Good morning,
LOIS - Hope your hubby is feeling better. Very nice of you to get up in the middle of the night and make him tea. Here - we're on our own for such things! You deserve a crabby day if you wish.
JUDI - stripping beds and washing sheets. Ugh. I love sleeping on fresh sheets, especially flannel, but I'm not a big fan of (me) stripping/washing/remaking the bed. I hope you will enjoy the process of the t-shirt quilt once you get into it.
FLO - Your display was great! Sorry the balloon popped. I saw a giant spider at a thrift shop in Sept. And a ton of other great ideas to make a splashy display.
VAL - You are training Tony well! Sorry the ostomy bag broke but it was a well-learned lesson, I bet! Also, the walk. Yes, my Dad, a logger, taught us early in life to stay out of the woods in the wind. My friend lost her daughter to a falling tree up in the Cascade Mtns on the same day Princess Diana died. (and we just happened to be camped nearby!) Her DD, her boyfriend, boyfriend's 4 yr old son, and a friend who was along for the ride. A single rogue gust of wind took down a huge tree and it went right over their pick=up. My friend's DD had told her she had some exciting news to share with her the next weekend when they got together. Autopsy showed the DD was pregnant. My friend never got over it.
JANA - I do remember you have a big collection of clocks. How long does it take to change them all? Do they all have to be correct time? Silly question, I guess, Of course they do! Funny, when Gracie is naughty send her to Gramma's. But sounds like it ended well for you all! And Gracie worked out her naughtiness, probably have some great memories of time with you, and you got your bulbs planted! Priceless!
MARY Q - haha! had to laugh - you wonder what would happen if our power was out longer than 4 hours. We've had several outages that lasted longer than a week! We do have two portable Honda 1,000 generators and have used them, but it's a trouble getting them out of the trailer and hooking them up to house. So we always wait to see if the outage is going to be long enough to be worth all that trouble. Usually, it's not. We always have heat and can cook on our wood stove or in our trailer. And the fridge will hold for a couple days if we don't open it.
CHRISS - yep, it's difficult to haul out the generator and get it hooked up. And then hope it runs! They are actually supposed to be run at least an hour a month, We don't do that, but we should. And yes, we are having fun with Amara. She is always up for a "tracker" ride with her Pop. Wish I was up to baking cookies with her but not this year. I bet your dad has been grateful for years for all the "lighting" assistance you have given him. Don't ever get him a headlamp. That would mess up your job security for sure!
LORI - did you know the Dodgers began in about 1883. They were called the Atlantics then. Then they became the Brooklyn Bridegrooms. There were other names but I don't know them all. They moved to LA in 1957. I can remember the move. People were pretty upset - especially my mom!
Yesterday was busy. With a 2 yr old, the days are all busy! Our best fun was all of us playing in the big pile of fall leaves. That was amazing for everyone! Then Pop got the "tracker" and Ms Boots (yellow rubber boots this time) helped Pop load the bucket with leaves. She even was able to use the little leaf rake we have. Then the two of them drove the "tracker" to the slash pile in the woods and dumped the leaves. Four loads, I think. She really was helping. Of course, she had to take her rake with her on the tracker. lol!
The kids are leaving sometime this morning. Aut and Amara are not early risers. Antonio is, but he still has to put the luggage tote on top of the car, and pack the car but right now he is on his computer at our dining room table. He has been on his computer for 3 days planning their trip home. He is a very intense person and is trying to work out routes and rezzies. For 3 days! And he's still not done. He's very OCD. So we doubt they will be on the road before 11am. One really neat thing out of the A-Team's visit is watching Lee & Lara with Amara. Those two would make the best grandparents! It's a side of them we've never seen. But we need to find our grandson a wife first, Right now he doesn't even have a girlfriend.
