FRiday November 7th

Post by grammiequilts » Fri Nov 07, 2025 5:09 am

Good morning it is pouring rain here, not quilte light yet, I will be leaving in a little while it is the annual Hallmark Open house. I have a bunch of coupons and rewards to use, U always get my dancing snowmen for the year and this years is really cute. I have already run out of steps and they migrate up stair landing and where ever they will fit. I also pick up cards for the year and some special Christmas cards, then shop for any gifts I might need, But the Christmas stuff is the most fun,,,they are expensive but I have my Christmas savings,,,( Put away a little all year just for this).. Do you all rememebr Christmas clubs at the bank or credit union?,,,where you made a payment each week. (A predetermined amount) and you were able to withdraw it around thanksgiving, I dont think they do that anymore...but I have my own. And yes I will purge out some of my old stuff that has seen better days,,,( If I can bear to part with it)
I have about 19 shirts cut and ready to fuse,,Im not sure what the total will be still have shrts to go through, This was easier than I thought, But does take a lot of time, sorting and remembering,,,
Well hope you all have a great day,,,I do have house chores to do, and a grocery order to pick up. and might start laundry, but I think I will run out of hours...Hope you have enough hours in your day,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo .

Yesterday we watched National Treasure & Last of the Mohicans.
Today is laundry.

Good morning,

FLO - happy belated anniversary! Hard to believe how quickly the years can fly by. What a nice celebration for two you planned. What movie did you watch?

LORI - did I miss it?? What pattern did you trace and cut out? And as soon as you answer I'll probably slap my forehead and say, "oh yeah! Now I remember!". How frequently are your PT appts?

TINA B - your days and weeks sound full up! But with mostly fun stuff - the grands! You have five? It's been decades since I've been to a school concert or play. Normally we wait until Dec to put up our Christmas tree, but this year was different since we celebrated family Christmas with the A-Team - on Halloween! And since the tree (fake tree borrowed from our grandson who won't be home for Christmas this year) is already up and decorated, we're just leaving it.

MARY Q - We buy Miracle Whip, too, though I like both. But Bill prefers MW by far. So, who is going to actually install your dw? The counter people? Your son? Is the plumber coming back? How was Shawn's birthday party? Just family or was it a big whing-ding? Happy birthday to him!

LYN - counting red trucks would be good for Amara as long as there's no more than 11! I think she got sick because the day's ride was so long. But she got a popcicle out of the deal though, to replace fluids and she was happy about that! Hope you got my report on myself yesterday. You were right I guess - forgot to come back and finish my post-dr appt post. Did you make much progress on the cabin yesterday?

CHRISS - you might be right about dogs licking topical medications. Though that's not a problem here. Scottie never licks - he can't get through his long thick coat! What thoughts does Dad have on your oven space? Sheet pan suppers are the easiest of suppers. I cut veggies, potatoes, meat (I used chicken) into bite sized pieces and lay them on a cookie sheet. I like to use parchment paper on the sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and season as you like. I use lemon pepper or herbs de provence usually. And/or garlic. I bake at 350 for half hour.

JANA - how did Mr. G do with his MRI? If you didn't know of a specific reason, it was probably ordered as a baseline. I am having one in a couple of weeks, ordered by my back doctor, just for that reason - a baseline.

JUDI - how goes the tee blocks? The windows? The Christmas stuff? Do you bake a lot for the holidays? Never too early to get started. Have fun at the Hallmark open house! I sure miss our Hallmark. I haven't seen one around here for years. In high school, Autumn worked at our Hallmark. Her BFF's mom was the manager. And her co-worker, another student, was Missy Griffey, Ken Griffey, Jr's future wife. The girls dusted, and during the open house events, offered hot cider, carried things to the cash register, and in general helped customers. It was such a party!

LOIS - Another way to de-wrinkle batting is to hang it from a clothesline on a dry breezy day - if you have a clothesline.

Yesterday accomplished very little. I made my cheesecake in the morning, had my massage at 11am, and when I got home, sat in my chair to read and fell asleep for a couple of hours. Bill was in Tacoma getting the oil changed in the car. After supper we watched the Broncos/Raiders game, I slept through much of that, too! And then I slept mostly through the night! Guess I was tired and the massage did its good work.

