out and getting things in the right one. The freezers are named, Fred, Ethel and Lucy. If I keep them orderly, Mr G gets stuff needed out of them. I just tell him which, by name and which shelf, then he can find it. So my helpful kids don't pay attention and just put frozen stuff in any spot. I then go and fix it later, which 8 haven't been doing, hence a big job yesterday. The kids do pay attention to where the ice cream goes! Grandma always has those treats! Only rule is make sure to close the freezer door!
Aaron so far seems to be enjoying his new job. His friend is one of the company's big white and is inviting Aa to lunch or one of his friend's presentations. We have a old saying in this house, never let the principal know your name. Well, the principal knows Aaron, well, and is constantly introducing him to the very big white of this company. Aaron is just a lowly new hire, 2 weeks, doing cyber security work. Entry level! Aaron had no idea that his old friend even worked for this company when Aaron applied. They just ran across each other in the lunch room. This company provides lunch, cooked by a professional chef. Not your run of the mill cafeteria.
The dds appointment was just tiring, no pain what so ever. The pain part is long over and done with.
I'll be in the Batt Cave 8n a few minutes, putting the pieces parts to one of the JA blocks on my portable flannel boards. These are the ones that Lori Holt uses. Sarah and I made our own and they are great. Flannel on one side, so the pieces stick. We used foam board, flannel and sewed a binding around each board to keep it all together.. we made several sizes of boards to hold different block sizes.
Well, time to scoot,
Glad to see the report for Garry,
Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good morning ladies, I am home and plan to stay for a long time. May go back in February when he sees his surgeon again. He has been referred to a medical oncologist who will determine his needs for chemo and/or radiation. The new doctor feels he is somewhere in the middle as far as risk for recurrence. He has friends there that could alternate taking him to town for chemo if needed.
I am still not unpacked. Yesterday was just a do nothing day. Today though I will start back to my chores, unpacking and will go to the Vacaville shop and pick up the Sunflower quilt so I can bind it and get it in the mail. Then pick up where I left off on everything else.
The weather has turned here. It is no longer warm and we are headed for a few days of rain maybe. It doesn't look like any big storms though.
Lyn I am hoping and praying that Gary will get the rehab he needs so he can go back home. It's a long road but is attainable.
Chriss glad Dad seems to be okay. It is scary when our aging parents have health problems.
Judi sounds like an excellent menu for the wedding. I have not been to a wedding in quite a while.$300 profit sounds wonderful.
Maryz Tony did call me on Thursday on my way home. The nurse did come and out and told him he was doing good and didn't need regular visits. Haven't heard from him anymore. HIs sister contacted me yesterday as she lives about an hours from MSQC and wants me to come visit. I will do that someday but not anytime soon. I have to replan that whole trip and I am not going to do that right now. Wow 76 and still falling trees!? Hope he can still run fast.
Well I really do have a lot to do and I feel I am needing to push myself to get started. Sure wish I could just wiggle my nose and it all go into place. Have a great Saturday everyone.

Good Morning Girls
Ok, so it's Saturday and you know that means it's chore day---but guess what I Ain't Doing it!

Oh I'll clean up some dirty dishes in the sink but the rest of day I'll be trying to wrestle the squirrels that are running around here!
Flo.... What wonderful news that you are cancer free!!! I watch a gal on Youtube "Christine's Home Affairs" All sorts of fun things to make. She was diagnosed in February and made a separate channel on Youtube for her cancer journey. Quite inspirational. She showed a video of them cutting her waist length hair off before chemo! She just announced that she is now cancer free as well! What wonderful news!
Diane.... Ahhhh the wonderful aroma of fresh brewed coffee!!! Only thing better is frying bacon!
Maryz.... I checked out the pictures and I'm trying to wrap my head around the direction you were standing. Is the house on the "back side" of the garage from where you were standing? Always sad to lose a good tree, but best to take it down before it falls---on the garage!! It was awesome here yesterday 67* sunny!!! I didn't get to meet Kevin for lunch because he ended up having to work.... on the rare beautiful days the golf course has to be open !! For sure a paper pattern for the Nativity Scene would have been so much easier! But MSQ is really into the plastic templates. I think Viv has almost all of them! That new bread recipe sounds delicious! Was just thinking this morning that I need to get some flour to start making Mom's cranberry bread!
Lyn.... Am not sure exactly how your insurance works, but as a general rule Medicare covers so many days in a SKILLED NURSING facility---which is way different from Assisted living. Your United insurance probably picks up the extra stuff, after the Medicare deductibles. Hope you found a good place, though its a bit of a drive. You have to get a "pre-authorization"? That's crazy!!! I knew a guy once that fell of his roof and the insurance company didn't want to cover his care because he didn't get "prior auth" Like he should have PLANNED to fall off the roof and made arrangements with the hospital first!! Don't get me started on health insurance companies!! Have you ever heard of Dr. Elizabeth Potter----???
Judi.... I too, had to google Whiney Mansion. What an awesome place to have a wedding! Sure beats the Holiday Inn where I had my reception!

So do you and Ken split the $300 you won ?