After the kids leave, we both have "comprehensive dental exams" at our new dentist. We're told these exams take a full hour. This does not include cleanings, which will be separate appts. Tomorrow is vet appt for Scottie. Wed is chiro, Thurs is massage. Fri is dexascan. I feel like we're running a gauntlet of appts this week. On Fri, we also have a Supper Club dinner to go to and I have to make the dessert for that - a Reese's Peanut Butter Cheesecake.
In odd minutes here and there, I"ve been working on cutting out my table runner. Not done yet as I don't have very many free moments. I hope this week to be able to start doing a little sewing on it.
That's all Folks!
have a fine day!

Good morning!
Yes i do have a ton of clocks! And oh yes, they have to be on exact, precise, to the second, correct time. I'm married to a railroad man, and that means the correct time, all the time! My grandfather was a railroad man, Mr G's grandfather was a railroad man and so is Mr G! I'm very used to it! Mr G has a automatic clock that is set precisely by a radio frequency from Denver, I think. I got it for him as a silly Christmas gift, but it rates as one of the best gifts I ever found! Every Monday, he winds all the chime clocks here, then with phone in hand, sets them. I have the chimes turned off in all but one. My grandfather had to have a specific brand and model of watch, and it had to be serviced once a year and checked for accuracy. The railroads were sticklers, it was a safety issue.
Yesterday I went to church, Mr G stayed home and watched our Ward's Sacrament Meeting on the YouTube channel we use. The Ward shows it each week, for those that can't make our meeting. We'll, it dawned on my silly thinking brain, that I'm a YouTube star! ROFLOL! I'm on the broadcast each week, doing the music! Finally realized that yesterday, even though I've been doing the music for several years now, every week! I'm slow! LOL! Never dawned on me that I was on YouTube every week! Humm, better pay closer attention to what I wear.
Wednesday, a friend is coming over for me to teach her how to quilt. She sews, a little, so it will be a very beginning lesson, to see where to go from there. She's lives just down the street from me.
I know too about finding girlfriends for grandsons. I have Stuart and his roommate, Michael, who we've added to the family. Then in awhile, Andrew. That's 3!
My Gracie is leaning towards being sassy. Hence, Grandma EMI. That a military term, Extra Military Instruction. We had a discussion and Gracie listened. She's not Grandma deaf yet. We use that phrase, Mama deaf, or Daddy deaf, as kids tend to tune out their parents. So mine seem to listen to Grandma.
Well, I have a couple of loads of laundry and let my helper out to vacuum. Planning on potato soup with kielbasa for dinner, thanks Judi. It's the Pioneer Women's recipe, slightly altered. Maybe even get a bit ambitious and bake a loaf of whole wheat bread. Also need a run to Costco, for milk and that could be dangerous too!
Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls
Up and dressed here!!! Nice sunny, but cold day! Woke up in the middle of a really odd dream,---one of those kind of stick with you all day!! DEX was in it, those kinds of dreams are NOT fun!!
Lois... We must be on about the same hair cut schedule! I wish Olivia could come to my house. I should probably make an appointment pretty soon, before weather becomes a factor. I think you're right about the Pellon 911 fusible, I think that's what I used. When Joann's was closing I stocked up a lot of interfacing, but now have no idea what type it is.
Judi.... If I remember correctly from Shawn's High School Letter, it's pretty thick!!! Maybe sew that on last, as part of the label rather than trying to put in IN the quilt itself? Your friend is starting with a Tshirt quilt? Man if I had done that I wouldn't have given up on quilting all together! I'm so grateful none of my grands have asked me to make them one.... yet!!!
Maryz.... Going to be pretty quiet at your house after the car pulls out of your driveway! Good byes are never fun, but oh what wonderful memories! Look how fast the time has gone and think that in 12 short fast months you will be in Texas again with new hips! Our power rarely goes out here, and if it does, we know it's something big. All our wiring is underground so it's safe from high winds and falling trees----in most of the newer parts of town anyway.. Still a lot of above ground areas in the "old" part of town! An hour-long exam at the DDS that doesn't include cleaning?