Today I have a dexascan. After that I will probably hang out with the cat for a while in our sewing room and then we're going to our Supper Club dinner (4 couples) at the home of one of the other couples. A pretty quiet day here

Wishing all the best to all the best!

Beautiful sunny weather here in Myrtle beach.
FLO--HAPPY DAY LATE CONGRATS!!!!! I hope you had a great day. Its a lot of years and hope you continue for many many more with good health and happiness.

We are just waiting for Joes report to come in, hopefully next week. The time drags when waiting for results. I have 8 more radiation visits.

TINA-I don't know if I told you-your little quilt w/cross is in my pocket when I am having my radiation treatments. It brings me peace. Thank you!

I'll check back later after I get zapped.

Good morning!

Mr G and Sarah were gone 5 hours yesterday getting that MRI done. The hospital was running late and they had to check the pacemaker and turn it off for the test. Everything went fine. The Dr did a baseline MRI back when we had the heart surgery, so this was just a looky loo one to compare with the first. I was being slightly snarky, with saying, they were just reaffirming he has a brain. 😀

Daniel stopped by. Turns out one of the projects he's doing is at the hospital, building a new addition for two very fancy MRI machines. The building addition is over 100 million and each machine is close to that much money too. Daniel's speciality is hospitals and schools. Each has a very set of specific standards and requirements that have to be followed. Daniel has been building a air compressor set of gauges and controls for our garage compressor. It gets used all the time and the other manifold that Mr G built, years ago, developed a leak, so Daniel built a better and improved version. He'll install it this weekend and hang a set of pictures I made of patchwork roosters. I made these roosters several years ago and they hung in my kitchen. But when the floor was done, things got moved and so did the roosters. They have a new home in the kitchen, just up higher that I can reach. There's 4 framed roosters, each in a 18x24 barnwood frame. I also have a large decorative black metal plate rack, he'll put back up too. Same area. My rooster artwork I made from batiks I gathered for several years, saving the fabric for them. They are just fused in place, under glass. Really a easy project, just looks impressive. 😀

So not much here. Yoohoodi will run and I'll be in the Batt Cave. That's the plan. Costco was out of bulbs, but did have the Amaryllis bulbs. Love them - the bulbs are waxed, you just put them out, no fuss, no water, no nothing and they grow and bloom near Christmas. My kind of house plant. If it's not silk, I kill house plants. These grow in spite of me.

Enjoy the day,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning

A few new items on Tony's list. The ostomy is going but could be better. Part of the problem I think is the supplies they ordered are not the same as they taught him with. Most are close enough that people can interchange but at 79, this is hard. I called the company and explained what was happening and they will send some different items that may help. Then a letter came explaining the change in doctors with a name we have never heard of. He was able to call and hopefully that is straight now. We have received multiple calls regarding the videos but no actual video. He can use cellular data to watch them depending on how well the service is working
There is a cell tower out here but many times it is slow going.

I am going home on the13th. I have been here since around the 11th of September with just a couple of breaks. I need to get back to my life. He may do better with nobody else to depend on. He knows the basics. What he doesn't get is the importance of prompt attention. He will say he has to change his bag or empty his bag and then not do anything for several hours. By then, disaster has struck.

I did finish a good book, "Such A Nice Couple". Can't remember the authors name but good none the less.

Today I really want to vacuum and maybe a load of laundry. I still have another pillow case to make and a couple quilts I could work on.

Well off to another cup of coffee and some breakfast. Have a great day.

Good Morning Girls

Happy Friday.... but somehow my internal clock is off and it feels like Saturday to me! I'm glad it's not because that would mean it's chore day and I sure don't feel like washing floors and all that stuff again!!!

Judi.... Looks like it's going to start pouring rain here any minute too! We are in that ugly stage of the year, when all the pretty leaves have dropped and/or blown away and there is no snow. Looking ahead I don't see any snow in the forecast for the next 10 days---which is fine by me! You are so wise to put away Christmas money!!! I keep thinking I'm going to start automatically transfer money from checking to savings every month--just to build savings up for emergencies, but just as soon as I do.... a bill I didn't expect comes due! UGH!!! usually the darn car insurance!!