. So glad you were able to repurpose the Styrofoam, not that I'm a huge environmentalist, but I sure hate stuff ending up in landfills, unnecessarily! The Christine's Home Affairs that I watch gets a lot of fabric that would end up in landfills. Her husband has his own Youtube channel on repurposing things. They are in Australia and very interesting to watch!
Jana.... Don't you miss the days when you could call somebody and a real person would answer the phone? But then the Walgreens and CVS's would never get anything done all day----their days would be spent answering the phone! We never had that automatic thing at our drugstore-- in fact, we had a customer that would call, I'd be able to recognize his voice, and he'd say " I need a refill on my little pink pill" and I knew exactly which one he needed! Kind of miss those days, but am SO glad I'm not in it anymore! I made a pile of those Lori Holt boards a few years ago! They sure come in handy with blocks that are little pieces!!
Valerie.... SO glad to hear that you are home and will be tucked in there for a while!! Once you get your bearings ago I bet you'll be ready to dig into another project and play with your new machine. I bet you haven't had much time to really learn/test out all its bells and whistles!
Chriss.... How is Dad today??? Did they get his BP down. What awesome news for your friend with Alzheimers!!! I should tell my neighbor Peggy about it--as Gary has Alzheimers and she can see him declining a little bit--not huge but small changes. I haven't opened the sink box yet, I just shoved in my storage closet. I'm hoping that they can come the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to do the countertops! Crossing my fingers!!
Lori.... The way I figure it.... every day we have without a snow storm, brings us closer to spring! Ok, a little snow would be nice at Christmas, after that, I'm done with it. The first Christmas I was in my townhouse, I had a 36" snow drift out my front door! Kevin shoveled a path through it to get to the door! I'd be very happy if we didn't have repeat of that!
My kitchen looks like a Hobby Lobby or Michaels has exploded in it! I've been working on various little crafty projects for our association Christmas party! There is glitter everywhere! You know how fun that is to clean up! Since it was so nice yesterday I did go out in garage a bit yesterday and moved something around. Looked in a few tote boxes and pulled out some fabric that KC had given me and will finally do something with that, nothing fancy, just simple blocks! Easy and Fast!!
So, off I go to refresh my coffee and get to work.
Wishing you all a great Saturday! (Skip the chores and go play!)

Good evening. I am not convinced that we saw 60* today. It's been foggy all day. The for just recently lifted but not enough for me to walk down and get the mail. It's getting dark.
Richard has a half-brother and a stepbrother living sort of near here. There was a bridal shower to attend and Gloria was there and Rich brought Elliott here. I followed that little cutie pie all over the house. We played chase Elliott, kiss Elliott's neck, and turned on every light in the house because he pointed at them and wanted them on. We also played roll the ball and sang wheels on the bus. And I don't care what anyone says, I picked him up and held him tight more than once. They invited me over for dinner, but the fog is so thick I won't drive in it and even though Rich offered to come get me I told him I didn't want him driving in it. They live about 20 to 30 minutes from here.
Raising kids has changed over the years. I don't agree with everything the kids are doing but keep my mouth shut and go along. Today Rich thanked me for following his rules. I told him as long as he communicates the rules I will follow them. There are some new-fangled philosophies out there, but I bet that happens often over the years.
Flo, sure wish I lived closer, I'd come get some blackberry cuttings. I've always thought it would be neat to have berry bushes along the fence. Jerry didn't want them because snakes eat berries. Well they eat squirrels too, but we have plenty of those. So glad you are still cancer free, high five.
Maryz, orange glazed cranberry pumpkin pecan bread. Sort of sounds a little sinful. Something Lois's flamingoes might eat, they were brazen birds. I'll have to go back and read about the Nativity Silhouette pattern. I love that Amara gets her own personalized snacks.
Lyn, how is Garry? Was he able to get into the facility you were looking at? I wonder what his meals consist of at the hospital. They would feed me almost nothing but carbs then give me an insulin shot. And dinner always had dessert, apple pie filling from a can. Breakfast had no meat. Very frustrating. I think Kaylyn is a dream grandkid. What a sweetie to travel so far to spend time with her grandparents. Sneak in a hug from me. My dad is doing better, still has high blood pressure but not way high. I'm going to make a couple of meals to take to them tomorrow, they are having my leftover pot roast tonight. I also made some deviled eggs.
Judi, it wasn't after 9am when you posted here, it was almost 7. So glad you had fun at the wedding, a chacuterie table is very cool. Woo hoo for winning $300. I bet that was fun. Also cool on making a block board out of that Styrofoam.
Jana, I made some of those portable flannel boards too. They are great. Seems that drug stores are becoming a thing of the past here. I now get my prescriptions at Costco. Not overjoyed at that but there are only two other stores i town that do them.
Valerie, so glad you are home. And also glad Tony's nurse showed up. Hoping everything gets better for him and you don't have to go there in February.
Maryq, I hope those counters get installed before TG too. Are you cooking? I don't think TG is happening here, I will take something to the parents house, maybe a Costco chix pot pie.
Dinner tonight was leftover bacon, cheese, deviled eggs and an avocado. Now I get to put on my jammies and wash some dishes. Hope you girls have a great night.
Chriss