Jana..... Gracie can't be a teenager yet?

Sometimes "sassy" is just a way to let people know how she feels.... maybe she disagrees with an idea....Being disrespectful, that's another whole other story. I would allow my kids to disagree, I'd listen and we'd have a conversation, but I did not allow disrespect. I've been watching a lot of Youtube things lately---too many crafty things.... I should look for your "channel" too!
Lori,...Always fun to get together with another quilter! Nobody else understands what goes through our head quite like another quilter!
Chriss... YEAH for the Dad getting that old oven out!!! Won't it be great to get the microwave off the counter? Having seen the area you are working on, would you be able to put some extra shelves in there for other stuff? I do loves me some shelves for "stuff" (It's all about the stuff!"
Do any of you like to do other crafty thing besides sewing/quilting. I just love to make stuff---almost any kind of stuff. I've been watching a channel on Youtube "Blessings craft Therapy" a funny gal doing all sorts of crafts with a lot of stuff from Dollar tree!! You should see my work table, it's now covered with bits of paper and paints and ModPodge and do-dads and paint brushes. Somebody STOP me!!! So of course there is a bit of mess this morning from the things I was working on yesterday. I'm kind of between quilt projects, but need to get back to that
I probably won't get here tomorrow morning--don't worry. My baby brother Bill is a pilot and we have been trying for a few months to get a perfect day for him to take me flying with him. He leases a small private plane now and then. Tomorrow he's going to pick up a plane down hear where he lives (way south of me) and fly up to a small airport 12 miles from me and I'll get to go for a ride!! SO excited! If tomorrow is anything like today, It will be a perfect day!!!
For now I better get to work. Think I might make a batch of chicken soup today, it's that kind of day!
Wishing you all A Marvelous Monday!

Looks to be a nice day in the Hill Country of Texas.
Jana, here's a little info on the atomic clock.
WWVB had begun as an experimental station in Boulder in 1956. The site near Fort Collins was chosen for its relatively central location and flat ground, was built in 1963. An atomic clock near Boulder is close to the Flatirons, which somewhat complicates transmission of the signals.
The antennae of the clock north of Ft Collins is about a half mile from my DB's house he bought this spring and is remodeling. He drove us by it in Sept.
MaryZ, You have a busy week ahead. I bet there will be a new album for Amara with a catchy title like Tractoring with Pop's. 3 days to plan the trip home, that is a little OCD unless he's making fun stops to see stuff on the way.
Lois, Thanks for sharing the information on interfacing for T Shirt quilts. I have a friend who wants to make one and will share that info.
MaryQ, I have my beading. I used to do pen & ink drawings and some painting, but those books and any supplies are still in a tote in Colorado.
Judi, I was going to suggest putting the Letter in the center, but MaryQ is right, they are usually bulky, so maybe towards a corner would be better.
Hi to everyone else.
Unlike MaryZ, I actually only have one appt so far this week. We need to vote tomorrow. Someone in our little Village got a hair up you know where and thinks we need a City Manager. I think we have about 900 people living here full time. There's maybe 20 Village employees. We need a new water system, but a project manager can be hired for that. There's isn't an extra $150,000+ in the piggy bank to pay for this. Guess y'all know how we will be voting.
Nothing else new here. I hope you all have a wonderful week.
Lyn

Maryg -
Besides quilting, I tole paint. I have lots of books with patterns in them. Sarah and I just ordered from a site she found a bunch of bisque fired bear Christmas ornaments to paint and she got a beautiful nativity to paint. One she's wanted for awhile. I also love to decorate cakes and cookies. Sarah and I have done numerous wedding cakes. I have done many different crafts, taught them too. Stenciling, even a cute Mrs Santa over a craft broom. Every year, the Relief Society sisters would have what we called, Super Saturday, where we came early in the morning, stayed late into the evening, making craft projects. I really never got to take any of the classes, because I was always teaching one!
