TUESDAY, November 11th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Nov 11, 2025 5:02 am

Good morning,

Today is official Veteran's Day. Let's celebrate all of our veterans for all they risk and sacrifice to keep us free. And that's a big job and getting bigger all the time! My 3 brothers, my sister, my sis-in-law, and two sons-in-law are all veterans. God bless them, because He certainly blessed us with them! 💗

JANA - I hope you can wind up your dental work soon. If I remember correctly, I had to wait 8 months to get the final crowns on my implants. White cake with lemon curd filling - my all time favorite!!

VAL - Two more sleeps!

MARY Q - happy heavenly birthday to your dad! Is there anyone in your family who WASN'T born in November? :D Glad to hear Katy is fine. What work is she doing on her house now? Were you able to help Peggy with her sewing machine?

LYN - Bill loves Whataburger, too! He likes the burgers and I like the spicy chicken sandwich. But we only allow ourselves one or two stops each winter. We usually go to the one on 620 across from HEB in Lakeway. Maybe we can meet there at 1 o'clock next November? ;)

LOIS - I wish all our old friends would come back, too. With Sharona and Chickie, it's health problems. Not sure why Cindy and Sue have left us. Cindy has had two joint replacements since we've seen her last. She and Sue get together every Wed to quilt. But do you realize, only about ten of us post regularly, but between 150 and 350 folks read our forum every day?

JUDI - We were watching The Five yesterday and they mentioned the Edmund Fitzgerald. No luck getting a final jersey for your quilt? How long will you have to wait to snag Liam's?

Yesterday I sorted the last of all our Christmas stuff. My final tote count is 11. Plus a few odd sized things and my dishes. I'm putting out very little this year. But it was good to revisit all my holiday treasures and reorganize them for storage! Today, we are putting the deck cushions and large rug away for the winter. The party is over. :( Bill has an ultrasound at noon. And his sister & DBIL are coming mid-afternoon to get our large recliner. That will be the last of our old furniture gone finally. I did make a crockpot of broccoli cheddar soup yesterday and it was really good. I'd never made it before. We have plenty left over so we can offer some to Bill's DS & DBIL when they are here. I hope to get a little time in my sewing room today, but then I wish that every day, but seems I'm either too busy, too tired, or too achy.

If I could please ask for a few prayers - my DB, Gene, is back in the hospital. According to my niece, he has a blocked neck vein, they think he's had a small stroke, plus he also has a liver infection. He is in ICU in Fairbanks at the moment. Thanks.

Have a purrfect day!

Good Morning It is still cold here but no more snow so far. Much of it melted in the sun shine yesterday, but still some in the shady parts of the yard, e now have a mixture of yellow maple leaves and white snow...its not that pretty right now...but fear not..Mother Nature is off her meds,,,we will get to 60 again next week.
I talked to Liam and he will ask the coach for a jersey, He said there are a bunch of them in the locker room. But I told him in no uncertain terms is he to just grab one. He has to ask the coach first...( other wise the quilt will be cursed,,,HAHA) He is very superstitious.
Today I have a few phone calls to make, and a run to the store for eggs,,,the hens around here have stopped laying so I have to go to the real store and get them.. I usually can snag them from the farms around here,
I have no chores today I will try to work on the Birthday gift for my friend Gloria she is coming along with her t shirt quilt...I have asnwered a few text from her and gave her suggestions on how to procede.I keep telling her it is her quilt to make it how she likes it...but she is not a quilter. She has asked me to make a label so I might have to get the embroidery machine up and running,,,to make a few labels,,,I am really behind on that,,,
Well hope all of you have a great day Prayers for Gene, and anyone else that needs them...

Good morning,

Well a nurse was to come yesterday. She was a no show, no call, no nothing. The lady who set it up is to call today so we will let her know. I sure wish he would move to town but no, not happening. He did change the bag by himself yesterday and so far so good. His skin cleared up pretty good. Hoping he can keep it that way. Still not taking his meds unless I remind him so that won't happen when I leave. They are set up in a med box, best I can do.