Flo.... Now that's going to be an awesome quilt for Joe----all his Sheriff Dept shirts!!! What a great heirloom too!

Maryz....The Plumbers will install the dishwasher. Since it's hunting season here, I won't see Shawn for the rest of the month!  The countertops are due Nov. 19th---the plumber will come on the 18th and take out the sink, etc. Then come back after the new countertop is in and reconnect everything and put in the d/w! I ordered my sink online just this morning to be delivered next week. Always good news to hear you slept well through the night! How is the A team doing on their road trip home? Did I see that baby got a little car sick? Hope that was a one time event!! I think Kris has done those "sheet pan dinners" with baby potatoes!! I'll have to remember that idea for someday when I have NO idea what to have for supper..... Though you know how I feel about vegetables!!

Lois..... Bet your batting was a whole lot easier to work with without the wrinkles!! If I had the space I'd have a one of those big rolls so I'd never run out!!

Diane...Glad to hear the radiation is coming along---no side effects? I've heard sometimes there like a burn kind of area? Is that true?

Jana.... Funny you should mention Amaryllis bulbs.... we were just talking about them here the other day!! We were going to buy some for prizes for our Christmas party. Thought I'd check Sam's Club (don't have Costco card) and they are out of stock!! I'd love to try to bloom one here!

Valerie..... From what I remember, tho it could have changed by now... Medicare Part B covers the ostomy supplies... Is there a way to hook Tony up with getting supplies on a regular basis through a mail order system? Too bad he has no internet as there are videos on Youtube for learning the ropes. My DB David has had the full on ostomy stuff for a couple years now and still occasionally will have an "accident" usually in the middle of the night. I'm sure there is quite a learning curve. I'm quite happy for YOU to be able to go home and back whatever is normal!!

Lori... PT is helping? Hey, if you can get a Lulu..... go for it!! Most of the time I can handle the chores around here, but have somebody come clean--or just scrubs floors would sure give me more sewing time!

Chriss.... YEAH I ordered my new sink!!! It will get delivered next week. How are you liking yours? Are you glad you went with the 60/40 or was it 70/30?

Went to Shawn's birthday party last night... literally 3 blocks up the road. Was fun to see old neighbors and even a couple kids Shawn went to high school with. Tom and Viv are here too so will probably run over and see them today or tomorrow. Shawn leaves for Northern Minnesota to go deer hunting tonight after he gets off work. (Always a worry for a mother)
For now I hear the washing machine play its little tune, so better go swap out the loads and get the clean stuff folded and put away!

Wishing you all a Fabulous Friday!!

Don't forget to sign up for Christmas Card Exchange!!! IF I DON'T hear from you, I won't put you on the list--want to make you want to participate first!

Maryq yes part B covers 80%. Just need to figure out how that comes to be. We were told to have the dr write an order. Nor sure after that.

A beautiful day in the Hill Country, though it may hit 90° later. I'm being a Sloth this morning. Slept in and now doing a rare thing of sitting on the back porch, in my pretty PJ's, where no one can see me from the back street and having coffee. Minnie is laying on her rug, soaking up Vitamin D.

I think MaryQ snuck some squirrels into this house yesterday. By the time I tackled them, it was 4 p.m. when I walked out to the Cabin. Then it was deja vu all over again from last spring when I couldn't find the plastic brackets that went on the metal shelf legs. This time it is the metal L shape with post things that the wood shelves go on. I spent a half hour hunting, gave up and went to Ace in Kingsland and bought 2 packs, which aren't cheap, but I had a $10 coupon to use. I got back in time to walk Minnie before dark. I did get a load of laundry done and laying on the guest bed to be hung up today. I got the sauerkraut maker out of the MH.

The Cheezy Amish Breakfast Casserole was very good, I made a half recipe. It's not real high in carbs, which is good. I was going to add some bell pepper, but forgot. I will add it next time. Here's the recipe.

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/22915 ... 68f919e771

Hope to get something done in the Cabin today. Dinner will be leftover Oregano Chicken salad.

Hope you can do something fun today.
Lyn