Maryz sorry to hear your DB is ill. I will say a prayer for him.

I have put my machine and stuff away. Will do laundry today and maybe start loading the car. Tomorrow 2 doctor appointments. PCP and surgeon. Not the one who did the surgery though. We have not been able to get any back story on that yet.

Made some lentil soup yesterday. Didn't have a big enough pot so it's more like stew. It's missing about 4 cups of chicken broth. Oh well, still tastes good. Not sure what is for dinner tonight.

46 outside. Should get to the high 70s. They are predicting cooler weather by Thursday. Just in time for me to have a rainy 🌧 drive home. But that's okay. I really am tired of this LV heat.

Not much else happening here. Off to get more coffee. Have a great day everyone.

Cool morning, but we'll start warming up to our fall temps.

Veteran's Day, a time to Thank those who have and are serving and protecting our Country. Garry did 2 tours during Vietnam on the USS Coral Sea. DB2, Lanny was a Crew Chief and gunner on a helicopter in Vietnam and still carrys shrapnel. BD1, Larry was headed to Vietnam but was sent to S. Korea after N. Korea captured the USS Pueblo. Larry is a helicopter pilot and when our men were finally released, Larry was one of the pilots that picked them up and brought them to S. Korea. My DBIL, Red was also in the Navy.

MaryZ, Praying for Gene and family. A future Whataburger date sounds purrfect.

Lois, I hope you get the quilt done in time.

Judi, Getting the last jersey will have you on the way to loading that top soon. Looking forward to seeing a photo.

The movie, Sarah's Oil, was very good. We haven't been to a theater in probably 10 years. They sure have fancy seats now.

Have to load and start the dishwasher. Start some laundry, too. Hopefully I can get to the Cabin this afternoon. Oh, need another package of brackets for the bookshelf. I forgot there's 5 shelves.

Thank You to all your family and friends who have served our Country.
Have a sew good day.
Lyn

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served. Many thanks to all of those in the armed services now in these troubled times. I appreciated your love of county and dedication to make the country safe for us all.
Skipped exercise again to get a handle on stuff we need to take care of in the house. DH may be realizing how much of a commitment 5 hours a day has impacted stuff. Did some mending yesterday, have to patch some batting to make a full batting for quilt tying on Thursday. Will be relying on my built up stash of tops for this month and next. Really don't like that but have not got any tops made in over 2 months and that is really fraying my edges. Snow still around in the shady parts of the yard. Really need to trim bushes a tiny bit before putting lites on and cut grass/ pick up leaves. Looks like Thursday thru Sunday will be warm so the last of windows and garden stuff to be accomplished too.
Off to dentist soon, so have to make myself presentable. Then to grocery store for carrots as I am attempting ham and navy bean soup for dinner. Will see how it turns out.
Blessings love and prayers to all in need.
Take care,
TinaB

Good morning!

Cold, but beautiful and sunny. I could go with white stuff on the ground, just not the roads!

Yes, thank a Veteran and all those serving now! Mr G also did two tours in Vietnam, and was in the large battle named the Tet Offensive. He handed off shells, bombs and fuel to many ships, including the USS Coral Sea. He served on the USS Mattaponi. His dad was a purple heart recipient from wounds he sustained in the first wave of Marines on Iwo Jima.

I have three shirts to iron this morning. That won't take long. Longer for the iron to heat up! Then I can sew in the happy place. My friend will be over tomorrow. I think I teach her how to cut and sew a log cabin block. I think that's easy to start with.

Daniel appeared at 6 am today, and tried to sneak in and put out the flag in the front yard. My door lock gave him away, as it makes noise as the deadbolt moves. He's such a good boy!

Now the teeth saga. I did call, Dr is out until Thursday. So they squeezed me in to take the final scans and measurements for the permanent ones. The permanent ones will be made and back to me, in one to two weeks more. You know where that puts it, Thanksgiving! Turkey dinner is looking like I get potatoes and gravy! Ugggh, not a happy camper here! Rather grouchy! But it is what it is! Added to my prayers is the lab isn't busy and they will get done.

Gotta scoot,
Hugs and lots of prayers for all y'all!

Good Morning Girls

Most definitely today will be in honor of all our Veterans. May we always continue to thank them for their service! I have a few in my family as well... Dad, Ensign, US Navy--- a flight instructor during WWII. My Nephew, Matthew USN, and nephew Kyle US Army!

Maryz.... I'll send more than a few prayers for Gene today!!! ALL day long I'll be thinking of him.
Oh yes, lots of November birthdays...Me, my Dad, my Mom, my sister, Shawn & Kevin, a nephew (Matthew) and a niece (Kayla) As I've mentioned----it's cold in February in Minnesota! It sounded like Katy has a lot of yard work to do, her sister is helping her with somethings, but she's going to hire a helper. She also mentioned getting the whole inside of the house freshly painted---not a job us old ladies should be doing--climbing on a ladder. Yup, got Peggys machine fixed--I think.. She was having trouble getting a new needle back in place, but we got it! Please thank your family members for their service.

Lois.... Please also thank Bill for his service. Do you remember studying all about WWII when you were in school? I wonder if the Viet Nam war is studied in school these days. Quite a difference in how our servicemen and women were treated between those two wars. If you haven't read the book "The Women" by Kristin Hannah, I highly recommend it!

Judi.... Most definitely you don't want a curse on your quilt! In fact, I think the coach should give Liam an extra jersey and kind of "lay hands" on it and bless it.. just to make sure it doesn't cause you any problems when you are working on the quilt!! T-shirt quilts need all the divine help they can get!

Valerie.. .Does Tony have to take meds different times during the day? Are there meds he can take---say when he brushes his teeth before bed? Maybe he will connect that habit with taking the meds at the same time (that's kind of how I have to remember to take mine  ) Wonder what happened to the nurse? I like to give people the benefit of the doubt when they don't show, but you still should have gotten a phone call!!

Lyn... Garry was in the US Navy? Ask him if he ever heard of a ship... USS CARON (oh wait did I ask you this once already?) It was a frigate named for a distant relative of mine. My Dad was so proud of that--he ordered us all Ship Baseball caps! I think I still have mine somewhere. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Caron Please thank him for his service as well.

Tinab..... Tell me it isn't so.... You have unfinished quilt tops? I thought I was the only one that had a pile of them!!! Are your tops for your quilt project you do at your church? When Viv was here over the weekend, she picked up probably 8 quilts of mine to do on her LA. Most will go to the gal I met that supplies blankets and quilts for Cancer patients.

Jana.... Please thank Mr. G for his service as well. The Viet Nam vets sure did not get the honor and respect they deserved. Let's cross our fingers that your new teeth come in BEFORE thanksgiving... you don't want to have to put your turkey through a blender to be able to eat it!

Oh gosh..the clock is ticking here---at the same time I've been typing this, I've been googling other things (hence taking me twice as long to finish a post) I'm craving bean and bacon soup so had to go look up a recipe for it! For some reason I have a bag of beans in my pantry!

No place to go today, so I think I will just pick up one of my UFO's and play with that today. Once it gets a little warmer I may head out to the garage. Need to find some backing piece for said UFO!

Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday

Back from dentist and what I feared is true a crown! Boy are they expensive. Prep on that this Thursday and will get it beginning of Dec.
For me a stack of tops and backs are a good thing that means I am ahead of the game for the churches quilt tyers. I always have a surplus but lately my time for sewing is down so I am into my surplus.
I trying to make ham and bean soup tonight. That’s all for now, stay warm, give a hug of thanks to all the vets and spouse too for their service.
Stay warm and safe,
TinaB
